The assistnat on the telephone was very pleasant and helpful. The ordered bike arrived within a few days wihc was great- all assembled too. However, My disapointment is with the system plusthe actual relacement actual bike: 1.My local bike retailer was willing to replace the bike with all the accessories at a lesser cost but the insurance company would not ccept this 2. Initially they were v quick to respond and deal with the bikes I ordered. But I had reservations about buying offline and am still convinced it's not the way to buy a bike but my options weren't great. It was a long process - one bike I'm sure is too small - and look at manufacturers guide and I was misinformed. But too much of an ordeal to return. You want to see it, try it and get measured properly for it, as every bike manufacturer will tell you, but unless you want to receive only 75% of your claim in cash, you have no option but to buy from Wheelies. A real mixed bag of staff - some were helpful and others were rude and arrogant. We were given advice on sizes of bikes which differed from the manufacturer's recommendations, and also advised to buy parts that were not required. Took 3 weeks from the first phone call to finally getting my replacement bike (which I use for commuting and so experienced great difficulty getting to university as a result). I was given no feedback about the status of my claim until I rang myself on 6 separate occasions (73 minutes of call time) until I finally managed to get a bike that was in stock (the third time lucky). I spoke to several different employees, all rude who grilled and questioned me as if I was trying to defraud the insurance company. Statements were not recorded on file because I continually had to explain the incident over and over; again trying to trick you into committing perjury. To think that they are only acting on your insurance company's behalf I found them impossible and wanted never to have dealings with them again. We had 4 bikes stolen and were offered 3 replacement credits from Wheelies as 1 was still available from Halfords. Didn't like ordering bikes that I could not see, feel or even try in the flesh so found it hard to decide on the replacements. Wheelies direct were pretty good at sorting the replacement bike once I finally got to speak to someone and the advice i was given on bikes in the price range was excellent, delivery was arranged easily. Dealt with various people over numerous call none of which seemed to know what status the claim was at and had to be reminded. All advised when bike comes it would be ready to ride however on delivery I find there are no pedals. The bike that came was GREY not SILVER, not that I was that worried about that,. Instead of a Bike Bag (to put the bike in) i received a pair of pannier bags for a GIANT bike. As a bike mechanic I was rather surprised at the badly offset adjustment of the handlebars. I would not consider this bike ready to ride out of the box. Some people at wheelies tried to be reallly helpful but seriously let down by the systems which can't cope with stock levels - had to choose a bike 3 times, and note on other reviews here others have had same problem. Once order complete bikes came quickly (one day early!) and seem in good condition ( despite lack of bell on one which I think is illegal?!) Our bikes were stolen and after liaising with a company for the total amount paid out making the claim with wheelies was very difficult they charged me all different amounts and even called to take more from me 10 days after the bikes we'd chosen were ordered. They didn't have either of the bikes were orginially wanted. My bike was damaged twice resulted in delay in getting them. After speaking to an advisor about replacing 2 bikes was had had stolen we arranged for our bikes to arrive on Wednesday, on Tuesday I received a call letting me know there had been a problem with one of the bike orders and they would not be delivered on the day expected. After a bike theft I was left no choice other than to deal with wheelies and had no further contact with my insurer. Wheelies were pushy and not really helpful. 2 items weren't in stock & internet selector not allowed so a 42 minute peak rate phone call was required. To cap it off, after all that the bikes arrived flat packed & not assembled. The driver asked me to sign something saying I accepted the bikes in good condition before I had the box open. An inflexible service that would not allow me to collect the bike from the store that was dispatching it. The bike arrived in a massive box, that was a ppain to dispose of. The bike needed a lot of adjustment to position of brakes, seat and gears, which would have been done in a shop. Wheelies staff were polite and very prompt in contacting me following the insurance claim. It took about 7 days for them to organise the delivery once the items were in stock. There ensued three weeks of frustrating phonecalls in which Wheelies Direct would not supply the replacement bike because I could not produce a proof of purchase of the original. Had to have a bike replaced through insurance and Wheelies was the chosen supplier. Everything looks like it should be an easy process but it turned out to be very difficult. The main problem was that the stock on the website didn't relate in any way to the reality of what was in stock in the warehouse.
