“Walking holiday centred on Tarbena, Costa Blanca”

★★★★★

written by virginia.strauss on 21/02/2018

Thank you Erik for a very successful week of walking in the mountains around Tarbena. The weather was fresh and spring like with almond blossoms decorating the hills adding to the general beauty of the area. The walks are varied and quite dramatic in places. Erik provided transfers to and from Alicante and to and from the start or finish of walks when required. As we were a party of 6 we elected to stay in a self catering villa provided by a third party with which we had issues but despite it not being technically Erik's responsibility he made enormous efforts to correct the problems. He was also very flexible about timings and we were very grateful to him for ensuring our holiday was a success.

“6 Day Hike with Great Food”

★★★★★

written by Candycatford on 10/06/2014

Our walking holiday in Spain, as arranged by Erik, was everything I'd hoped it would be and exceeded my expectations in some ways. The fact Erik was able to be flexible with dates, start points etc. really facilitated what was an otherwise complicated orchestration of two hectic schedules. He organised the walk so we could travel at the times most convenient to us and stay in as many places with pools as possible. The walks themselves were easy enough for two relatively fit mid-thirty-year olds without being unsatisfying and were brilliantly varied with each day throwing up a new kind of scenery and terrain. For us, the timings indicated on the walk were accurate, as was the advice on what to carry and wear (we took more water but only occasionally needed it, and I ignored advice to wear long trousers and was duly scratched at half the last day by vegetation- the other days were no problem though). The written maps were pretty tricky to follow, but the GPS was so easy to use we really only needed to refer to the paper for the interesting history included in it. The places to stay varied enormously as well with the defining common factor being that the hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. They varied from fairly basic, but clean and nice, to quite luxurious but each had their own charm and every one had excellent food. We're not fussy eaters- there was no menu, just what the hotel decided to cook, but the quality was superb and dinner became a real treat each day. We couldn't set out as early as we would have liked as we couldn't persuade anyone to give us breakfast before 8am but that meant we were back with time to relax in the afternoon. Best to discuss dinner plans on arrival though as we sometimes found it hard to wait until the local hour for dinner and most places weren't sufficiently prepared to serve us before 8.30pm by which time we were starving! If i could make one change to the experience I'd seek out more accommodation with pools, but then we're from Scotland and the change to swim outdoors so rarely presents itself to us! That aside I only wish we could have stayed longer.

“mini trek - April 2014”

★★★★★

written by on 17/04/2014

We asked Erik to plan a route for us to maximise our time in this beautiful part of Spain. Our 4 night, 4 day mini trek was perfectly planned and met our brief perfectly - with a short 'warm up' walk the afternoon of our arrival, and an opportunity for a refreshing swim at Fonts D'Algar at the end of the trek. The walks were interesting and varied and the views fantastic. The accommodation was a real bonus - each hostal/pension was full of character and our evening meals included lots of local specialities. We stayed near Guadalest, Confrides, Castells de Castells and Tarbena. We couldn't fit in a whole week because of work and family commitments but the route Erik planned for us allowed us to make the most of our relatively short stay. I would recommend this company and particularly the personalised route planning.

“Wonderful Walking Week”

★★★★★

written by gabrielle Lorenz on 27/03/2014

We stayed in very comfortable accommodation in the Village of Tarbena and each day we went on a walk in stunning countryside bathed in bright sunshine with fantastic views of steeply terraced mountains to the blue sea. We were amongst almond trees with their drifts of pink and white blossom, olive groves and orange trees heavy with fruit. We rarely met others and often the only sound was the drone of bees in the aromatic wild rosemary. Eating local olives and almonds on our gorgeous picnic spots admiring the spectacular views was a real highlight! It was hard to believe that we were so close to the busy coast! These small mountain villages need people to leave the coast and visit them. For picnics we stocked up in Tarbena's small shops that had the basics. Erik, our host, provided satnav and maps and took us to the beginning of some walks and collected us from the end of others. His local knowledge was extensive and was extremely welcoming and helpful! A lovely week, the walking was great, the views fantastic and it was very relaxing.

“Walking Holiday in Spain -...”

★★★★★

written by Joyce481 on 05/03/2014

This walking holiday in Spain, based in the village of Tarbena, inland from Benidorm, came highly recommended from friends. It did not disappoint. Everything was well planned, from the airport transfers to the self catering accommodation to the selection of local walks. February was a good time to go because the almond blossom was out, as were many of the wild flowers. The walks were of varying lengths and offered spectacular views of the surrounding area. I returned home very refreshed, and enthusing about this little known area of Spain.

“Excellent walking and service”

★★★★★

written by StewandSue on 09/02/2014

We have just come back from a seven day Inn to Inn trek and can only say that it was a truly memorable holiday. The attention to detail was impressive, the hotels were warm and welcoming, the food was better than we expected and the scenery was outstanding. They have obviously gone to a lot of trouble to find interesting trails and avoid tarmac, one of our pet hates, and have organised the trek so there are no transfers involved apart from getting to and from the airport. They provided us with full information about what to bring and there is a link to the local weather forecast on the website. We will certainly be going with them again and we would not hesitate to recommend this walking holiday to anybody else.
