“Good Price but horrible booking experience!”

★★☆☆☆

Giving 2 starts only because of price, otherwise would be 1:

Bookit.com had the best price for the trip my fiance wanted for our honeymoon and everything was fine until after making the booking. When creating the booking, the website makes it appear as if hotel, airfare, and car-rental all go their website as three seperate charges and you can select one form of payment for all 3.

I got payment authorized emails right away for hotel and airfare but an unauthorized payment email for the car rental telling me I should check with my bank. I proceeded to contact my credit card and discoved no charges were declined.

After that, I called Bookit.com and asked why the payment was did not go through since my credit card company did not decline any charges. The service representative told me a different area of the company called CarTrawler handles the car rentals and transferred me over to them. This is when things got very upsetting. The bookit.com representative was obsiously from the US while the CarTrawler representative was not and the conversation was hard to hear and understand for both parties (me and him).

I was informed that CarTrawler did not accept the form of payment entered on bookit.com. Obviously they are not the same company and it was a third party performing the car rentals for Bookit.com. This was obviously not a seemless transaction and Bookit.com obviously did not verify the entire booking process for all payment options all the way through on their own website. In essence they offer payment options that "they" cannot process.

Since I had been told by the bookit rep that CarTrawler was part of bookit, I asked the CarTrawler rep why they would not take all the same form of payments. That is when he informed me they are "affiliated" but not the same company so the bookit rep had misreprested the original relationship between bookit and cartrawler. Since they were affiliated, I asked him to conference in a bookit rep and he proceeded to tell me he did not have the capability. How could a company, who I was told was actually part of bookit.com, not be able to conference in the affiliate company when that company is the source of the transaction?

After spending some painful time on the phone and using a different form of payment, the car rental booking issue was resolved. I called bookit.com back and they did little to help or alleviate my aggrevation or time I wasted for their website not working correctly. They said they would take the feedback into consideration and look into the process error. So now I would up doing their quality control job for their own website, spent hours of my time, and just ended up frustrated with the entire experience. The lack of testing their own full functionality and lack of transparency relaying that there are third parties involved was quite disappointing and I would not recommend them. Sadly, I have not even taken my trip yet so I hope that works out well.
