ReviewItNow's review of LifeSource Water Filtration Unit

“Ripoff”

To begin with I had a sales women who came to my home full of promises of what the whole house LifeSource system would take out of my water. She guaranteed me I would have pure clean drinking water. After much investigation, I fine that the whole house system only has coconut carbon and it refreshes the taste and takes out regular chlorine and that’s about it. What about fluoride, chemicals, nitrates, chloramines, dissolved solids, pesticides and hardness in the water? Not a chance. So I canceled my order only to find out, my credit card was charged a deposit anyway. It’s been a month and after asking for my money back, I get “oh I’m sorry, you should have had that back by now”. To be clear, LifeSourse never had my permission to charge my card, the order was canceled the day after I met with the LifeSource sales women. LifeSourse is nothing but a super carbon filter. Why would anyone pay over almost $4000 for a carbon filter? The sales person misrepresented the product with false promises and integrity is lacking with this company. After much research I purchased a Pelican whole house system for less money and am thrilled with the quality of water in my home.

At least LifeSource is NSF/ANSI Standard 42 certified to reduce Chloramines for 720,000 gallons and Chlorine for 2,228,000, how many gallons does the Pelican do?

Actually Urmaster... You can replace any part of any system, including a LifeSource. It's just after any plumbing filtration system lasts as long as a LSW system, what do you really want to save? What you seem to overlook is that due to 30+ years of testing, constant improvements and numerous government level certifications, there simply aren't many things on a LifeSource Water system that would ever need to be replaced until it is truly end-of-life, many years down the road. As to what LifeSource systems are capable of removing from the water, just Google what pharmaceutical grade Granular Activated Carbon is known to absorb/remove from water. Perhaps even look at an industry standard report as old and the 1997 Michigan Report on what top quality Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) will do. And, this is obviously long before all of the refinery improvements in GAC filtration media since then. The reality is, Pelican uses KDF Resin (Copper and Zinc sand) as a major aspect of its filtration media and the Whole-House filtration units are not - repeat - not certified to USA government standards. Something that they continue to side-step by posting certifications to other products that they private label, such as
Reverse Osmosis units in such a way that you are led to think that all of their products are “certified”, when they truly are not. Also, the company that owns the patent on KDF-55 states that KDF media MUST be “Rinsed with hot water on a regular bases to dislodge trapped contaminates”, which then will just flow freely through the house as they would have nowhere else to go. (?) Does your Pelican have a hot water line leading to it in order to properly rinse it on a regular bases. (Not on any residential system I've seen) And the fact that many uncertified systems that don't backwash, well... it's just further proof that they are spinning the truth by telling you that - "Hey, no problem. If it fails, we'll send you some more filtration media so you can hire a plumber and dump the old stuff down the street drain and then try and funnel the new media into the tank.” No Problem Right? Very Environmentally Sound Right? I've heard them say all sorts of things and the fact that what they say and the fact that their website deliberately is full of so many options simply designed to confuse the end-user so that they are forced to call the sales department, at which point they will tell you anything and everything that you want to hear - just so that they can move a box is disturbing at best. Face it fans, if it were inexpensive to build a truly high quality machine, we'd all be driving Bentleys that we got via a web site sale for 50% off. Sound familiar?

Good luck with your Pelican system. I replaced my Pelican system with a LifeSource system and I am a million times happier with LifeSource then I was with Pelican. My LifeSource system has already out lasted my Pelican system and without any added expense.

Hey Lulujay's I know you work for Lifesource, and if not you are an idiot, how you compare Pelican with Lifesource, one system cost around $800 and the other around $4000. With pelican you can replace any part of the system, while Lifesource that's not possible.
