My glass exploded too during a pyrolclean and Siemens rejected to replace the glass as it was outside the warranty. Funnily enough when I asked they confirmed that they had not received any complaints about this occurring from customers!!!!

“Avoid pyroclean and Siemans ovens”

written by on 06/04/2012

I have the HB78AB.70B model. I must say Im seriously disappointed with this product. Its imposs to see food under the grill as the black painted glass at top of door is so thick it covers the top grill area so you cant see when stuff is cooked/brown. The pyroclean is a disaster....all it does is evaporate any built up grease inside the oven and, as theres no filter, blows it all round my kitchen settling on cupboards, paint and furniture. The whole room fills with choking smoke and grease particulates. Instead of cleaning an oven I have to clean the whole kitchen everytime I use pyroclean. This time the lights glass cover shattered. The area beyond the door seal doesn't get cleaned, the internal glass stains and the system doesnt allow you to leave the racking in place, so they still have to be cleaned manually. For an expensive oven this is poor design, AND if you have a problem even in-guarantee period they say they still charge you to send an engineer out.!!! Think again"

I have faced the same problem the glass of the Siemens oven has exploded during auto-cleaning. And Siemens has rejected to replace the oven or glass.

Just happened to me, luckily I was out of the room. Siemens should take responsibility, avoid like the plague.

“As per the previous review, I too experienced the...”

As per the previous review, I too experienced the exploding outer glass panel during a standard cleaning cycle with the Siemens HB750550B model. Exactly the same scenario. It was lucky that nobody was in the kitchen at the time or they would have been seriously burned by the red hot shower of glass fragments. As it it, my cupboards have been damaged (red-hot glass shards have melted the finish) - it could so easily have resulted in serious injury

I will never use the self-cleaning function again - it's potentially lethal!!

As for Siemens - Never again! Our other Siemens appliances have not stood up well to normal (family) daily use. poorly manufactured plastic knobs were the first items to show immediate wear. For the price we paid, we expected much better quality and longevity.

“16/10/09 ”

I had 2 siemens HB750550B pyroklean ovens installed in my new kitchen 10months ago, I set one to clean on the 7th Oct 2009, and 15 mins into its cleaning I heard a huge bang and went to the kitchen to find my oven door had exploded and shattered outwards accross my kitchen. I was terrified, as was my 6 year old daughter, the intense heat of the cleaning cycle was still in operation, I quickly switched the main power to the ovens off. I phoned siemens to report the incident to a very non enthused member of staff who said it will be 3 days before an engineer will be there to inpect the work. (asked how can this happen , has it happened before, yes but very seldom and unusual) Not entirely happy with the response time and finding it very difficult to stop large shards of glass dropping from what was left of the oven door (damaging my new walnut wood floor)I did phone back to try to get the engineer sooner.(no luck)I had to be available between 9-5 on Friday 10th, (no appointments available or even am/pm...not great I work full time). The engineer phoned on the Fri 10th 9am ..the oven door to replace mine had arrived to him broken and they had run out of stock...(is this something that happens frequently?...no he replied....shall I put my other identical oven to clean and see if it too shatters?....no the chances of this happening again very unlikely.....I wonder why they have run out of stock). Thur 15th Oct siemens phoned to say they have the door, it will be Tues the 20th before they can get an engineer to me, they have staff off just now and cannot fix the door sooner.....What will Tues the 20th bring, I have been nearly 2 weeks without an oven...and siemens are fairly laid back about all of this. I really fear using this pyroklean function in the future, but that is the main reason I bought this style of oven so why shouldn't I?.....and will they repair the doors in the future if it happens again?
