I won a competition and was awarded dinner, bed and breakfast at The Mill, 1 Mill Street, Stone, Staffs. The food was absolutely fantastic and wasn't expensive, although I didn't have to pay. We ordered off the al la carte menu - I had the salmon fishcakes for starters and the pork fillet with mushroom and pepper sauce with chips and salad for mains, my husband had goats cheese for starters and the duck with new potatoes and veg. for main course. Both the duck and pork were cooked to perfection and the chips were hand cut and crispy.
The food was served really quickly and there seemed to be plenty of waiters/waitresses.
The room was really clean and the bed comfortable and the breakfast was excellent - two sausages, two slices of thick cut bacon, two hash browns, egg, mushrooms, beans and tomatoes - the plate was full. Fruit juice, cereal, toast and tea or coffee. We didn't eat again until 5.00 p.m.
I recommend this Hotel and Restaurant - which was a flour mill - to everyone. I wish I didn't live so far away as this would certainly be my local eatery.
