“Total Nightmare”

I had my solar panels installed in 2014 by My Planet. When rep visited they gave us over exaggerated return figures for the system, we didn't know then they would be no where near figures quoted and got finance over 10 years to pay for them.After installation, we started to get leaks in our home which were checked on more than one occasion and we were told that that loft was dry. After three months of constant phone calls, emails and then to discover that the panels were not working properly, they finally came out to sort problems out.We thought every thing was fine until the weather got bad again and then we got even more water coming into the house again, due to a second inverter string being put in. It took a month of phone calls, emails until finally the problem of the leaks was put right.I had my system checked and was told every thing was working properly, until a got my feed in tariff cheque, then it was obvious that equipment wasn't working again. Altogether we have been dealing with this for well over a year and now have mould issues in our home. We went with this company because it was endorsed by all the leading companies, this has proven to be the worst decision we have ever made.  It seems that although 'My Planet' is legally a separate company, it is inextricably linked to 'Our Planet': I have emailed 'My Planet' and received a reply from 'Our Planet'. There are definite links between the two businesses.  We are now getting our system checked once again, this has been a total nightmare from the start and we are now in the process of taking our complaint further.

I know just how you feel, when did you have your panels installed? If you paid using finance who did you use and what did the company tell you to persuade you into installing the panels? You can take your complaint further if you used finance, I know only too well, the consequences of believing every thing during the reps visit only to find that you have been lied to and it been nowhere near the true figures and two years down the line, to discover the truth. One of the companies mentioned on this site have tried to remove my review twice, I note they don't dispute, everything I have written about my experience and their incompetence caused by the people they employed but was they were willing to dispute a link between the two companies. but because I have proof showing that the companies must have possible links because I sent an email to one and received a reply from the other company. I would definitely urged all customers to let other people using this site of their experience. I know a large number of us were mislead into buying panels under false assumptions regarding performance, we are now discovering this is a grey area to prove. The more people who writes a review of their experience, at the hands of these dodgy companies, like these, can only be a good thing. I note they are good solar panel installers out there but unfortunately for us, we didn't go with them but instead but our trust in companies who despite industry endorsements and numerous consumer codes are now, badly let down, with no where to turn.

“Dreadful Company”

Perfect service when selling but everything changes once they have your money. They don’t turn up for appointments, promises are broken and phone calls, emails, text messages and even a letter to MD were all ignored. After 9 months system generating pro rata a massive 42% LESS than their minimum figure - but they say all working properly.

“Warranty is worthless, My planet now switched to Our...”

I have just commented on another review on here as I`m furious to see My Planet cleverly not fold, but `stop` installing solar, despite their connection to a different firm that still does install solar: 'Our Planet'. What a joke. So here we have a company that installed a huge amount of solar panels and clearly does not want to take the responsibility now for them. To state on their website that this is due to the government cuts is, in my opinion, untruthful to say the least! If it's due to government cuts, why be so closely linked with another company (Our Planet') that is still doing the same thing? What a joke.

Dear Tweeterooa`s. That is incorrect as you well know. My Planet is in liquidation, appointed liquidators are Doyle Davies Ltd. My Planet company number 06636963. I recently contacted My Planet to arrange for a repair of my system but found out it is in liquidation. A five minute internet search reveals `Our Planet` have the same accounting office. And the Director Mr Mark Bonaficio also appears on the companies house records for both companies.
My gripe is that My Planet have folded stating that the FIT tariff cut is to blame, and yet a similar named company with the same logo, including the same directors and at an accounting office used by both companies now trades. It is my opinion that this is no coincidence. Also a very underhand tactic to ditch 1000`s of customers including myself who worked hard to purchase a solar PV system that we can no longer have serviced or make call outs under warranty.
A simple question, will happen once Our planet have their fill of solar work, will they go into liquidation also ?

“Please do NOT use this company!”

Well ... where do I start! Had a rep round November 2015. We signed up for the installation of 12 panels at £6895.00. Had them installed in December 2015. Since then I have sent numerous emails and phone calls. Emails bounce back with an automated message. No returned calls. When we speak to customer services they assure that an engineer will call back ... NOTHING! Our solar panels move in the wind. Today Wednesday 03/02/2016 I have found this post on their website. We are now taking legal advice along with other families that have been sold this product and are not satisfied. Please be assured that this will not be the last of my postings. If I find more information I will post it in the future.

What a terrible shame ! Solar panels by proper solar installers are an excellent way to reduce bills. It's the middle man here that takes huge profits and leaves you to pick up the the pieces. I would say you have had a lucky escape at £6895. Another comment says they took £14k off someone for just 8 panels.

Hi, Just found this site and I am really angry and frustrated . We signed up for 12 panels at £10,000 in October 2014 and feel we have been missold this product also. I had phoned to complain about the output and someone came and checked and said everything was working fine and we should be getting a good return from the FIT payments and savings on the electicity bills but we still haven't noticed any savings We were told the system would pay for its self.and took out finance arranged by My Plane for 10 years assuming wrongly the £129 a month payments would be covered by the savings we would be making, this wasn't so. I have cleared this debt out of my savings as the interest rates were so high for the next 10 years. We will never recoup the £10,000 on so called savings over the prerdicted 25 years, I shall be 95 and my partner 99 yrs by then should we still be living! .. I do believe we were taken advantage of due to our age, ingorance as to how the solar panels work. given so many scribbled figures and after 2hours were convinces we were doing a good thing .not only for us but for the environment.!! but can we do anything now?

How did the legal action work out, I have myself taken a complaint further, only to be told it is a grey area in the law to prove because everything was done verbally. I am interested in the tactics they used to persuade you into getting the panels installed, what did they tell you because the more customers that come forward the better it is and did you use finance to pay for your panels, if so, who did you use? I feel betrayed by the number of endorsements this company had, which should of give potential customers, piece of mind but instead, lulled us into a false sense of security., only to find that we have been lied to and told anything, just to make a sale. It shouldn't be allowed by law, I have been left with a house that had numerous leaks because of this companies incompetence, time and time again, which have led to mould issues. I was told my system would make £89.00 at the minimum a month and taken away from my finance of £105.00, it would virtually pay for itself, all lies, the solar system would be lucky to see, three hundred pounds a year and yet I am paying £105.00 a month for the ten years. All this deception and they actually get away this and move onto another company, with a similar name, with all the same people employed and with the same address, although they are passing their address of at a company's house in Chelmsford. What a joke, they have tried, unsuccessfully to remove my review, showing a link between the two companies on two occasions but because I have proof showing a definite link, between them in the form of a email

We had My Planet intal solar panels in 201. Worst purchase ever. The slesman lied to us, refused to listen to me because I am a stroke survivor with speech problems and railroaded my husband into the sale. Total, total misselling as we are both i our 60's and plan to downsize next. No one over 60 or planning to move with 10 years dhould be sold panels. Despite complaints to Trading Standards and our MP nothing was done. Seems to the Holy Grail of climate change cannot be complained about.

Sorry I haven't replied to your comment earlier and I am disgusted how you were treated by My Planet, unfortunately they have no moral compass at all and were only interested in making money regardless of anything else. I know that you have complained to Trading Standards and your MP but have you tried putting a complaint in to Hies. The way you were ignored because of the affects of your stroke is diabolical and your husband being railroaded into the sale by the rep, the solar panels should have never been sold to you if you both didn't agree to the sale. It is worth getting in contact with them, just to see if they can do something in regards to your situation you were put in.

We have the same complaints as yourself, promised a return from salesman of £268.00 every 3 months. Had a loan from Tesco bank £97.00 per month over 10 years. This year our FIT Has produced just £250.00. They have now gone, aswell as the insurance company endorsed by Nick Ross from crimewatch. Interesting to know if he knows they are using him as a selling point. If you have any idea of what we could do which isn't going to cost us anymore money we would be interested in hearing from you.

I am really sorry for not replying sooner but didn't realise I had any comments left on my review. My original review is Total Nightmare on the top of this page, which gives more of an insight to what we have gone through with My Planet since having the installation in 2014. I have now been fighting this first with the company and then with the different organisations who endorsed them, I have put in complaints to all of them and apart from Hies offering to mediate between us, this was as far as they prepared to go, which went on until they ceased trading. In regards to the mis-selling of the panels, I know what I was told by My Planet and I know they were many others that were told that the FIT payments would cover the loan payments, they were even brought before the RECC in September 2014 for breaking the consumer code, this wasn't made public at the time that I had my panels fitted. I have been told that I can't prove the panels were mis-sold because they wasn't anything written down by them and this is classed has only verbal, there is no proof this was what we were told by them Hies said there was nothing further they could do. I ended up going to the Financial Ombudsman because I had used finance to pay for the panels and they advised me that I could put in a complaint through the Finance company which I have done, it has taken a year but the finance company has agreed to reduce the loan by 25% and in my case cover the costs of the damage caused by them. In regards to the insurance policy I have spoken to Hies today because I wanted to put a complaint in about all the companies who endorsed My Planet and continued to endorse them even though they were aware of how they were treating their customers and leaving a trail of devastation behind them. I was told I could put a complaint to Trading Standards, which I intend to do, he did mention that the guarantee would still cover if the equipment wasn't working, even though the insurance company had gone into liquidation. “Poor customers services never get back to you”

Hi Had our system installed early December absolute joke. Messed around for nearly a week . Lack of communication from the installation manager and the helpline. Damaged my electrics and made my roof leak. I was informed that I would be given a £100 for the hassle back verbally from him and the roof fixed asap, nothing happened. Had the roof fixed and have paid a bill for over £200 for damage to the lead work. Still waiting for somebody from the 0800 number to get back. Going to an ombudsman to get these issues sorted. I have rung and rung with nothing in return. Stay away from this company simply fob you off and hope you will go away

“MY Planet took us for a ride. ”

Had 16 panels fitted, fitting process fiasco that was the point when I should have changed my mind. first quarter pay out only £186 when they predicted more. Just told by British Gas my panels out put has dropped from 97% to 48%! Tried phoning My Planet, 0800 number has a repeating message of "Please wait for the next customer service advisor." Their Head Office number disconnects.

Had panels fitted in January, 2015. Very pleased. Fitted when they said they would, and they said would generate 3030kw of power for the year. Looks like we will be finishing on about the 3000 mark, so 99% is pretty damn good. Will take about 10 years to pay for themselves, but after that, will be quids in. Will add to value of property also, if ever sold. One of best decisions we've made.

“Dont be tricked by this company”

We had our solar panels installed in August 2013 by this company after a visit by their rep, who was extremely pushy and persuasive we had 16 panels fitted and was told if we signed up today then we would be able to qualify for a special deal,so we signed up and was charged around £9000 as he told us we would soon get that back on what we would save and from feed in tarrif to the supplier and was told that as we had paid this amount that when battery packs became available we would be retrospectively be fitted with one as part of the package. I read earlier on this year that these battery packs were now on the market.So I rang My Planet to see what was happening and when would we be fitted,only to be told that no we were not entitled to this under the original contract and if we wanted one fitted we would have to pay a few thousand pounds more. I am enraged at this as my partner and myself sat in our house when he told us this would be included,this man has not had the courtesy to get back to me to explain why he tells a blatant lie, and I am in the preparing to hand the details over to BBC Watchdog who have shown an interest in this company

The insurance company which My Planet suggested to us a few years ago has just gone into liquidation, so check yours out. We got cold feet about My Planet so thank fully we did not proceed. We thought their estimates were unrealistic.

“Losing everything”

I had my planet sweet talk me in to buying solar panels. Sold to me as self funding!!!! I'm having to sell my home of 14 years as I can't afford to live here anymore. Worst choice I've ever made. Recc have stepped in to help me get out of this situation. I've been waiting for 2 hours this morning for a representative from head office to visit me. NO SHOW, no surprise there. “my planet ”

I've had solar panels fitted via MY PLANET earlier this year apart from pressure sales that this company denies the figures would appear to be fabricated as the returns are no were near the sales pitch figures. Ghe sales rep said you would never pay for electronic again (these are solar panels and only work in day light) this is a company that wants your money and that's were it STOPS customer service ,complaints and managers just call you a lier and pass from one person to the other don't know what there doing. IT DOESN'T DO WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN my advise is do your research and go to a local company that you know!!!!!!!

Our system was commissioned on the 31st September 2014, myplanet estimated our 1st year benefit to be £480.87p in actual fact we have ended the year banking ourselves a total of just over £670. So far i am pleased... I would like to also point out myplanet have been extremely helpful with any queries or questions we have had over the last year. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable team of staff. I will keep you posted on further results

“Enough! STOP COLD CALLING ME PLEASE”

7 calls in 7 days despite the fact I have solar panels and each time they say they will cross me off their list. Even had the same person call back 5 minutes later. I have emailed HQ and phoned them so hope they don't call again. What a waste of my time and theirs...would you really trust a company to install panels if they can't even organise their call centre!?

“Thank Goodness I didn't believe the bad reviews”

In January 2015 I received a cold call from My Planet, I was thinking about solar panels so decided to allow them to visit. The next day their local man called to my home and conducted an assessment and provided me with some information and a price. Having researched the internet for prices and systems I found their price a little on the high side, but felt that the panels they were offering and the guarantees worth paying a bit more for, so decided to go ahead with the order. After completing all the paperwork i decided to go online and do some research, and was horrified at some of the reviews online, some talked of high pressure sales and foreign workers working from ladders, to say I was horrified was an understatement. I quickly picked up the phone to the local office in Cardiff and spoke to a very helpful person , she advised me that the local manager would call me back within the hour which he did. After speaking through everything, and understand quite how big My Planet has become I decided to continue with the order and put my trust in them. Thank goodness I did. In between all of this, my neighbour had some panels fitted by another company and had the most horrific experience, so to say I was even more nervous by the day of installation would be an understatement. Finally the big day arrived, the team, turned up at 8.15am, the scaffolders having turned up the day before, I couldn't have asked for a more helpful team, they explained how everything worked and set up my system and left the property clean and tidy - and I couldn't get over how quickly everything was done. A week or so later all my completion packs arrived, I called My Planet in Cardiff again and they sent the person I dealt with back to see me to help me complete my feed in tariff application, so far so good. One little niggle occured a few weeks down the line when i realised we hadn't received the LED lights which they included for free with the order, I picked up the phone to Cardiff again, and within a couple of days they were with me. I have to say I wouldn't usually bother reviewing a firm I am happy with, but due to some of the poor reviews I thought I would take the time to give my account of My Planet. Credit were credit is due, thank you to all at My Planet I have pleasure in recommending you!

“I have had my planet fitted 16 panels 3 years ago not...”

Had PV Solar fitted by my planet They have now done wrong twice first time all cables were exposed had vermin eat through the pv cables in 2014 it took 5 calls to get the company back the final time i contacted the barclays finance they got them back after 5 months phone calls. Yesterday 5th September 2015 my panels stoped working and blu the fuse board. again the pv panels are not working I rely on the pv to elp cut the cost on gas and electricty. I contacted the My Planet yesterday i was told somebody would call me back they did not so i called back so i called luch time saying i want compensation for the time the pv is off i was then put through to service department and was given next thursday 08.00and 10.00am hope they turn up as before they did not turn up. Ihave contacted Barclays Finance saturday 5th september they will make a fomal complaint to my planet. Shame about the repairs side of my planet

“bad bad bad”

this company are the worst I have ever dealt with. They charged us over the top for the panels and then promised to fit a monitor but left us in the dark when they never arrived to fit it and now we are just being ignored. Beware they will not follow up any promises. Other companies supply the monitor in the price and an I booster as well but we did not get either for nearly £9,000. we were told we could be compensated along with having the monitor fitted but as you can guess they never have arrived and ALL communication has been ignored. Even letters to the managing director are ignored. They should be reported for their disgusting service. All they are interested in is taking the money and nothing else. They even got that wrong and thought it was a joke. They have NO scruples!!!

it does NOT work as stated
BOTH salesmen were not clear on what was involved
the company is DIABOLICAL dont use them

I would say to contact RECC but would you believe they have allowed them to re open as Our Planet uk solar. So all the reviews you read here you will be reading again in a years time except it will say Our Planet have ripped us off and won't answer the phone rather than My Planet.

We have had our panels installed for just over a year. We wanted to wait to write our review as to give accurate judgement on the system. We are over the moon! We have saved and earnt more than expected! In fact nearly £300 extra! We couldn't be happier! Thanks guys!

This lot will tell you it's free - self funding - it's not they are lying! The finance they will arrange will cost you 10% APR which is a rip-off! These panels will take over 20 years to get all your money back if ever at all. Best to do lots of internet research and go with the best out of 3 or 4 quotes I wished I had as could have saved £4-5,000.

I think they went bust at the end of March. We were lucky to not get caught by them. Here is their address if it helps: 20 Fairways, New River Trading Estate, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, Dartford, Hertfordshire EN8 0NL There is a company in the same area that's sprung up called Our Planet. What a coincidence! Good luck but you may have to go elsewhere. You could try Squaredeal Solar in Rustington, West Sussex. Brilliant company and a fraction of the price of My Planet or Our Planet or whatever their name now.
