Stay Frosty! Or Not!
Aliens: Colonial Marines promises to be a sequel to legendary sci-fi flick, 'Aliens', taking place directly after the events of the film.
For Aliens fans there's plenty of nods to the original film and borrows musicals cues and sound effects that build atmosphere well. Unfortunately the rest of the game fails to live up to that atmosphere; poor characters, plot and overly light gameplay leaves the experience a little hollow.
There's too little camaraderie, too few exciting moments and too many Aliens standing on their hind legs like they want to hug you. The motion sensor helps rack up some tension, but far placed auto saves can make for a frustrating experience.
It's not bad, and it's full of fun references, but it's not really worth the title of 'Direct Sequel'.
