Couples Retreat

I watched the Couples Retreat the other day, and well, I was quite disappointed. I had seen the trailers on TV and it did look quite funny.

The movie is written by Vince Vaughn, so I was expecting at least a few laugh out loud moments, but it wasn't Wedding Crashers or Dodgeball, but a mildly funny, kinda watchable movie. I can honestly say, anything remotely funny had already been shown in the trailer.

This is basically a comedy centered around four couples who settle into a tropical-island resort for a vacation. One couple is there to sort out their marriage problems, whilst the others, although they don't realise it at the start, end up being there for the same reasons.

The movie is a bit too lagging between its laughs to really be a great comedy, and I found it hard to really connect with any of the characters. This could easily have been a better movie with better writing, perhaps better cinematography and certainly a better delivery by the cast.

Not recommended.
