I get very excited when I receive an email about those wonderful cheap deals,
but this is nearly always followed by disappointment, as search results never
seem to live up to the advertisement! and are 4x the advertised rental price!
this is true of most places and most ads.

I am a retired professional so have a small budget, also I travel solo as my husband is not a good traveller. I like the extra space and freedom of rented accommodation vs hotel. Sometimes it is not as good value as could be.
