Just came back from a 5 day panoramic Europe trip with a group of 9 family members and would like to take this time to give a special thank you to our tour manager R**. He went above and beyond to ensure that we were well accommodated, comfortable and safe in every place and tourist area we visited. He was highly knowledgeable on the places we visited and was able to share all the details, fun facts and history that the countries had to offer. Without a tour manager looking out for our best interest, we would have been delayed in many of the sites we were scheduled to visit due to several other tours following the same route as ours.
While our tour manager and our driver made this trip worthwhile for a group of us with our first experience using Star Tours, it was a shame and disappointing to see how a few groups of young couples and members from the native country of India treated him. As an Indian, it was extremely embarrassing to see how groups of individuals on our tour did not follow the time, instructions and consistently was late to return to the coach. Despite in my opinion a daily and clear message on the importance of returning back on time, they simply did not listen, were rude, inconsiderate for others on the bus that had to wait for them and just laughed off the matter. They acted above the law, rules and were under the false pretences that their “status quo” in India applies globally. They were disrespectful and would speak ill about him in our native language when he would call out on the importance of being on time. More than a dozen of times, our tour manager had to go searching for them while we waited on the coach. These individuals were not apologetic upon return and in turn were threatening, rude and abusive to everyone that called them out on their behaviors. They turned what was a fun trip with most members on the coach getting along with one another to dividing the group with drama.
My only recommendation would be that Star Tours gives travelers guidelines as well on what is expected of them to make the trip enjoyable for EVERYONE attending. The behaviors and attitudes they portray in India are unacceptable when traveling in other countries. Most of the members in the group are from the US and UK and the way the Indians from India acted was an embarrassment.
While most of us found ourselves getting angry and frustrated, our tour manager was able to remain professional, kind and understanding. I observed him being able to handle all personalities, characters, ethnic backgrounds and taking culture into consideration.
Star Tours is an Indian tour company and thus they need to ensure that rude behavior is not accepted even as a customer or traveler paying for the tour. It left most of us still speaking about the behaviors of these few individuals that left our trip in a bitter tone.
