On returning from a holiday in the Maldives, I discovered that a sum of money
had been stolen from the hotel safe.Not all, just part missing, so it didnt draw attention until I checked it.This is the second time this has happened to me in the Maldives, so I would warn fellow travellers to not put valuables in the safe as the lock can be opened by hotel staff.
Initially Saga was helpful, and advised me that a claim could be submitted up to 6 months after returning from the holiday.
I duly did this, submitting emails to the hotel, and correspondence with the police, and was informed by letter that the claim was under review and that I would be contacted within five days. Three weeks later, nothing so I sent a reminder email which was ignored.I then phoned and spoke to an arrogant young man who told me that the claim had been declined, didn`t I get the letter? No, but I did get the mail shot trying to sell me more insurance.The reason now being that it was too late when I claimed, not what I was advised initially.
A totally rude and unhelpful company. Will not be buying anything from them in future.
