PoorqualityBooths's review of Booths

“Ready meals.”

★★☆☆☆

written by PoorqualityBooths on 21/10/2014

I shop at Booths on a weekly basis in Settle. Now lets be honest this is not a discount store, its damn expensive but the range and quality of food is pretty good. However today I bought a ready meal, a Chilli Co Carne, that was apparently lovingly crafted by a husband and wife team of Michelin trained and starred chefs from Clitheroe to taste as good but better than the ones we could cook at home. Was it cheap? I will leave you to guess the answer on that. It was edible, admittedly but in no way palatable and resembled no such Chilli I have ever encountered. It was a slightly warm, watery mince stew with cheap long grain rice. This is the first review of either a supermarket or food that they sell I have ever posted and am hugely disappointed with Booths ,who I have always trusted , to stock such rubbish. I realise that Aldi, Lidl etc are making inroads in the market but there is no excuse for selling produce that the discount supermarkets would reject at premium prices. Going to think about future weekly shops and consider whether the trip to Skipton with its greater choice makes sense. Please Booths, if you are going to continue to be trusted and receive our patronage, do not treat your customers like a cash cow that you have no respect for.
