Had This Honda Engined Hayter Motif 41, For About
Had this Honda engined Hayter Motif 41, for about 4 years from new, very reliable machine, always starts 1st or second pull, cuts very well even cuts grass about 3 inches high on its highest adjustment.
Problems I have had with this machine:
Had to replace both handlebar brackets (twice) these had fractured in the same place on both occasions, in my opinion this is a weak spot, and at £28 each rather costly.
Cutting blade adjustment arm will drop out sending the cutting blade to its lowest asjustment at random whilst mowing, this will dig a hole in your lawn leaving a patch, not a good design, ended up using a nut and bolt in order to clamp it in position to prevent the arm moving.
Don't know what type of steel the cutting blade is made from, but it needs constant sharpening, and or replacement. Had an old McCulloch which I used to mow the same lawn with, and only had to sharpen the blade once in 12 months.
The duct to the grass box always keeps blocking up, well before the grass box is full.
