Thistle Euston

Stayed at the Thistle Euston last week. Disaippointing stay to be honest. Staff seemed arrogant and queue time at reception was very long. Food was expensive and tasted like it had been microwaved. Breakfast didn't disappoint but didn't redeem what should have been a very nice hotel (given the price!) I travel a lot on business but will not be staying here again.

We Stayed At The Aberdeen Thistle Airport Hotel Fo

We stayed at the Aberdeen Thistle Airport Hotel for two nights on a B/B basis. This stay was for business so keep in mind it was not for leisure.

The Company paid £120 for a double room p/n. Rated may vary depending on season.

The Thistle Aberdeen Airport Hotel is directly adjacent to the airport [funnily enough]. It is used by tourists, rig workers and business men for a wide variety of reasons. I believe the business facilities are extremely good at this hotel.

There are a wide range of rooms available, including smoking/non smoking and superior rooms. We stayed in a smoking room which was situated in an annexe near the back of the hotel. The corridor did smell faintly of smoke, but funnily enough, the actual room didn't! What a room! Two double beds. [yep two!]. A writing desk with chair, plenty of drawer space as well as coffee/tea making facilites, an ironing centre! [which was a wooden cupboard that pulled down from the wall, and within you found an ironing board and iron]. A tv with several digi channels as well as the usual dodgy adult channels which you could block via reception. A seperate dressing area with sink, safe and wardrobe. [complete with safe]. The bathroom consisted of a full bath with an excellent shower and even a retractable washing line that extending the length of the bath. The usual complementary shampoos and soaps were available. Towels were clean and flufffy. Plenty of loo roll. [always a must]. Which gently leads me onto the food.

Breakfast was good. Waitresses who were not only friendly, but extremely efficient. 10 out of 10. Fully cooked breakfast on request. Toast, coffee, tea and cereals, as well as muffins, pastries and biscuits. This was included in our allowance. However the food prices outwith this were ludicrous.

A burger [minus chips] came to nearly £9. Add cheese and you were talking a tenner for a burger. Fish and chips? Not much change out of £12. Bar prices are what you would probably expect, over inflated! Much cheaper to take your own supplies and drive out to one of the many take-away establishments nearby.

No denying that the hotel is lovely. Well run and looked after. However, the visitor is well and truly hit in the pocket for the privilage. Such a shame as this is a lovely hotel with well trained staff. The prices for food and drink would put me off returning in the near future.
