We have booked two holidays through Planet Rail - Lake Como and Switzerland. We found this agent to be efficient in all it did but most of all went the extra mile to tailor the holiday to our own specific requirements: they found out all the details of a particular exhibition we wanted to visit.

When things looked like becoming difficult due to a French rail strike, they were there for us in case of need.

We would recommend this agent to anyone looking for a tailor-made holiday by rail.

My husband booked the Orient Express for our honeymoon. We travelled in May, 2015. The trip was well planned, but itneary was not very clearly layed out. My husband had to rewrite it so we knew what we were doing and what was happening. After the trip we had no follow up from Planet Rail or the Orient Express! Very disappointing and will not recommend Planet Rail or the Orient Express!

Our rail holiday was planned for us to perfection. The travel and train changes worked seamlessly and the hotels were just what we liked. Each 4 star hotel was centrally located, so that we could transfer to them very easily. The Venice, Rome Florence hotels were in the heart of the cities enabling us to easiily visit their sites. The holiday was a great combination of independent travelling with the organisation of the difficult bits carried out for us. certsinly a holiday to remember and recommend.

we had excellent advice pre trip and everything was well planned. Guy and the team listened and put everything in place for a dream vacation. We went from UK to Zurich , Verona, Florence, Turin and back to UK, all within budget. If I won the lottery, the team would be my personal travel advisors. Yes , we had a difficulty when an entire rail network went down and we had to be bussed through the Alps. Planet rail spoke in French to the train operators, sorted out the missed connection and we just relaxed into the journey, no hassle. Well done Planet Rail, great experience, thank you.

Hello, probably a bit late posting this review; however just to say we used PlanetRail in 2012 for a trip on the Orient Express to Venice for a 3 night stay and then on to Lake Garda for a 6 night stay. It was the best of holidays ! Everything went perfectly, not a hitch in sight! Everything was arranged on our behalf and we didn't have a thing to worry about. PlanetRail's itinery and hotel choices are brilliant, we had amazing views from both.PlanetRail keep you updated and do their utmost to arrange the holiday to suit individual needs. We were thrilled with everything...... and to prove it Yes I've recommended to a friend , who is now using them and we are Using them again for our next years holiday back to Italy and to the same hotels!! Simply can't praise this company highly enough and I already feel assured and secure that our 2016 holiday is in safe hands and we don't even have to do anything !! AMAZING !!

I asked for a train journey to Venice and everything was sorted for me - taxi transfers between Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon and water taxi from Venice station to hotel. Everything ran smoothly and the hotels chosen in Zurich, Venice and Montreux were all top notch - super views from our rooms in Venice and Montreux. Of course, even the best company cannot anticipate a 45 minute hold-up on the TGV back to Paris, meaning we missed our Eurostar connection, but a call to PlanetRail meant our taxi to Gare du Nord was re-scheduled and we were given exact advice for re-booking on to the next Eurostar train. Can't fault the firm - highly recommended.

I turned 50 this year and decided to celebrate this milestone by doing something I have never done before. Decided on a grand tour of Italy by rail. Therefore I went on line to find a man or woman who could do the hard work for me. I stumbled into planet rail. I'm glad I did. They organised it all for us and they did a perfect job. I was balled over it went so perfectly without a single glitch. Everything went well like clockwork. The trains were on time connections went smoothly taxi transfers perfect. The hotels were lovely central within the cities we visited. It was a classy holiday.Thanks planet rail!! I will be back for more!! Nothing I did not like.

We have just recently returned from a wonderful trip to Verona, including Zurich and Montreux, and wish to say and how everything went so very smoothly.

The trains, taxis pick-ups and hotels were all excellent.

The hotels were perfect and ideally situated in each location, and were all very accommodating. Breakfasts were overwhelming!

Also we thoroughly enjoyed the last night of the opera season with perfect weather!

Not having had a holiday by train travel (over that distance) before, it made it so relaxing and very much less hassle than by air. The whole trip was a pleasure from start to finish.

From the moment I contacted Planet Rail to the end of the holiday the organisation was perfect. We had a wonderful holiday in Desenzano with an extra few days in Bologna. All the hotels were exceptional, welcoming, helpful and with extremely good breakfasts,( not always the case in Europe). The train connections worked perfectly, just the right amount of time between, and also the taxi pick-ups for transfers in Paris and Desenzano. We loved the helpful and detailed itinerary, which included the train details( we didn't need to keep getting out tickets, and the fact that all the tickets were in order). Excellent attention to detail. Good value for money compared to some of the other train companies. A big thank-you to all at Planet rail.

We used Planet Rail for our recent holiday to Lake Garda. All the arrangements were done very efficiently, including many trains and taxi transfers. The hotels they booked for us were very good and they made suggestions for things we could do while we were there which were very helpful. Our favourite hotel was the last one we stayed in, in Montreux on our way home: the Grand Suisse Majestic, which has a perfect setting and an ambience of a much more gracious age which made the perfect climax to a wonderful holiday. we can not recommend Planet Rail highly enough.
