looking for a cheaper replacement bike for a Fazer FZ1 and this came up on ebay with trident underseat pipes, single sided swingarm but high mileage.I've got to say it's absolutely brilliant. Better than a twin or a four. Superb engine, great gearbox and v.good handling now the fork oil's been changed.Suprises lots of big sports bikes and it sounds unbelievable with the trident pipes. now done 66000m and I will be keeping it for ever !!

I have owned mine for three years and never tire of its great performance. I have used it for courier work for one winter and had a blast around London.

I smile constantly when riding. My partner tell me she fell in love with the bike before me!!!!

Fantastic through the twisty stuff, and can be ridden all day rain or shine.

10 out of 10!!

Now has 130,000km. Still in pristine condition and totally reliable. Has travelled all of NZ in all weathers and never missed a beat. Shims checked every 20k, Motul oil change every 5k. Extra's include Triumph carbon pipe,Pipercross air filter, TuneBoy tuned, carbon heel guard, 675 black anodised front brake reserviour. Sold the RS at 40k, bought it back at 86k as a write off. Made a few changes after the crash that have improved handling changed the look minorly. Fittede single side swingarm (from 04ST), T595 front yokes & forks, fairing is a cut down T595 fibreglass item. Running on Pirelli Rosso's has proven a good choice:)

Very usable power at all speeds. Tremendous acceleration. Super stable. Great in the curves. Looks fantastic. Excellent mileage. Very reliable. If you have a chance to cop one of these on the second hand market, do it!

★★★★★

written by on 10/09/2008

I bought this bike new May 2006, been to France and Spain two up. Comfortable for long distance touring, yet nibble enough for scratching at the week-ends. (solo). The RS can also carry plenty of luggage, I have a 52lt Top Box, and a 28 Lt tank bag, handles great 2 up plus all the luggage. I have been told that the RS could be a collectors bike in years to come as not a great deal of them were made. So if you have a good one as I have, hang on to it.I also have a scooter which I use in the week for short trips to keep the mileage down on the RS. I have also been fortunate enough to still have dry miles on the bike which is a bonus. There is also plenty of goodies to add and still readily available. My carbon fibre race can has pumped the bhp up by 5. a hugger, fender extender, rear cowl cover, double bubble screen etc are just a few things you may want to add to your bike. All in all I am very happy with the RS, and I cant see any-thing out there at the moment worth changing for.

written by on 12/07/2008

The Triumph Spirit RS is an aggressive sports tourer that rips. Always wanted a VFR and ended up with a Sprint RS with no regrets. Have no interests in a VFR anymore cause this bike destroys it. VFR's are only 800cc and the RS is 955 which makes it better for two up touring or even solo twistys. The wind protection is adequate for a half fairing machine. Buddies on sports bikes are stretching and squerming long before I feel uncomfortable. Great bike for you and that special someone to ride long hours into the sunset. Even greater if that special someone stays at home then you can really whip it into the turns bachelor style. Great bike.

“I'm a 30 year old college student and I've had my 2000...”

written by Nites on 30/06/2008

I'm a 30 year old college student and I've had my 2000 Triumph Sprint RS for 8 years/ Racing Yellow. I have yet to find a bike that meets my needs any better. It's my primary vehicle and gets used as a daily driver for an hour commute. I'm a bigger rider 6'2 300lbs (athletic) and I do not really fit well on a lot of bikes, especially with the low streamlined tanks and tight rearsets. The handling rivals any other sportbike for the backroad twisties. Modifications include a 2 Bros. carbon fiber can, K&N filter, PIrelli Diablo tires, Givi E460 topcase, Custom upholstered gel seat, Genmar risers, dark Zero Gravity screen, Laminar Lip and some custom cosmetic touches. I've had the bike rejetted and tuned and it reads about 140+ hp on a dyno. (stock hp was about 108 before work) I've had this bike up to 180 mph on highway and still wanted to go. (0-60 in 3 sec) What's great about this bike is that I can keep up with the GSXR's and R1's out there but still be able to throw my laptop and backpack in the topcase.

“I purchased my Triumph Sprint RS in Portland Oregon as...”

★★★★★

written by mineng 101 on 03/06/2006

I purchased my Triumph Sprint RS in Portland Oregon as my first motorcycle. I admit that it was far more powerful than I needed for a first bike, but the triple cylinder engine has such a broad powerband that it is fairly easy to learn on as long as you do not slam open the throttle. The bike is incredibly fast, I hit 155 on a straight before having to back off, but it does not scream to be thrashed all the time like a full sportbike does. Not to say I didn't thrash it from time to time. The brakes were very strong and easy to modulate. Unfortunately the bike was totalled in March when a pickup turned left in front of me before I had a chance to hit my brakes. The bike was completely totalled, but I know that I will own another Triumph when I get the chance. I think that the biggest problem I had with the bike was the fact that there are not that many dealerships around so finding a place to get parts can be difficult. That and the parts can be very expensive.

I bought my Triumph Sprint RS after much research and deliberation.
I spoke to a few mechanics, ST & T100 owners and the forums to see if the raves were just raves, or to justify the bike they had bought.
I took an 03 RS for a spin and fell in love with the bike immediately.
I am most impressed with the rideability, flexibility and powerband. The bike flys, corners, accelerates and makes a great noise to boot (Triumph carbon can).
2up they are equally predicable and comfortable for my wife on the back.
I commute 2 hours per day but didn't want to look like an old so and so on a bike and wanted to be able to have a thrash when I felt like it. The comfort factor is fantastic

★★★★☆

written by tbclay on 29/12/2005

Overall the Triumph Sprint RS is a very easy bike to ride considering its power and speed. The engine sounds throaty and beast-like, and the gears are as smooth as a hot knife through butter. I think the bike looks pretty good but I prefer the look of the Jap bikes, e.g Honda VFR, if I'm honest. That said, everone else loves it, so maybe I'm just used to looking at it. I am pretty annoyed about blistering on the black engine casing and on the alloys (only done 1,900 mainly dry miles) but perhaps I am just a perfectionist. I prefer riding it without a pillion on the back as, shallow as it seems, the bike looks much better with the seat cowling on, especially when parked up! Triumph really went to town at Windy Corner in Leicestershire when I was looking around and sold me the bike with a big smile. Sadly I haven't found the after-sales services as friendly.

Sorry to hear you had bad aftersales service. I can't fault Philip McCallen Motorcycles in Northern Ireland they are always helpful and friendly every time I go. I only called in while passing one day to see what there was and walked out with a new bike. I thought something was wrong with it but it turned out that it was my fault going to fast and expecting it to stop on a sixpence. I love the Triumph RS and I can't keep the wife of it. 100% better than my old Triumph Bonnie I had in the sixties.

“The triple motor 955i Triumph Sprint RS is excellent...”

written by grobson on 20/08/2004

The triple motor 955i Triumph Sprint RS is excellent from it's bark through to it's user friendliness. The gearbox is great for clutchless upshifts and with well spaced cogs it's great for short shifting or a blast, with no false neutrals found.
Little evidence of wear and tear due to quality of finish. Bike runs on Bridgestones which give very good grip and mileage. Fuel economy is good which relates to good progress as not too many stops required.
Mirrors are buzz free but if you are quite broad the narrow spacing makes it more difficult to see.
Fairing instrument hanger finish is not as good as rest of bike, however a coating of wax oil is all thats required to remedy that.
Basically it goes well, sounds good and costs are low.

Totally agree with all you say but it would be good to have some hard luggage like the ST. Unfortunately soft panniers don't do the job for longer touring.
