Staying in Plan Peisey in the Alps there were not many shops that sold a multitude of different foods. The store is right near lots of the chalets and flats in the town and we used to pop in after skiing as it was on the way back to our chalet. The local Sherpa is a small grocery store and sells lots of different foods and household goods. Plenty of cheeses, meats and most importantly, beers ;) The prices are fairly high but as you are a captive audience there is not much you can do about it. They even stocked some streaky bacon which is really hard to find in the small Alpine towns and had a selection of English sweets, which we didn't buy as they had a huge mark-up, plus why buy stuff from home when you can try different things for a change. The staff were friendly, they spoke French which was good for us as most switch straight to English so we got to practise our accents (sometimes terrible). Good to have. If you are staying in Plan Peisey have a look at Sherpa when you arrive so you can see if there is anything you need that you have forgotten (like shower gel...we forgot).
