handle hot

My Eurosteam iron's handle is so hot, I can't use it without a pot holder or glove on my hand. What would cause this issue? It still irons fine, but it scares me. I've had it sitting on my ironing board and loved it when I first got it. For as expensive as it was (got it at quilt show and the vendor has not returned the last couple of years.)

I still have the travel iron - new in the box, but need to know where or if this can be repaired. It says return to place you bought it - which is impossible.
