“Nice idea but not a good service”

Had to have a bike replaced through insurance and Wheelies was the chosen supplier. Everything looks like it should be an easy process but it turned out to be very difficult. The main problem was that the stock on the website didn't relate in any way to the reality of what was in stock in the warehouse. This meant hours of going back and forth between telephone and website to check what was available. The guys on the phone were generally helpful. Was referred to Wheelies for an insurance claim. Didn't feel very well organised, struggled to find information about the bikes though we'd been through it several times already. Had to provide height and inside leg measurement, which came up with a different sized bike, it was then a battle to try to get a like for like replacement - was told I wasn't listening by the operative, so had to check measurements and call back so they were confident I was giving the right ones! I found the staff at Wheelies generally helpful although the overall service was not great. I ordered a bike but asked for the delivery to be held but my bike was shipped anyway (lucky someone was in). Then when the bike came it had close to a dozen scratches and scuffs on it. Some of which cannot have been caused in transport. I asked for another bike in a slightly smaller size but they only had that one size of that type of bike. “Friendly staff but poor follow up & communication ”

The staff who dealt with me on the phone were very helpful & friendly however the process for ordering my replacement accessories was time consuming. I want impressed. The staff were badgering. They called my husband at least once a day to ask him if I had chosen a replacement bike. They couldn't grasp that they should be calling me not him. I am a mum of two children under three. It was very difficult for me to get to a local bike shop to try out bikes I liked. After a cycle theft I needed a replacement and asked for the exact cycle I had before (company, model and size) which they almost refused to give me in the size I had before because I am a female and no female would need this size. Wheelies made it's fortune by cosying up to insurance companies. My first phone call to them was more like a crash course in used car sales tactics. I knew what replacement bike I desired but was repeatedly bombarded at every turn to go for the Giant Defy 2, an ugly horrible bike that I had zero interest in. Overall Wheelies provided a great service and delivered the chosen bike fully assembled and serviced. Accessories arrived too. However, when choosing what replacement bike to receive and what accessories to have you are somewhat pressured into choosing there and then in the initial phonecall and not given much leeway. Everything started off ok, good initial interview with knowledgable staff. New bike arranged for delivery, took the day off and waited, no show, complained to wheelies asking for explanation and compensation, was told van could not get down road! 3 spokes had snapped in separate incidents on the wheel of a brand new (expensive) cycle. I spoke to Customer Relations who were very helpful and agreed to investigate the problem. I sent the wheel in which was repaired (new spokes) and returned very efficiently - 11 days. After a short trip down the road the tyre exploded! On repair a large `nip` hole was found in the inner tube. Could have been dangerous if going at speed. More care and attention needed with repairs… Read Full Review

Good process and but for me it did not work as the bikes I selected were not in stock with no dates for delivery. To compound this, I often had to wait significant times on hold seeking answers. I had to use Wheelies as the preferred supplier by my insurance company. They had limited stock of bikes I was offered. Subsequently I had to settle for a bike that wasnt my first choice. The bike arrived a day later than I was told and when it did the box it came in was battered. The bike inside was not damaged however. Put in touch with wheelies after our bikes were stolen, wheelies called us on a daily basis, although it was during hours I'd explained we couldn't be contacted due to work, which wasn't unreasonable as it was only until 3pm. when we called back we had to leave messages as nobody was available to speak to, only to be called during unavailable hours again! Got the bikes after lots of calls. Misinformed on the size of bike and had to choose bikes different to the ones we wanted. Unfortunately, this is the second time I have had to use the bike replacement service. First time round (18 months ago) the staff could not have been more helpful and informative, this time round, things were a little disappointing. The conversations with the staff were very transactional, no advice on offer at all. Having had both my bikes stolen my insurance company made me go through Wheelies to get my accessories. I had to change the order several times due to a set of lights not being in the original order(not Wheelies fault). On each phone call I was asked to pay an excess, despite advising them this had already been paid to my insurance company and then being assured they would confirm this. As a result of them not carrying out the checks / or not updating notes the bike wasn't delivered on the set date confirmed. “Inconvenient way to pick up a damaged bike”

My bike was damaged and had to be replaced by my insurance company. I received a cash settlement but they wanted to pick up the damaged bike. Wheelies told me they would deliver a 'self-assembly' cardboard box to put it into. They requested that I was in all day to receive delivery of the bike, as they use a 9am to 6pm delivery slot.
