“Superb Travel Team !”

★★★★★

written by MikeChristchurch on 23/03/2020

Latin Routes are very helpful and genuine people who arranged a superb South American adventure for us.They based the trip on places that we wanted to visit and made additional great suggestions. They also arranged all the accommodation and travel for us.Unfortunately coronavirus necessitated us to have to leave Argentina asap and despite the rapidly deteriorating and worrying situation Latin routes made at short notice all the arrangements for us to return to UK safely just before Argentina was shut down. They kept us informed at all times in a calm and supportive manner. Latin Routes are a truly professional company -superb service and I could not recommend them more highly.

“Amazing and seamless”

★★★★★

written by Hendo2 on 22/04/2015

We have just returned from a 5 destination trip to Argentina & Brazil arranged by their repFrom the start the organising was so impressive, their rep really put her self out to understand what our interests were and came up with many suggestions that we had not thought of. Having agreed an itinerary she then went the extra mile to find places of special interest to us at the destinations chosen. It really was a tailor made holiday. This included a programme of 9 flights, a couple of them involved two a day. A bit daunting given connections - it all worked seamlessly - I have to say both the Argentina and the Brazilian airlines put our cut price operators to shame with modern aircraft, on time and clean and efficient airports and toilet facilities and staff that smile! All the hotels chosen were exactly as expected, clean with efficient staff. Knowledgeable guides and tours. From icebergs in Patagonia to night skys to die for in The Pantanal, Iguassu Falls, tango's in B. A. and samba's in Rio. Word of warning - it's not Europe, don't expect everyone to speak English - they won't but that's the joy of travel!. Do organise guides - you would miss so much otherwise. Couldn't fault it - Thank you Latin Routers

written by Nilly2014 on 22/04/2015

Our honeymoon stay in Rio was amazing. The hotel and location was perfect. This was by far the best holiday we have been on. The service we received from Latin Routes was great. Every part of our trip was organised and well planned. We were kept up to date with any changes and they always kept in touch to make sure we were happy with everything. I would definitely recommend Latin Routes to anyone who wants to travel to South America.

“Argentina, Chile and Antarctica on the "Sergei Vavilov"”

★★★★★

written by DHSH on 12/04/2015

We were away for nearly five weeks altogether - flying first to El Calafate via Buenos Aires, then by land to Torres del Paine, flying down to Ushuaia and then taking the cruise on the "Sergei Vavilov" for the next two and a half weeks before returning home via three nights in Buenos Aires. Main problem may be where to start!? It was all great, and we really can't fault the arrangements made by Martin and Latin Routes. We had already decided on the cruise and he gave invaluable advice regarding what to do before and after. The only problem we had whilst away was when one hotel got our pickup time to transfer to the airport wrong, which meant we came very close to missing the flight to Ushuaia - it was comforting to know that if the worst had happened Latin Routes would have sorted it out (even though not their fault), which must be an argument against making your own independent arrangements? The cruise went first to the Falklands, then South Georgia and finally the Antarctic peninsula. I can only say it was even better than I'd hoped for in pretty well all respects, and I'd definitely recommend including the Falklands and (especially) South Georgia if you can manage it. One key point made to us by a friend who had done a similar trip was to be sure to book on a ship with less than 100 passengers to get the most out of it, as there are strict limits on how many people can land at any one time. Different people on the boat had different reasons for going. Some EXTREMELY keen ornithologists, then interests to varying degrees in scenery, photography, and the history of the area and the famous explorers associated with Antarctica. There were a few days at sea, and an extensive programme of talks was arranged on board with expert lecturers. Two were naturalists, a third was an authority on the history of the region and the explorers. The quality of their talks was first rate. In all ways the trip can only be described as extremely professionally run. The knowledge of the staff, the organisation of the Zodiacs to ferry us to shore and the ability to be flexible with itinerary in the face of very changeable weather were all noteworthy. It's really difficult to find anything to fault. High spots? Having previously read a lot about the explorers of about a 100 years ago, for me the most memorable experience must be seeing close up from a Zodiac Point Wild on Elephant Island. The very spot where Shackleton's men waited for months to be rescued, without knowing if he had successfully reached South Georgia. But there's so much more, from the intense blue colour of icebergs to the remains of the old whaling station on South Georgia, and the remains of the abandoned base on deception Island. To say nothing of being so close to vast numbers of penguins and seals. And we mustn't forget Argentina and Chile as well! An excellent month away.

“Spectacular Argentina and Chile 2014”

★★★★★

written by yaMarshall224 on 11/03/2015

Our trip to Argentina and Chile was truly spectacular. Before contacting Latin Routes we had a good idea of where we wanted to visit but our consultant was very well informed from personal experience. He suggested hotels / estancias that were definitely to our requirement and taste and a suitable itinerary to follow so that we could see everything that we wanted to. He was also willing to change our itinerary and supplement our plans as appropriate. Highlights included Igazu Falls both Brazil and Argetinian sides but be prepared for a soaking, the most amazing cruise on the Stella Australis a small cruise ship with extremely well informed guides with excellent food and accommodation. Torres Del Paine national park a splendid and remote location ideal for walking and winding down. We visited El Calafate to see the Perito Morena glacier, a point to make here is that there is the option to trek on the glacier which needs to be booked before hand, this was not pointed out to us. Next stop Peninsula Valdez and the Estancia Rincon Chico. An idyllic remote location with lots of wildlife / sea life on the doorstep. We thoroughly recommend this estancia : they were truly welcoming hosts and excellent guides. The whale watching boat trip is a must. We were sad to leave to return to Buenos Aires. We spent a couple of days exploring this vibrant city, a Tango night is also another must. A memorable, if exhausting, adventure. Looking forward to planning the next one.

“Argentina and Chile - a wonderful holiday”

★★★★★

written by Rach58 on 10/03/2015

I've just returned from Argentina and Chile on what has been a fantastic 1st time visit to South America. I have to thank the staff at Latin Routes for their help in putting my itinerary together and for their wealth of knowledge. My primary goal was to see Perito Moreno Glacier and Torres del Paine, both of which were as awesome as I had hoped. I also visited many other parts of Chile and found the people throughout the country to be incredibly friendly and helpful. The itinerary as organised by Latin Routes went entirely to plan and it enabled me to enjoy my holiday to the full. If you have never been to Argentina and Chile I would recommend that you do so without hesitation. There is such of range of scenery! I hired a car whilst touring the Lake District and make sure you have plenty of change for the tolls on Ruta 5 (Carretera Austral) and remember when parking, find a place, the parking warden will come to you, give you a ticket and you pay them on your return.

“Three weeks in Chile”

★★★★★

written by patony51 on 25/02/2015

My wife and I have recently returned from our first holiday to South America, having spent three weeks travelling around Chile. Our itinerary was based on suggestions from Latin Routes but tailored to our preferences including some self-driving and self-catering. Without fail the arrangements worked like clockwork with particular praise due to their agents on the ground who delivered all the pick ups and transfers smoothly. We were also impressed by the standard of the tours arranged by the company in the Atacama and Santiago which were enhanced by the quality and professionalism of the guides. Taken together with the high standards of accommodation which we enjoyed, we felt we had gained a real insight into the diversity which Chile has to offer. The experience has made us keen to return to South America and happy to recommend Latin Routes to anyone who is contemplating a trip to South America confident that they can be relied upon to deliver an enjoyable trip that is value for money.

“Thank you Latin Routes”

★★★★★

written by Deeptrance on 24/02/2015

The planning process is half the fun of foreign travel. When considering an adventure to unfamiliar territory, its good to have expert advice. My wife and I are just back from Chile and Argentina, following an itinerary crafted to our preferences by Latin Routes. We had the opportunity to discuss our options and had a lot of constructive, expert advice. As might be expected, some places we visited pleased us more than others: Overall, our holiday was an unqualified success. I wholeheartedly recommend Latin Routes to anyone planning a South American adventure.

“Argentina & Southern Chile Highlights”

★★★★★

written by boothdcb on 09/02/2015

I stumbled across Latin Routes while browsing the web for a 3-4 week holiday in Argentina for my wife and myself. I liked their suggestions as to what our holiday might include and their flexibility in incorporating some of our own ideas. From the outset, their help and friendly advice was first class and they clearly had a very good knowledge of South America. As soon as we had sketched out an initial plan of the holiday with the agent, a provisional itinerary arrived within a few hours by email, followed the next day by a hard copy in the post. Incredibly, the provisional itinerary included all the hotels, flights, transfers, etc. Having got the provisional itinerary, I asked Latin Routes if I could extend the holiday with an additional 3 nights visit to Torres Del Paine in Chile. Again, within a few hours, I received fully detailed itineraries with comparative costs of both the original and extended holidays. We opted for the extended holiday, and although the cost was close to the top end of our budget, our overall experience was exceptional and well worth the money. The recommended hotels turned out to be lovely places to stay. Transfers to and from the airports usually included an English speaking guide, who advised on the best places to eat, places to see, places to avoid, whether certain areas were safe or not to wander around, etc. The guides also made sure we had all of the appropriate documents and vouchers for our pre-booked tours and excursions. Just before and also during the holiday, there were occasional minor changes to internal flight times made by the airlines. Each time there was a change, our agent at Latin Routes appeared to be ahead of the game and made sure we were kept fully informed. Transfers to and from airports were magically adjusted to suit revised flight times and the whole holiday ran like clockwork. Our experience of Latin Routes as a travel organiser was outstanding. My wife and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone and we would certainly use them again for any future holiday in South America.

“70th birthday surprise”

★★★★☆

written by on 02/02/2015

My husband has always had a notion to go to South America but has never done anything about it. I decided as it was a big occasion (his 70th) I would book it without telling him until it was all sorted. It turned out to be better than I expected and he loved it after he got over the shock. We had a delay initially and this was sorted and new flights arranged by Latin Routes, no problem. In Buenos Aires, the Tango evening was outstanding. We enjoyed walking around BA and didn't feel in any way threatened. We found the Blue Pound issue to b e particularly interesting! Igazu was great. We were met by a guide who helped us immensely. We visited both sides of the Falls. We found the Brazillian side had a better view. After that we went to Mendoza. The hotel there was in a vineyard and was fantastic. Beautiful restaurant. Then we had a hired car arranged by Latin Routes. We had a problem there because the documentation for travelling to Chile was not arranged. Eventually it got sorted out after a few hours! This was our only hiccup. We drove over the Andes to Santiago. A bit scary but unforgettable. This was when we realised that having a guide was a big bonus as we had trouble finding our hotel in the rush hour and also by smoothing our way through the borders. Santiago was very busy and we left our car in the hotel car park until we had to return to Mendoza. From there we travelled to El Calafete which at first we found to be a bit Hicksville. We had hired a car again and went to the Glacier. Again outstanding. Then to the piece de resistance. Torres del Paine. We didn't know what to expect here but it was awesome. Loved everything about it. The trips, hotel, scenery, weather were fab. We would thoroughly recommend it. We were able to meet other travellers there and chat and everyone agreed that this had been their best experience. Then back to Buenos Aires for three nights. We visited the Opera House which was majestic. The market on Sunday at San Telmo was worth a visit. All in all, we were very happy with the service provided by Latin Routes and hopefully may use them again.

“Trip of a lifetime”

★★★★★

written by Carolinetjones on 28/01/2015

We were considering a trip to South America when we met the Latin Routes team at the Adventure Travel Show in London last year. They asked us what our interests were (wildlife, walking and scenery were our top priorities) when we hoped to go (December and January) and suggested Patagonia combined with other places in Brazil Their knowledge and enthusiasm for Argentina, Chile and Brazil convinced us that this would be a great place to spend our 50 days to celebrate my partners 50th birthday. The lady we met came up with a superb itinerary and very patiently made changes as we planned and adapted what we wanted to do. The package of flights was exceptionally good value and the combination of destinations made for an extraordinary experience. We arrived on the Brazilian side of Iguazu, which is definitely worth seeing from Argentina as well, and travelled down one side of Argentina to Tierra del Fuego and then back up the other side in and out of Chile and Argentina. Latin Routes maintained contact throughout our trip, updating us on changes to our flights and answering any questions we had. Their advice about the logistics of visiting Torres del Paine was invaluable, as this is an area of outstanding natural beauty, but unless you stay in the national park, is almost impossible to enjoy. They secured us a great package at Los Torres Hotel, which was simply amazing and included transfers from El Calafate and then onto Punta Arenas. Do not underestimate the value of those transfers, as the drivers smooth the way at the border crossing which saves you hours. Those on buses were in massive queues. The package of excursions at Los Torres were excellent. If you like walking and horse riding you will be in your element. We were lucky with the weather and even saw pigmy owls and a puma, as the guides are always on the lookout for wildlife for you to see. So although this is an expensive option, it really is an exceptional place to visit. Do be aware though that the food can be a little disappointing at the evening buffet in the restaurant, but the bar was a great alternative. You actually have very little time for eating if you are out on the excursions as the days are very long. It is a great opportunity to meet some lovely people and the guides are really knowledgeable and genuinely interested in you and making your experience as enjoyable as possible. We organised most of our own accommodation for the trip , as we wanted to experience some hostels, which you have to book yourself, but we could have had all our accommodation organised for us and those suggested by Latin Routes did look very nice indeed. They also organised car hire in several places, which was great. We wanted to have a trip that allowed us to see as much as possible, hence the itinerary of flights, whilst retaining some opportunity to travel on the local buses, which are great in Argentina and Chile and organise our own trips in different destinations. The people in all the different types of accommodation can organise these locally if you choose and at quite late notice. However, if there are particular things that are important to you, it is worthwhile booking those things in advance. Such as walking with the penguins on an Island in Ushuaia, although we saw them from a boat which actually beached, so was just as good in our opinion, and included a wonder hike across Gable Island and canoeing up a river and in the Beagle Channel. Fabulous! Our only disappointment was the Chilean Lakes crossing. The weather was rainy so we did not get to enjoy the beautiful scenery. It involves 3 boats and 4 buses and we imagined a small group of us. Sadly despite the high expense, there were 4 coach loads and the logistics of sorting luggage and people at each change over was a nightmare for the guides and took considerable time, while we all had to wait around. This became very irritating. We left Puerto Varas (beautiful lakeside town in Chile at 8am and arrived in Bariloche another beautiful but much bigger city, in Argentina at about 10pm). I think on reflection we would suggest missing this crossing and taking a flight or alternative transport, as it is very expensive and the hotel in Puella, where you stop for lunch or to stay the night is a complete rip off and poorly run. The rest of our trip was faultless and we finished off in Chile in the Atacama Dessert, which was fantastic and we needed all 5 nights to fit in the trips. Santiago is great if you like museums and galleries but we preferred Valparaiso on the coast. Do not bother with a hire car, here as public transport is good. Overall we were very lucky with the weather, which I think helped a lot as we really love the outdoor activities. We would highly recommend Latin Routes if you are travelling to Latin America, no matter what your requirements, they can help you to make the best of the time and budget you have with their extensive local knowledge. We really appreciated the effort they made to understand what we wanted and talk us through numerous options. We will definitely be using their services for our next trip.

“Latin Routes is a must for South America!”

★★★★★

written by psthankiya on 16/01/2015

We booked a 2 week holiday to Argentina and Brazil arranged for us by Latin Routes. I must say it was a holiday of a life time! Firstly it was an absolute pleasure to work with the lady I dealt with, she had a lot of knowledge about the areas we wanted to visit and this was invaluable to us being first timers in South America. She understood immediately what elements of a holiday we required and produced a perfect itinerary within a very short time frame. Also when I changed the hotels numerous times, she was also very accommodating and suggested several alternatives to meet our needs and budget. All the arrangements were perfectly organised, this included our transfers, boutique hotels, tour guides and excursions. This contributed as much to the holiday as the destinations themselves. We were pleased to have Latin Routes support when we needed some information about flight upgrades and they responded very quickly to our request. We had the best time in South America and would like to say a big thank you to the lady I dealt with and Latin Routes for organising such a memorable vacation. We would definitely use them again and recommend them to our friends and family. A very professional company and lovely staff.

“Our first South American adventure - a great success!”

★★★★★

written by ElsieMo on 09/01/2015

Now that the Christmas & New Year festivities are over there is time to write a review worthy of the South American holiday experience we recently enjoyed in late Nov/early Dec - all exceedingly well planned and organised for us by Latin Routes. 15 days were spent exploring 5 different locations - a great combination of busy cities (Buenos Aires & Rio), the magnificent Iguazu Falls on the border of Argentina and Brazil, and 2 very relaxing yet different locations - a beautiful ranch in the countryside outside of Córdoba (Estancia Dos Lunas - where we were treated like royalty!) and the Brazilian beach peninsula of Buzios. The detailed plan and itinerary for our individual holiday (with photos of all of our hotels) was provided to us in booklet form well beforehand - this was really appreciated and useful for reference. We were a little dubious about using the overnight buses on our travels within Argentina, but this was unfounded as they proved to be both reliable and comfortable, we slept well and during the daylight hours saw more of the country than an airport lounge permits! All of the representatives who met us at airports/bus stations were on time, and helpful and knowledgeable with regard to any queries we had. The hotels chosen were well located for sightseeing and true to description. We will long remember the warmth and welcoming nature of the South American people. We're keen to return to explore other areas of South America in the future as it has so much to offer, and would definitely approach Latin Routes to pull together our holiday plans again. We have no hesitation in recommending this holiday company to others - you won't be disappointed - excellent value! (Note:- The above-mentioned holiday was to have been taken at the end of 2013, but due to an unfortunate accident a few weeks before departure which resulted in the need for surgery, it had to be cancelled and re-scheduled We were very grateful to Latin Routes and impressed by their prompt return of the appropriate proportion of paid funds due to us and the required confirmatory paperwork to enable the claim to be processed speedily - an indication of the helpful and accommodating nature of this company should a problem occur)

“Number One for South America”

★★★★★

written by malcolmandgillian on 22/11/2014

We chose Latin Routes as they gave us the flexibility to include in our holiday to Argentina a visit to the farm and estancia in Bariloche built by grandfather 80 years ago. They also arranged for us to see the director of the local museum, complete with translator to find out more about our family history. In addition to Patagonia our Latin Routes holiday included Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Mendoza and an amazing three day drive through the Andes mountains of the North West. Latin Routes arranged flights, car hire and accommodation for the whole 17 day trip, all of which were top notch. The next time we choose South America as a holiday destination, it will definitely be with Latin Routes.

written by uoFitch200 on 11/09/2014

We booked with Latin Roots for our 3 weel honeymoon in Argentina and we were certainly not disappointed. From the moment we enquired our Latin Roots agent made us feel like we'd made the right choice. They helped us plan the route around Argentina and recommended great accommodation and day trips. They really couldn't do enough to help and everything was thought of. We had a wonderful time which simply would not have been possible without Latin Roots help.

“City, Jungle, Wine”

★★★★★

written by KennaFitzpatrick110 on 18/08/2014

We choose a three centre stay, Buenos Airies, Iguazu falls & Mendoza(the wine area). At all points we were asked by an advisor how we wanted to do our trips and where we wanted to stay. The hotel & half day tour of Buenos Aries by Gus were brilliant. She had given us a hotel that meant we could walk easily around the city & find all the character, steak and free tango that the city is famed for. We then took a cab( very easy) to the domestic city airport for a LAN flight to Iguazu. LAN are part of the one world alliance & have a fantastic snack pack of Havanna biscuits on their domestic short haul-I would recommend this company. We then stayed in the most amazing jungle hotel-complete with tropical birds & strong mossie nets. She arranged for us to see the falls on two different days. I would definitely recommend this as words cannot describe the impact of what you see. 1day Argentina, 1. Day Brazil. It really is a benefit to go with a guide as they sort out all the customs & park passes for you. They can also book you on the grand adventure-not to be missed! Onto Mendoza on late night LAN (great staff made sure we got there despite a baggage handlers strike). She gave us 3 places to choose from-we were staggered by the beauty of our choice when we arrived. A small vineyard hotel with a jacuzzi overlooking the Andes & nightly wine tasting! The wine tour we went on was brilliant fun-with an excellent guide. A very social & enjoyable trip that included lunch in a vineyard. We also visited the vineyard of the hotel we stayed in-wonderful. One more night of fun in B. A and then home on BA! The joy of a direct flight-I think it is a false economy to go cheaper as it will invariably mean that you waste holiday time sitting in transit lounges. A memorable & hugely enjoyable holiday that felt like 3 trips in one! I would totally recommend Latin Routes for their excellent suggestions, knowledge about the areas. Excellent service both before, during and after. Muchas Gracias!

“Superbly efficient”

★★★★★

written by Jworcester on 14/07/2014

We have not yet had our holiday to Chile/Argentina/Brazil but if the quality service and efficiency of the planning to confirmation is anything to go by then it will be a smooth and fantastic experience. Latin Routes turned our initial musings and chat at a travel show into an impressive and detailed itinerary in less than a week. We made a number of subsequent changes and additions to what will be a 6 week trip and everything was dealt with in the same courteous and efficient manner. They get the balance right in offering their expert knowledge and tailoring the holiday for your particular preferences. Much better service than other companies we have used for S.America, OZ, NZ.

“Efficient, reliable and fast service!”

★★★★★

written by Baker1959 on 21/06/2014

Visited Chile in March 2014, the staff at Latin Routes were able to offer a tailor made trip at the most competitive price. Our endless requests were always promptly accommodated and every aspect of the trip was carefully planned to satisfy our (picky!) travellers needs. Local agent was not as good and let us down a couple of times but thankfully the staff at LR were able to follow up on our behalf and resolve the issues. If you are looking for a reliable tour operator, I would definitely recommend Latin Routes.

“LATIN ROUTES FOR SOUTH AMERICA !”

★★★★★

written by on 20/04/2014

We have just returned from a very enjoyable holiday in Argentina and Brazil arranged for us by the advisor at Latin Routes. It was a pleasure to work with her who has lived and worked in South America and we certainly benefitted from her great knowledge of Argentina and its tourist industry. She understood very quickly what elements of a holiday we required and produced a perfect itinerary, including hotels, in less than 24 hours – we have never finalised a holiday so quickly! During our time away all arrangements fell into place; our transfers were on time and the chosen boutique hotels reflected different aspects of Argentinian culture, contributing as much to the holiday as the destinations themselves. We were pleased to have Latin Routes support when a local airline cancelled our flight and they quickly contacted their South American associates who made alternative arrangements to get us to our destination with a minimum of delay. We had a great holiday in South America and thank Latin Routes for putting it together for us.

“Excellent travel agent”

★★★★★

written by HBourner on 04/04/2014

We travelled to Argentina and Brazil with Latin Routes in March 2014. This was our first trip to South America and although I have organised holidays independently in the past, I was a little bit daunted about arranging this on my own. I contacted several travel companies and Jess was the first to respond with a phone call to get a clearer idea of where we wanted to go and what we wanted to get out of the holiday. Within a couple of days I had received an itinerary and quote, which Jess was then more than happy to tweak repeatedly until we were completely happy. Once we had booked we were still able to book additional excursions and Jess was always happy to answer questions and provide information. A few weeks before we were due to leave one of our internal flights was cancelled. This was dealt with extremely efficiently and with minimal effort on our part and with very little disruption to our original itinerary. The day before we left I received a phone call to check everything was ok and an email with restaurant recommendations. There was a welcome letter waiting for us on arrival and when we emailed with a question while away we received a prompt and helpful response. I then received a follow up call once we returned to make sure we had enjoyed our holiday. All in all we received an excellent service from start to finish. All the hotel choices were perfect, we were picked up from every airport by friendly drivers and all the arrangements worked perfectly. We had an incredible holiday and I would not hesitate to use Latin Routes again if I was ever lucky enough to return to Argentina.
