I just booked a flight to Mombasa via Lastminute. Everything went well online and the money was taken. The confirmation email was received immediately - but from BravoFly, not Lastminute (same set of people cowboys it would seem )However, after a few hours, they emailed me to say the flight was no longer available. ( It was still being sold on their website however many hours later). They offered me an alternative at £110 more. Unfortunately the alternative was similar only in that it flew on the same dates - totally different departure and arrival times as well as a different airline. I mailed back stating that the alternative was unacceptable and that I wanted my money back pronto. We have now to wait at least 72 hours for a response to any customer service queries as they are busy - possible sorting out all the foul ups like this.
I am at present over £1200 out of pocket, but fortunately paid by Visa.
It is certainly possible for availability to be checked automatically BEFORE taking money. It obviously does not suit them do so - after all if they do this enough times they get a shed load of money for doing nothing but creaming off the interest before paying back.
Bad companies, Bravofly/Lastminute.
Back to Expedia for me.

Update: I gave them another try - only because of the really low prices and my money had been returned very quickly. This time, same dates nearly the same timings but KLM/Kenya Airways Flights rather than Emirates. Everything went very smoothly, and within a few seconds of payment, my confirmation /etickets were in my inbox. So on that basis, 5*.

Hi, I did not do anything different. I suspect that the problem was with Emirates. I have since booked 3 further KLM/Kenya Airways flights with Lastminute and had no problems at all. In fact they have been on the ball when the airlines have made flight time adjustments too. I also had to contact Customer Service , got straight through and got an answer immediately. At least on the first occasion, my money was returned rapidly. I had a similar problem with Opodo and it took 14 weeks to get my money back.
