The Manager of Orpington store Could not have been more helpfull ! My young Daughter went into a hypo and was Sick in the store. The Manager came straight to Us and reasured me not to worry about the mess, asked what he can do /get to help. He stayed and helped and once she was stable enough to move with were moved to the privacy of the staff room. The Manager stayed So calm and really caring. As this was my childs 1st hypo. i was panicking and helped me to stay calm too. I honestly can not Thank him enough. Such a lovely Kind and calm Gentlmen. My Daughter did not stop being sick - i felt so embarrassed. But it Didnt bother him ,He was so attentive and helpfull. When the Ambulance arrived he followed us out and made sure my daughter was ok. And on returning to shop instore a week or so later, He came and asked How My little girl was. manager of Orpington Store. “Fantastic shop spoiled by one rude checkout man”

★★★★☆

written by gpReeves330 on 11/01/2020

They sell all the good brand names like Heinz beans for rock bottom prices, and always have useful and interesting new items in the range. Happy feeling to the shops. However one checkout man makes rude comments about the customer (eg. apparel) and about the items chosen, so this can spoil the whole experience, if you just want to take home your shopping without being "judged". They stopped helping with packing and you feel stared/hurried/rushed into departing the checkout area which can cause items (eg. wallet, glasses, purchases etc.) to be left behind. All bags now plastic and 10p with no alternatives. Sometimes overcharged by the above checkout man, and wondered why he asked "Do you want a receipt?"

“Very poor customer service”

★★☆☆☆

written by neilparker56 on 01/07/2019

Stood at the one checkout open in the Aberystwyth Store today with a queue of about six people, and a very slow checkout and watched as a group of at least five staff chatted by a freezer, and could clearly see what was happening. Eventually a young man wandered over to the till furthest away, and opened it up. He didn't say a word as he walked past, and we all had to work out what he was doing. Seriously poor perception of customer awareness.

“Parking and Customer Service & fining me £100 for...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by wolfie883 on 31/01/2019

I visited Caernarfon store to do my Christmas shop. It's a small store with an even smaller car park which is regularly log jammed with cars trying to park. I did my shop in a busy store and then joined the massive lines at the till. It took quite some time to be served but hay it's christmas. I finally left the shop and loaded my car. Then I had to wait while cars blocked the car park looking for parking spaces. I finally left. Today, 31at Jan 2018 i receive a parking fine for £100 for overstating in free parking for 13mins !! £100 !!!!! omg if youd of staffed your store during this peak season with enough people on the tills and ensured people didn't block the car park then I wouldn't of overstayed by 13mins. And you want £100 reduced to £60 if I pay by the 7\2\19. Me overstating is down to your company not having enough staff on the tills so is this your way of making even more money out of your customers ?

You should sue Home Bargains. Write to their manager/Head Office because you are obviously a good customer and have been treated abysmally.

“Terrible service ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Doyle405 on 24/01/2019

Went into the Wrexham store today bought a notebook the cashier scanned it I gave her the money. Then I stood there waiting for my receipt and change she then said to the person behind me do u need a bag. I’m still standing there for my receipt and change I then asked her for it and she started rummaging in her bin for it then said to me what did you buy. The notebook she just scanned a couple of seconds ago. I then told her to forget it and was then shouted at that I was a horrible person by the customer she was serving that rammed her trolley into me at least 3 times by the tills and her. Sorry but this is basic training giving the customer there receipt and change. Will never shop at that store again .

“Great shop but staff need manners”

★★★☆☆

written by on 03/09/2018

I love your shop at Caernarfon. Plenty of stock at affordable prices, all my family shop here often. But I have to say I was really disappointed by the service by one of your staff yesterday. One of the tills were out of order so another had to be opened. A female member of staff went behind the till and I went over with my buys with a smile and a hello, no reply, just a sour face scanning my items. I bagged up my things, she said the price, no please, I paid, she said ‘here’s your receipt’ and looked away to scan the next customers buys. I just gave a little chuckle in disbelief that someone could be so miserable serving customers. I don’t expect full on chit chat, but it doesn’t cost anything to say hello, please or thank you, maybe even a little smile? It won’t stop me going to the store but I will be avoiding this individual when visiting next.

A morning checkout man at Chester (Vicars Cross) always makes rude comments about my apparel and purchases. I just want to take home my shopping without being "judged". In my experience no other till person has ever acted like this to me and other customers anywhere, so I avoid the shop in the mornings.

“Worst customer service anywhere”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Melblkpool on 28/07/2017

Purchased two ready to eat salad bowls, opened them that evening everything was wet and soggy uneatable. The shop would have been closed at this time so could not take them back and working the rest of the week so emailed customer services, you cant ring them. Got a reply 2 days later asking for a photo, why would anyone keep 2 bowls of soggy uneatable and by this time rotting salad? Informed them I did not have them received an email back saying without a photo they would do nothing, not even refund under £2:00 for the salads. God help anyone who buys anything expensive from them and needs a refund. Avoid this store at all costs there are plenty of other places out there they do not deserve any customers if this is the way they treat them.

“Really helpful store manager”

★★★★☆

written by Putin1 on 06/12/2016

I have read the other reviews posted here and thought maybe it wasn't home bargains I went to. The staff were all friendly and very helpful, the atmosphere went throughout the shop, customers were considerate and the queues at the till, although five or six deep - 20 days before Christmas- were all agreeable. The store manager was extremely helpful as were the staff in the warehouse. I was actually impressed - not what I expected at all. I had assumed that Home bargains must really look after their staff to obtain that level of service but maybe that is not the reason here.

“Very helpful staff member at Rotherham town centre store”

★★★★★

written by Lindsr on 21/11/2016

I went into the Rotherham town centre store on Sunday, 20th November 2016. I must say that the lady on the checkout was very helpful and friendly. I went back to buy some trellis and again she was helpful. A lovely young man served me with the trellis and also asked the manageress if he could carry it to my car for me, which she agreed to. I must admit I did not expect that. Home Bargains could teach more expensive stores a thing or two about customer care. Well done Rotherham.

“food contamination”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/04/2016

I went to my local store to buy food and fire lighters I asked for them to give me a free bag for the fire lighters in order to stop contamination of petrol from them I was refused so I sent there head office a email this was there reply. (Home Bargains Support) 25 Apr, 11:05 Thank you for your query. I can confirm that bags would not usually be charged for by retailers, according to Government law, if the following applies: You’re not required to charge for plastic bags that are for: -uncooked fish and fish products -uncooked meat, poultry and their products -unwrapped food for animal or human consumption - eg chips, or food in containers that aren’t secure enough to prevent leakage during handling -unwrapped loose seeds -flowers -bulbs, corms or rhizomes (roots, stems and shoots, such as ginger). -goods contaminated by soil (like potatoes or plants) I'm afraid firelighters are not included in this list. More information can be found here: guidance/carrier-bag-charges-retailers-responsibilities#bags-youre-not-required-to-to-charge-for I hope this information helps, but if we can be of assistance in any other way please don't hesitate to get back in touch with us. Kind Regards,   How about that I will not shop there again.
