venice staying in mestre

very happy with our mini break in venice organised by harris at bluesea olidays.We stayed at hotel delfino in mestre ,room clean ,staff helpful ...breakfast average but adequate, best to stick with continental breakfast,fridge in room real bonus as we stocked up on wine and beer from excellent supermarket next door,bus service very good from airport 18 euro return drops you off at railway station in mestre hotel 10 min walk away return is on opposite side of road outside hotel plaza...don't get muddled with the two airports ...we saw a couple who were running late to get to Treviso nearly get on marco polo airport bus ! ,went straight into venice on arrival taking actv bus in ...bought return ticket in hotel which was 2 euro 60cents...next day we bought two passes for actv buses and water taxi again in the hotel, 30 euro for 48 hours well worth cost ...used them thoroughly activated from first time you swipe them ...food in venice not brill cheapest to buy snacks from pizza bars etc or make some sandwiches and take them in with you .bell tower at st marks good but better views we thought from san giorgio maggiore bell tower ...6 euro and no queues.
