Alvor, Pestana Dom Joao II

I stayed here with my 8 year old grandson for a week in May 2017. The hotel was lovely and the swimming pool and location near Alvor and the beach were superb. The twin room was small with a peculiar window between the bathroom and bedroom. I think that the hotel forgot that all the occupants are not couples and we found it rather embarrassing. We had booked half board - the breakfast was very good - but the dinner buffet was woeful!! We ended up going out on the last two nights having given up on the dinner. We went with Thomson and their rep on site was lovely - very informative and helpful. I had asked about being able to sign for drinks etc and had been told that it would cost me 500 euros!! The person I dealt with sorted it for me - I only had to give my credit card advance for 150 euros.
