Quality Control Problems

My first one got so hot it damaged the rubberised coating. The second one kept freezing. When covering an empty office it isn't noticed untill after a break in. Third one was excellent, but i get scared of leaving it sometimes because of the overheating problems of the first one i had

Good Price, Web Interface, Firmware Updates, Linux

Good price, web interface, firmware updates, linux source code, stands up to outdoor elements VERY well. Overall an ok toy if you don't mind the lock-ups. Not a serious security tool yet until the lock-ups are addressed. Perhaps the unit is over-heating since it gets quite warm for a device that only uses 12VDC at 500 mA. However due to my experience of the webcam freezing I do not recommend the Edimax IC-1500.

This Is An Easy To Setup Wireless Cam, Anyone That

This is an easy to setup wireless cam, anyone that has given this bad reviews must lack in the simplest of pc skills in my personal opinion and experience.

Setup was a breeze for me, viewing from my wireless router is fabulous and I love it. I have ordered 2 more of these and well recommend the Edimax IC-1500.

The Edimax Ic 1500 Is A Camera Allowing Remote Ima

The Edimax IC 1500 is a camera allowing remote image viewing anywhere in the world over the internet via a local router with up to 4 users and 4 cameras.

When I first set up the camera prior to fitting all was fine, simple connections one for 12v power and one cat 5 cable for the router, installed software and bingo, one fully working internet camera. well for 2 minutes. The camera body has a rubberised feel to the main unit ,there is two fixing holes for a small mounting rod with fixing plate that on mine broke upon screwing into the body of the main camera, the software allows rotation of the image to allow for a 180 degree mounting change, only if you do this on mine it took up 100% of the computer power? The main viewer is straight forward enough allowing 4 different views if you have 4 cameras with a time stamp in the top left hand of the screen, only when I tried upgrading the software this feature disappeared which for a security camera makes it useless. As regarding software upgrades from the Edimax site there is also a firmware upgrade for the camera which after 2 hours of trying also didn't work.

There is a password set up for each online user and a main admin I was unable to change any of these, once the camera was up and running all you need to access it from a remote location is the IP address and a password this I was unable to do.

The camera itself required constant resets on the camera body for it to work and once it was fitted this would be difficult to get to.

It could be argued this is a duff one I have received but with all the other problems I still think its a poor choice for this type of unit.
