TruroTrader's review of IWEB Share Dealing www.iweb-sharedealing.co.uk

“A terrific start for iweb”

written by TruroTrader on 10/04/2014

I have just opened a stocks and shares ISA with iweb.

Prior to this I have used Halifax Sharebuilder for the last nine years and Halifax shares ISA last year. This is the same platform as iweb.

I have used Halifax's regular monthly buying plan about a 150/200 times and only did I have a query. Every buy or sell trade I have done has always gone through on the price I clicked on and you can print the Contract note within a minute or two. I probably do some 10/20 trades a year.

I opened up an iweb shares ISA a couple of weeks ago and on Sunday 06/04/14 moved £11880.00 into it and used their forward order feature system to buy £4100 'at best' of an AIM stock on Monday the 7th. This they did and the price I paid was such that when I checked on Digit Look the price I paid was so low that they had it shown as a sell!

I used the balance later that day to make one other trade and so the cost from iweb has been £10 total. They haven't as yet taken the one off £25 fee. Impressed? You bet I am.

I'm not to certain what went wrong here. I use iweb and the Halifax Dealing Service which iweb actually uses. iweb since this Tax Year and Halifax for 9 years

On both services when you go to the dealing section you enter the stock and the amount of shares or cash of what you wish to buy or sell.

When you hit the Buy or Sell button you get a message saying " We are contacting our extensive counter-parties please wait a few seconds". You then get a firm price quote. This lasts for 15 seconds. You accept or decline. If you decline nothing changes but if you accept then you are given a contract reference. If you then click on the reference you can print out the legally binding contract then and there.

This whole process can take less than two minutes - Simples!

I am gradually changing to iweb because the dealing costs are less.

However iweb does not offer a regular purchase option (say £100 a Month) and Halifax does. When you use this service you get the price that Halifax obtains and the deal goes through on that basis but dealing costs are small.

Also if you sell or buy "At Best" you get the deal they got you. The actual choice of how you deal is up to you.

I hope this helps
