I Was Given The Wrong Game, And When I Returned It

I was given the wrong game, and when I returned it to Apollo Video, the shop assistant argued with me, then eventual asked me to leave the store.

Another day my wife rented a film from Apollo and we watched it, and when we returned it, they questioned us that we scratched it, and used abusive language in front of my 4 year old daughter.

They then threatened to call the police so we left. I later wrote to the Mercury newspaper and told them my story, but they have a partnership with Apollo so it was not printed.

I live near Apollo Video, its just a 5 minute walk, and its really good, the people are really nice and helpful, and everything is cheap. They're open until late and they have a good selection of movies.

The Offending Location: Apollo Home Entertainments

The offending location: Apollo Home Entertainments, 112 Delce Road, Rochester, Kent, ENGLAND.

The problem: I hired a DVD on Friday night called 'The 25th Hour' which was taken back by my partner on the Saturday pm - end of story, or so you wold think, right????

WRONG!!!! I was called 4 times today (19/07/04) accused of holding on to a DVD ('Muck Around Guys'!!??) which I have never hired for 2 days. The first phone call was recorded on my answer phone quite a pleasant lady requesting its return - and as anyone would do, I returned her phone call and corrected the details the lady had and she said that it was fine, she would go and look into it. Fine - end of story, right???

WRONG!!!! The second phone call was received by my 7 year old daughter, after school, whilst I was at work. This lady was apparently not so polite as my daughter was quite distressed by her tone and having been subjected to this ladys unecessary detailed questioning about my whereabouts.

The third phone call was at about 2030 tonight - this common-as-muck 'Waynetta' type woman called me and falsely accused me of not returning this Muck Around Guys and upon my correcting her, she basically told me she was the manageress and that she had reviewed the CCTV and seen my partner and I hiring the DVD and taking it away. She said, and I quote "Don't think I'm being funny love, but are you like, coloured?" I confirmed her description then she said " Well, yeah, it was you then, you hired that DVD, can you come down now then and sort it out!" Her attitude was a disgrace, her tone was accusatory and I did not deserve it! I rung my partner so he could meet me down there and sort this obvious error out.

Just as I was about to get into my car, the phone rang again - it was her " Yeah, well there must have been an error, love, 'cos the code of the DVD you claim to have borrowed is 3806 and the code of the DVD we believe you have is 3816"...."Yeah well, I've amended the debt against your records alright! Bye." No "Sorry", nothing!!! End of story, right??!!??

WRONG!!! She had said her piece but I proceeded to go down there to close my account - no-one should have to put up with that, let alone a 7 year old child - who do they think they are!

Sometimes, I enjoy a quiet night in with a nice bottle of wine and a good DVD with my partner and manners like that can really put a girl off, you know? I don't expect to be spoken to like that - I'll take my money elsewhere!

Oh and by the way, there are loads of DVDs which say 'NOT for rental' on the back - surely that can't be allowed.

AND, NO I would never recommend a friend!!!

Apollo Video Gave Me The Wrong Dvd (on More Than O

Apollo Video gave me the wrong dvd (on more than one occasion) at a cost of nearly £4 each time. Both times refused to believe me and then proceeded to argue with me loudly in front of other customers. Would be good value for money if they did orders correctly and weren't so rude.
