Weird
Dubious behavior , they are not paying your profit. I wanted to withdraw my full amount and their team said "You can just withdraw your initial deposit"…. and then i tried to withdraw my initial deposit and it was still the same story. Do not work with this low-profile company... i̳ r̳e̳p̳o̳r̳t̳e̳d̳ m̳y̳ c̳a̳s̳e̳ t̳o̳ GAard.io a̳n̳d̳ g̳o̳t̳ a̳l̳l̳ m̳y̳ m̳o̳n̳e̳y̳ b̳a̳c̳k̳ f̳r̳o̳m̳ t̳h̳i̳s̳ s̳c̳a̳m̳m̳e̳r̳ o̳f̳ a̳ b̳r̳o̳k̳e̳r̳ S̳T̳A̳Y̳ A̳W̳A̳Y̳!̳!̳

It Works Great In A Flat Market
I was with Optioneer for three years. I invested approximately 500,000 and made 175,000 in two years. The reason I made so much is because I often ignored his rules. I discovered early on that if you got out when he suggested you would often take massive losses of 30 to 35,000. And most of the time you could just hold on to expiration. The last year I made the mistake of following his rules. The market had huge swings and I thought it would be safer playing by his rules. Big mistake. I left with 30,000 in profit. You would be better going into a mutual fund or even a money market. This program would work well in a flat market, but then you don't need it.

Know Your Options Before Accepting Optioneer After Trial
I earlier wrote a review about having found Optioneer ineffective in real life and over 50 backtests. Here is what I would add now that I know a bit more about options trading.
1. At certain times Optioneer recommends that you put a good chunk of your money into certain paid trading programs provided by some other companies that they recommend.
2. Much of the time the market is not trending.
3. Iron condors blow up when the market is trending.
4. I conclude that they make recommendation "1" when the market has disposition to trend, and that the alternate paid "programs" are trend following automated trading strategies. They may make a subtle reference to this in their instructions.
5. My customer service advisor.. I don't remember if he worked for Optioneer or for Millenium, the broker...was a nice guy, but he either did not know or was not able to communicate the above information to me. He later quit for a completely unrelated job outside the industry. Interestingly, he was the advisor I selected after I rejected the first one they assigned to me, as he was so bad.
7. Final conclusions.
I do not doubt that Optioneer can be a good profitable labor saving tool in the hands of an experienced options trader.
Don't try it unless you have a good grasp of how to determine market direction, and an appreciation for the suitability of different options strategies depending on the market direction.
Be ready to drop some extra money for the directional trading programs when the market is trending, or have other ways to take advantage when a trending market occurs.
Get some training in making adjustments to options trades. I would interview my customer service associate to see what kind of help he can give me in determining adjustments.

I Have Been With Optioneer For Two Years. I Funded
I have been with Optioneer for two years. I funded my account with only 30000. Now it has grown to 41000. I have some losses that wiped out the gains of 3 trdaes at once. Anyway, I consider the profit quite good, albeit well below Optioneers publicity. I only trade Condors (my mistake?). About my mistakes: greed and holding on to a trade too long, having had a chance to be content with 70% targeted profit.... About my merits: I try to wait for larger spreads; I do a lot of small trades at different expiry dates and strikes; I monitor the trades every day; I continuously alter my Auto Exit preferences to self directed when a trade has low p-factors and is far away from the proximity rule, or revert more to automatic exits; I never change the p-factor or the proximity rule. About Optioneer/Strikepoint: my Broker Jeremy Stock has really been on top of all my trades, he has oriented me wisely, he has rolled over one side of the trade to try to recoup part of a loss, etc. Finally, I am sure my Broker knows much better than I how the system works, but I keep an eye on him since he is only human. I agree with those that expalin failure as a consequence of not following the rules. Ricardo Provan

If You Are Considering Optioneer...the Best Thing
If you are considering Optioneer...the best thing you MUST do is a thorough backtest over previous years, during your trial period. Do a test trade starting each month in several of the strategies, going back as far as your data will allow. Only then will you have an idea what to expect. I did not know to do that, and only tested current trades, which all did well. At a very minimum look back to a period where the market was trending, and do some backtests in that period.
I used Optioneer during 2010 and never made any money. I laid off, did some more testing, and then canceled my feed. There were four small trades that I exited early, though, with losses. One of them would have balanced the other three (losses) if I had followed the rules... but it got precariously close to a bigger loss. These were during a persistent uptrend in the markets during the spring. In a fifth larger trade during another period I followed the rules and lost.
Later I did a back test, picking trades each month from the various categories, covering about 50 trades. A pattern emerged, that there were regular losses that often wiped out the gains. What emerged was that by following the rules a slight profit was likely, but nothing that justified the risk, expense, and effort. I talked with my broker there, and surprisingly he agreed with me. He did say though that they make "adjustments" i.e. like rolling out a trade, to save some of the losses. He was definitely a nice guy...something does not fit. It could be that experienced traders with an instinct for the market have some intangible that are not covered in the strategies. But I am reasonably sure that at face value Optioneer does not deliver what it says.

I'm Relatively Early Using Optioneer, But Have Bee
I'm relatively early using Optioneer, but have been impressed so far. I will echo the comments of another poster; you have to follow the rules. No exceptions. That's what you are paying for when you buy the license, it makes no sense to pay for the license and then ignore the rules. I personally have yet to exit any trades at a loss. However, I am 100% certain that I will have losses, in fact Optioneer essentially guarantess you will have some losses that offset your gains. That's where I surmise some of the negative reviewers lost, they probably had a buy and hold mentality and that's not what Optioneer is about.

This system did not protect my capital at all. The heavy reliance on selling index puts wiped me out during the crash. I couldn't get out and Optioneer had no workable solutions. Their brokers panicked just as much. I know it was a terrible time but the biggest sufferer was my family. We lost everything. I was a quivering mess. It's a terrible story

I Have People That I Know That Have Used Optioneer
I have people that I know that have used Optioneer Trading Index options trading for years and some of them have had the same experiences many of you have described but when asked honestly they all admit to not follow Optioneer's rules and guidelines. It is easy to blame someone else when you lose money and not take the responsibility yourself. I know that Optioneer has great fundamentals and I know people that have done really well with the program but they have followed the rules and not got greedy.

The structure of the trades and simplicity of the website. I am retired and love that it only takes a few minutes managing my account. I have traded for 10 years and spent hours calculating trades. With their program I can do it in minutes. I actually have had nothing but good experiences with Optioneer. I have suffered my losses and made my mistakes. I am a responsible trader and take the blame for my mistakes. I have re-evaluated when I did not follow my exit guidelines and can see the system really helps me minimize my losses when I follow the exit guidelines.
I have been very satisfied with Optioneer and have recommend the program to my friends and loved ones.
