Over All The Room And The Maid Service Was Excelle

Over all the room and the maid service was excellent.

The thermometer in the room would only allow you to decrease the temperature -3 celcius. My room was extreemly hot. When I approached the staff to fix the problem, they said they would speak to thier manager. Still waiting for reply. Talk to 5 different people about a problem and you will get 5 different answers.

Shower curtain sticks to you like a barnacle.

Stayed June 2005. Thistle Tower Hotel Is Situated

Stayed June 2005. Thistle Tower Hotel is situated in the heart of London right next to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, E1. The 4-star 801 bedroom hotel is a large modern hotel with a range of standard, executive and suite rooms. We booked via Thistle Hotels website and got a huge discount on their normal rack rates (£93 for the room inc. English breakfast & V.A.T) - great rate for a central 4 star London hotel. Upon arrival, we were offered an upgrade to an executive room for an extra £34, (for both not each person). This offer also included a complimentary drink from their Water restaurant- (we could have any drink and when asked for a large one it was no trouble at all). This was very nice as we could seat outside and have our drinks overlooking the Thames and London Bridge. The executive room allocated had fantastic views and was surprisingly for a tourist/business hotel in London very large. The decor was very nice indeed and had everything you require in the room. Room facilities include Air Conditioning (a must), Television/Satellite Television, In-house movies (£7.25 per day to watch 2 movies), trouser press, 2 hair dryers (one in bathroom and bedroom). Direct dial telephone, mini bar (which you have to ask to be stocked), radio (radio and t.v are connected to the bathroom so you could have a bath or shower listening to what is going on). Morgan Brown toiletries in bathroom (shower/bath gel, Shampoo/conditioner, Body lotion, Soap, Shoe shine). Lovely white Egyptian quality towels. Bathroom in marble black/white and gold. Plenty of wardrobe space with separate wardrobe which had an in-house safe and fold-up ironing board and iron. Tea/coffee making facilities. Ice-cube making machine located on all floors. Large comfortable beds. Room immaculately clean (yes, including the bathroom - no mould!). Room Service, Laundry/valet service, etc. Excellent location - walking distance to underground and buses. Has limited parking at hotel, approx. 120 spaces where Residents can park for £14 per 24 hours and non-residents £50 - for London an absolute bargain - but who needs a car? The executive room is well worth the upgrade and I would recommend you do. English Breakfast is the normal help yourself, eat as much as you can and was included in the price, otherwise English Breakfast was approx. £17.25 per person. The hotel has a coffee shop, gift/newspaper shop, fitness centre a good concierge where they would look after your luggage on day of departure if you have time to do more sightseeing. You can buy an underground pass from any underground station for approx. £4.20 for zones 1 & 2 - this pass can be used to travel on the busses as well, just hope on and show the driver. The passes bought from the bus ticket machine £3.00 for the day, only allows you to use the busses, not the underground as well. Sightseeing busses were £16 per adult for one day and you can hope on and off as many times as you like. Well worth doing first. Don't forget the half-price theatre ticket booth located in Leicester Square (opens from 10 a.m) had tickets for most shows and half price! If you plan to stay in London then I would recommend this hotel, upgrade to an executive room with a view of Tower Bridge - well worth it, quiet relaxing hotel. Bad points: very slow check-in, but arrived 10 a.m and a room was ready straight away. Normal check-in time is 2 p.m and checkout 12 noon. Thistle Tower Hotel, St Katharine's Way, London, E1W 1LD
