They Used To Be A Good Company....
...but recently, their computer quality has gone down the hill and I am looking to replace my Dell with an HP. I had bought an extended warranty for my PC and when I called up support to get help under this warranty, they told me I had hardware support and not software support. The thing is, the sales rep never told me there was such a thing as software support. He just told me that it was a 1 year extended support for my PC. This is bull so I told dell that I would just buy from HP moving forward.

I Have Been Running This Pc Over Three Years Now 2
I have been running this PC over three years now 24/7 - still using it now for the same automated tasks. Cheapest twin CPU I could get at the time.
Main gripe would be the DVD/CD burner - gave up the ghost a while a go and has been replaced. Otherwise its a solid realiable machine - I couldnt comment on the performance as I do not use it for gaming.
It can get a bit noisey under heavy load, but I believe this is common to all Pentium Ds as they run quite hot.

The Psu Has Failed. The Green Led On The Motherboa
The PSU has failed. The green LED on the motherboard remains illuminated but the power switch flashes amber. Sometimes the computer boots up after a few minutes. When the power is switched off the same problem happens again.
Replace the PSU with a ATX 305W PSU. No need to buy Dell, get a cheaper PSU from a computer shop. Check it has 24pin connector etc.
There Are No Good Points. The Computer Is Thick, H
There are no good points. The computer is thick, heavy, and slow. That's when it is working anyways. My computer crashed recently and it was i believe the 4th 5150 that I've been through and none of them had a dvd burner that worked. It turns itself on and off and generally just did weird things. After it crashed i tryed to put a new hard drive in it but then they found out the motherboard was messed up and it couldn't take the new hard drive, so now i need a new mother board too! The customer service department, which i paid a lot of money for, was extremely bad, aggravating, and extremely time consuming. I give Dell "F" in everything! I will never buy another dell and don't recommmend you do either. And if you do choose to buy a Dell i pity you, but for the love of god, don't buy a 5150!

Had The 5150 For Cracking On 2 Years Now And Not H
Had the 5150 for cracking on 2 years now and not had any problems with it. I did admittedly get it with an upgraded RAM and hard drive capacity from the standard model. It has performed brilliantly especially considering all the games etc. that I have put on there it has performed above my expectations.
As mentioned above only one problem and that was sorted so quickly that it was hardly noticed. Awesome. Will definitely be buying Dell again.

We Have Had Ours For Just Over A Year Now, And We
We have had ours for just over a year now, and we have been generally very pleased with it. This is our second Dell PC, and we choose this one because the first had been so good. We had bought a Time PC between the two Dell's, and it had been terrible, with no support from Time computers. It was nice to have the great backup again for Dell's help line.
The Dell 5150 PC has had one fault, where it reset the BIOS settings, and then it would not boot. But the Dell helpline sorted out the problem within a very sort time, and we have had no problems since.
I would recommend Dell computers.

I Have Had My Dell 5150 Computer System For 4 Week
I have had my Dell 5150 computer system for 4 weeks, and I have made over 20 telephone calls, had 2 missed appointments and 1 engineer visit from Dell, and the system is still not working. Their Indian call centre is useless, and their premium technical support is expensive, and did not resolve matters.
Whilst the PC's look good, their service is unbelievably bad. I would never buy another Dell.
IT can be a vicious circle when you start trying to ring DELL after hours. Its best to ring during working hours 8 - 6. Is it not simpler to get in touch with one person at Dell and I am sure they will facilitate you with all incoming calls and deal with you one on one. As for your system it's in the warranty that Dell don't accept responsibility if you set up your computer incorrectly and I am surprised taht they have been so helpful. It's common knowledge that when you are purchasing your computer there is an addidtional cost to get dell engineers to set up your computer and if this is what has happened in your case I am sure they would replace the computer immediately. If you set it up wrong then calling India isn't going to get it fixed. Best to get a Dell personal number and be polite as they are under no obligation to help fix damage you may have caused by setting it up incorrectly, although under warranty they must replace the computer if it is faulty. Did you get the resource cd for $6 when you bought the computer? Simply use it to reload the software. If this doesn't work then write a letter asking the to replace under warranty and shift the obligation onto them and they will fix very quickly.

Ernest.......There are many reviews like yours on this site and I wonder why people don't buy their computers from a local computer shop who can give excellent advice, most would probably be cheaper than the 'big boys' and above all provide after-sales SERVICE.
