My friends and I tend to go to the Walnut Tree for celebrations - birthdays etc. although the lunch time specials are very competitively priced at £20 for 2 courses. The main menu main courses are around £20 to £27. This is a restaurant where the cost is entirely justified by the absolutely super food. Recently, I had quails eggs to start and halibut as main course. The quails egg dish was wonderful - a base of light flaky pastry, filled with minced mushrooms, done with something alcoholic: then the eggs, covered with hollandaise sauce. The halibut was generously sized, in a seafood broth (mussels, and other shell fish), accompanied by saffron potatoes and green veg. So tasty! No room for pudding unfortunately - mainly because of the delicious
