Purchased nearly new. A superb car. It's actually my wife's and we both love it. Performance is great with power increased to 155 bhp and torque also increased. Very comfortable and no need to augment support in the front seats. Great gearbox. Back amply roomy for two adults in comfort, but rarely used. Electric driver's seat with memory is convenient for two drivers. In winter, heated front seats compensate for the coldness of leather. I like the cruise control, but my wife won't use it. Tyre wear minimal; still on original rear tyres after 42000 miles. Rear brakes bind if left on with car parked for a few days or more, so don't leave them on. No body mods. It's nice the way it is.

I have a very stylish year 2000 scarlet red Peugeot 406 Coupe SE 2.2 Hdi company car. Nice car apart from it being underpowered. Have had a number of niggling little problems including knocking rear struts. Turned out to be oversized washers top of the struts! Small boot opening another little problem. Imagine expensive on spare parts when they get old.

The Peugeot 406 coupe SE 2.2 Hdi is a drivers car. It handles the road even better than the 306 Turbo, even in the wet. The steering is light but responsive and the power is always available to force the car out of a tricky spot.
This is my third peugeot in a row, and I have never been let down.

I used to have a 406 3.0 SE Coupe, which was a great car, with a couple of problems. The power steering pump broke 3 times, and the bill was over £1000 to replace it. The second problem was the handling - it had plenty of grunt, it eats long motorway journeys for breakfast, but get onto a twisty B-road and it would thump and squeak round the bends as you approached them with enthusiasm. If you buy this car (and it's an amazing second hand bargain if you can find one) it's beautifully designed, fast & refined, but it's a luxury sports cruiser...not a mean, street-shredding sports car.

Just a quick note to be aware of the outrageous cost of spare parts for this car. The mechanical parts are quite pricey but the body panels are ludicrous. The front bumper costs £670.00 including VAT not including any of the moulding or radiator grill.

I had one of these for my summer in France, after a month of hard use I can honestly say this car is better than you have any right to expect, however if it were my own money I was spending I would still look elsewhere, they are overpriced. Good second hand buy though - but check the rear end carefully bits snap I am told!
