“Best Kung Fu School ”

★★★★★

written by unigate on 03/05/2017

Sifu Jack in my opinion is one of the best Sifu's in the UK. His training is of a very high standard. And I'm sure I can speak for all his other students, when I say we have all gained massively from his training and experience. I've known Sifu for a number of years, and look at him as a friend as well as my Sifu. Sifu is also an honest teacher. He tells you as he sees it. And in my opinion that's the best teacher to have. He wants the best for all his students. I highly recommend Sifu Jack's Kung Fu school to anyone who wants to learn Kung Fu.

“Real Kung Fu”

★★★★★

written by BenitoF on 22/04/2017

With over 35 years experience and a second generation student from Ip Man, you would truly not find a better Wing Chun Sifu around. If you are prepared to put the work in, you will get twice as much in return. You will get to learn what real Wing Chun Kung Fu is, rather than a lot of other stuff out there. I would highly recommend coming in and seeing it for yourself, you will not just be taught by a Sifu with a wealth of experience, knowledge and wisdom but get to learn a skill which may save you in a sticky situation. It's better to have a skill and not need it, than to need a skill and not have it. Make this your skill.

“Literally best school I have visited in the world so far! ”

★★★★★

written by Xpeppex on 21/04/2017

My title isn't an exaggeration, thanks to my job I travel a lot and I have had the opportunity to visit schools all around the world, Japan, Australia, North America, Canada, China, to name a few, and Sifu Jack kontou school is by far the best. Unlike many other Sifu he has trained and dedicated his entire life to wing chun and if that wasn't enough his teacher was  was a student of IP Man. Sifu Jack is extremely passionate about wing chun, he strives for his student to achieve quality and perfection. His teaching method is realistic and contemporary, unlike many videos on YouTube or many other schools, Sifu Jack trains every single student for real life events, he always says "one encounter, one chance" and so we train hard for that time out there when we need to put into practice what Sifu has taught us. Saturday morning Sifu teaches wing chun to children which shows a lot of commitment and extreme patience. The school it self has everything we need for optimal training and the atmosphere is great, the first day I stepped in the school I was a single man, now I am part of a brotherhood I a part of the Jack Kontou school family.

“Gold dust”

I am a Student of Sifu Jack Kontou and this man is second to none. As a sifu his dedication to the development of his students is phenomenal(showing your commitment of course), his understanding of wing chun is very thorough due to his vast experience of over 35 years and you are taught slowly given small things to work on and develop that will piece together with other small things you have been given before. he has a standard that he requires and will never lie to you and blow smoke up your ass, he is very friendly ( he is actually very funny too) but he is not there to be your friend. he is there to get the best out of you and I feel like I am a better man since training under him

I have been know a student of Sifu Jack Kontou for nearly 10 years. I have never known a Sifu to be so passionate in the way he teaches Wing Chun so precise and all from the heart and not the pocket!! Money cannot buy this. Even though it takes me over 1 hour plus to get to training, i am still here, Many thanks to "My Sifu". A great bunch of kung fu brothers very friendly. All the training equipment you require for training. I would highly recommend any one wanting to learn "Old School Wing Chun" Nothing but the Best......... Many Thanks Sifu so much appreciated.

“Wouldn't recommend”

★★☆☆☆

written by JoeSmith01 on 28/03/2017

I joined this martial arts club as I was looking to get back into Wing Chun after I moved to London. I will start with the positives first. The gym has some nice equipment like punching bags etc... However the instructor is very old school in his teaching. I didn't continue after 5 months because of his short temper with both myself and other students. Wing Chun is not an easy martial art to learn and he didn't seem to understand that. There is no reason to regularly shout or lose your temper with your students. If you are someone who likes being shouted at and bullied by an instructor like that then maybe this is the place for you. However if you take time to learn something and don't have perfect recall then I'd suggest going somewhere else. I've training somewhere else now and prefer it much more to be honest. I don't have any reason for posting this review other than giving my honest opinion. I don't want to upset anyone but this was my experience at the club and I wouldn't go back or recommend it.

I think this bloke is talking proper nonsense. He is trained by one of the best wing chun instructors in the world. He's passionate about his teachings and wants to ensure all his students are trained properly. In my opinion he's is a great sifu and im glad to be at his school.

“A secret gem in West London, a great place to learn...”

★★★★★

written by RylanKemp84 on 11/10/2014

I love the place, the kwoon(wing chun school) feels as a place to learn and develop yourself, a special place to study Wing chun. The Sifu Jack Kontou provides a fantastic class that I really enjoyed, because it has the physical aspect and the philosophy that entail the Wing chun. There is a mix of student of ages, and levels and quite appreciated is the aspect of all the higher levels threat the other students with respect. The price is quite all right, price for value is the word, it is located near the Acton central station, so it is easy to reach. the lessons are delivered to each student by the Sifu (master) in a very personalize way that makes the study very interesting. The wing chun was the first martial art of Bruce Lee and I understand why he was so great.
