My kids have just reached the age when we thought we could give camping a go this summer. When we asked around our circle of friends several had used a site called Cool Camping and I can see why. It has helpful categories for sites like 'Good For Kids' which is exactly what we were looking for and the ability to see the relevant sites on a map to narrow in on whatever area interests you. For us it was the South West and we now have plenty of options to choose from, shame it doesn't have a way of guaranteeing the weather.

If anyone is familiar with the Cool Camping books, they will know that the campsites selected are all of great quality - and the same is true of the website. I have been to probably 7 or 8 of the UK campsites listed, mostly in campsites in Cornwall and Devon, and they have all been winners. They are particularly strong on campsites with campfires and the smaller, low-key campsites for tents, but there are other sites listed too, including a selection of luxury campsites. I have to say, the website did used to be a bit rubbish, but they have recently re-launched it with a really good search function, so it's now way ahead of most other sites. A must for tent campers!
