Train & Drive to tour Canada

My wife and I have just returned from our trip to Canada / Alaska using Rocky Peak Holidays to organise our package. The company organised the transport and accommodation for the majority of our tour, which gave us the framework to build our holiday around. It enabled us to have an input into how we would spend our days. I thought it a good time to write to the company to express our thanks for their help and patience in the planning stages. We had a great holiday. Both Canada and Alaska are beautiful countries and we feel very privileged to be able to tour both of these places, even if it was on such a small scale.
I am so pleased that we decided on different modes of transport as each provided their own special way of touring.
The Rocky Mountaineer was great - fabulous scenery and we enjoyed the luxury of the train ride. It also enabled us to meet others on board.
Hiring the car to drive between Jasper and Calgary gave us the independence we so enjoy and allowed us to visit places I had researched. We had no trouble driving , even if we were driving on the other side of the road.The car also allowed us the time to stay on at places longer than we might otherwise had been permitted if we were travelling by coach. We were able to stop where we found bears playing and eating by the side of the road. Or stop at a glacier-fed lakes and waterfalls whenever we wanted. May I also recommend the GyPSie GPS system that we used while driving. It was a far superior system than I have used previously, which provided not only directions but also historical and cultural details of the area in which we were travelling.
The cruise to the Inside Passage was very special, accessing places that are otherwise inaccessible, such as Glacier Bay. I also felt that doing the cruise last was a good way to end our trip, as others we met did the cruise first. (Just my thoughts)
Our accommodation was faultless - using Fairmont Hotels throughout the trip, gave us a level of luxury that we certainly enjoyed. These hotels also gave us access to gyms and swimming pools, which are facilities that make travel a little easier. I signed up to the President's Club, which provided additional, benefits such as free internet access at all Fairmont Hotels, something suggested to me by our tour operator.
As part of the tour operator's job, I know you recommend to your customers certain hotels. May I suggest that you continue to highly recommend both Lake Louise Chateau and Banff Springs Fairmont Hotels. I am not in any way downgrading the other hotels in which we stayed but people travelling to these places should experience both of these hotels.
The extras that you were able to give to us, such as Glacier tour and the lookouts at both Vancouver and Calgary were thoughtful touches to enhance our trip.
We had a fabulous holiday - an experience we will remember and so I am very grateful for the assistance provided by this company. Often travelling can be an anxious time, however, I feel due to our planning (you and me) we had little to be anxious about and allowed us to simply enjoy every moment.
Sorry for the long email, but I think you can understand my excitement.
