My wife and I booked a Leger river cruise from Amsterdam to visit the wonderful Keukenhof Gardens, and the trip commenced on April 19th 2013. Our first problem was at the intercahnge, there were so many people that at least 60 people were unable to get a seat. We arrived late at the ship, the Rhine Princess, in Amsterdam and the make shift light supper was a shambles, being most disorganised and very, very poor after a long coach journey. On the second day, the brochure told us that we would sail to Volendam where a coach would take us to the Keukenhof Gardens. It was then that the drivers stated that we were to spend two hours in Volendam, before proceeding to Keukenhof, which we found was very disappointing as we looked around Volendam on a previous holiday. We were supplied with very nice packed lunches, and were told that we could either carry them with us, or collect them from the ship before boarding the coach at noon. Thankfully we carried ours as the twelve or so passengers that returned to the ship to collect their lunches found that the ship had already left, with their packed lunches still on board. Our visit to the gardens was then so short that it was impossible to see more than a glimpse of the flowers
The ship's food was very disappointing, with no choice of a main meal, the cabins, however were okay. On the return journey, we were held up in traffic in the Antwerp area, and were very late getting back to the interchange at Calais. Because of the long delay, we eventually stopped for a toilet stop which the driver said must be no more than 15 minutes, but on arrival at the services, we found that it was so crowded there was no chance that we could visit the toilet and be back on the coach in time, so we struggled on without a toilet break, only to be then told that we were not able to use the toilet on the coach as the drivers had been unable to get it emptied in Amsterdam. When we finally got to the interchange, we had a quick visit to the toilet while the luggage was sorted, then we boarded the coach to bring us back to the West Country, only to be told that it was not possible for us to sit together, as they had reorganised the drop offs and the coach was carrying more people.

We then set off in the feeder coach, back to England via the ferry, for another 7 - 8 hour journey , only to be told that they had run out of coffee on that coach.

What a very disappointing experience, and perhaps we will be able to avoid Legers in the future.
