The Motley Fool, to give this site its full name, is a great place to learn how to invest. On arrivla ignore the sales pitch of the website itself and head straight for the discussion forums. When I joined up many years ago I had just the foggiest notion about buying and selling shares and every worthwhile thing I have learned has been learnt here. For many years I bought and sold shares guided by so-called experts, and every gain was eventually accompanied by a corresponding or sometimes greater loss. At the fool I began to appreciate different investment strategies and how they fitted with my own goals. I learned by listening to the advice offered by others; not people trying to sell to me, but people with more experience and not a little wisdom. Now I am planning for my retirement, making my own investments, and not contributing to the champagne lifestyle of the so called experts. If you are interested in taking control of your finances, I would heartily recommend the Motley Fool.
