Lomo Holga 120 N

Holgas are an old fashioned type of camera using 120 roll film, but with now 35mm versions

bored with your characterless digital camera, buy one of these usually not more than NZ $65 or about 20 pounds.

cheaper than the dianas in the same film format

they are great as the larger film is easier to enlarge and make for better prints

every holga is different in that the photos that it takes takes a different look

the camera is plastic with a direct view eyepiece, a fixed shutter speed of around 1/100 sec and a fixed f-8 aperture

you can focus it by turning the lens to the correct symbols on the lens

the photos are sharpish in the center-softer on the edges with some vignetting as well

great for portraiture and landscapes as well as the street photography shooting from the hip

holgas come in single lens-pinhole - panorama and TLR versions. in the 35mm cameras the also have half frame cameras

i have a bright red and yellow versions as well as one that glows in the dark

it gives a 6 x6 (12 images) or 6 x4.5 (16 images) adjustable by the mask you get with camera

you need to gaffa tape or rubber band the camera togeather as the back clips have a habit of coming undone

120 roll film is still cheap and avaliable a little tricky to load but u tube has heaps of stuff on it

stand out from the mass's and give real photography a go, make prints , show people dont just leave them on your computer
