We stayed at Camping Village Fabulous in the outskirts of Rome for a week in May. This was a very economical way to see all the attractions of Rome. Ideal for a couple. 16 euros each bought us a travel pass for the week - this covers all bus, Metro and tram journeys. We even went to Ostia Antica on the same pass. The journey into Rome takes about 40 minutes by bus and Metro.

The site is good - we ate in the restaurant most nights. The ice cream parlour was also great! No need to hire a car - wouldn't really want to drive through Rome anyway!
