“POOR SERVICE”

★★★☆☆

written by on 03/07/2022

I have owned the garage now for several years and it is just OK. The swing over door does not close properly and the rain comes in down both sides at the base. The garage installers did a poor job and Mr Hanson was good enough to visit me and survey the work done. He was very professional and a pleasure to deal with. He found many problems and took many photographs. The installing team were returned to my home and the job completed properly. The garage is excellent quality and worth every penny, the product only being let down by the quality of the installers. BEWARE! If you have to recall the installers. On arriving at my address they asked ONLY for THREE MUGS OF TEA. When they departed I collected the mugs. Each one was perfectly cracked without a chip or a scratch and were now useless! It would have been better had they been broken then it would have looked more like an accident!

Quality of the product is good and the garage was erected in the timescales set. The reason not a 5 was because the administrator who I dealt with requires email etiquette training and the team who put the garage up (Team3) were a little bit abrupt.

“Garage Roof substandard”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bigfoot36 on 07/12/2021

Back door to garage leaked which I purchased sealant and fixed . They sent someone round to look after 4 weeks of contacting them about the problem, however, forgot to notify they were coming. More seriously some 9 phones calls to report the roof rainy in, to be informed that they would be closing for Xmas and could not give me date for repair, by the rudest customer service manager I have ever encountered!!!. On speaking to their agent, he managed to arrange for the installations manager to visit and take a look the following week. He came and was shocked to see how much water had leaked into the building, he proceeded to seal all joints inside and out. I was then told that it would still leak until it had time to dry out which could take around 6-12 months so next year would be fine. I told this was not acceptable and he needed to contact the roof supplier to explain the materials used were unsatisfactory!!, Which he told me they would not do anything. I also asked if Hanson were going to cover the costs for all the damages, again the answer was no. 10 year guarantee means nothing with substandard materials. This is still ongoing with no resolve!!!DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY, YOUR ASKING FOR TROUBLE.

“Roof leaks, awful customer service to resolve”

★☆☆☆☆

written by PLocke on 12/04/2021

Think very carefully before you buy one of their concrete garages with a Cembrit corrugated roof! Not fit for purpose and absolutely disgusting after sales support. Initially I was extremely pleased with the service - design, supply and build were excellent. work was completed just before lockdown 2020. During the winter of 2020/2021 I noticed that during periods of heavy rain, the roof leaks, to the point where it is necessary to cover my motorcycles and camper van with tarpaulins. Eventually Hanson arranged for a representative from Cembrit, the roof manufacturer, to attend. The representative who attended agreed that there was a problem, however shortly afterwards I received an email from Cembrit via Hanson. The email stated: "The fibre cement sheets are a breathing roof and at this stage I can only conclude that it is the sheer volume of water which they have absorbed externally coupled with the warmer air from in side which is causing the sheets to become heavy with moisture. This would be similar to the wetness which appears on the breather membrane in a loft at this time of year, except in this case it is straight on the sheets. I notice that the eaves are blocked in and this will prevent any air circulation within the building so if the garage cannot be left open at any time to allow natural airflow to circulate it may be advisable to remove some or all of the eaves fillers to see if this remedies or reduces the moisture." I have queried this for several reasons: 1) There is no significant temperature differential between inside and outside as the garage is not heated. 2) If the problem was related to condensation, it would not occur only during periods of heavy rain as it does, but during cold periods. 3) Hanson recommend the use of eaves fillers. If they know this causes a problem, why do they continue to recommend them and charge extra for them? 4) The implication from Cembrit is that this will occur whenever we experience prolonged periods of heavy rain - this is the UK, we expect prolonged periods of heavy rain therefore the roof is not fit for purpose. 5) Surely a roof which "breathes" from both inside and out is not "breathable" but "porous". This garage supposedly has a 10 year guarantee. Not only are Hanson or Cembrit refusing to rectify the problem, but they also now refuse to answer any email that I send. From my initial good impressions of the company I would now not recommend a Hanson garage to anyone as the after sales support is useless and it appears that the 10 year guarantee is meaningless.

“Supply and installation of Garage professionally done.”

★★★★★

written by Philsydney on 29/09/2020

Sectional concrete garage with two windows and up-and-over door supplied and erected by Hanson garages. Ordering process was simple and intuitive due to the quality and information contained in the brochure and additional paperwork. I contacted Hanson on two occasions with questions regarding the design and received a polite and knowledgeable response each time. Garage was supplied on time and the installation team worked hard to erect it quickly and efficiently. Upon completion they took time to explain door operation and maintenance, removed all rubbish and left the site in a clean and tidy condition. I am very happy with the overall appearance and integrity of the garage. The doors appear to be secure and the felt roof lining does a good job of preventing condensation from dripping onto contents and floor. Overall, I feel that the company works hard to achieve customer satisfaction and, in my opinion, the service, value for money and quality of the product and work done is of a high standard.

“Very Satisfied Customer”

We had a garage errected during hot year of 2018. Perhaps it was because of the heat (or a bad batch of adhesive/) Whatever the reason was, the adhesive began to drip away. The men came back quite quickly and resolved the situation (good aFTERCARE) The garage looks impressive with a wooden drop down door with brick inserts down each side. Overall we are very satisfied and would recommend Hanson Garages.

“Untrustworthy”

Bought one of their buildings (cost about Ā£9000). Friendly and helpful until they have your money, then rude. Lousy quality product, incomplete and not as advertised. I felt sorry for the installers who tried their best. I recommend you buy elsewhere or just burn your money.

“Concrete Garage Installation”

★★★★★

written by khiccup on 25/11/2019

I chose Hanson Garages for the great value for money they provide. The staff were very courteous and helpful throughout the entire process. I would without doubt recommend Hanson Garages to anyone wishing to have a new garage erected without the great expense. The installation team were so friendly, quick and passed on the information I needed. The speed it took to erect the garage took me by surprise, in less than 2 hours I had a new garage of which I must say impressed me and I look at it every day knowing i made the right choice in Hanson Garages. I looked at having a garage attached to my house but the cost would not have been justified in comparison Hanson provided the garage at a tenth of the cost. Thank you so much for a nice shiny garage.

“NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER! ”

★★★☆☆

written by deblloyd2019 on 27/09/2019

Very mixed views on this company... i ordered my very small garage 11th june through an agent, the agent was pleasant enough when he visited the house to measure up but that ends there... The agent mis - measured so consequently when the guy came to build the base he had to notify hanson who then had to re-order the garage (july), there was no room for the small window that i had paid for, the rear door has been moved to centre when it should be to the side. (made sure i got a refund for the window) then the up & over door had to be "special order" because it was a smaller door... Costing me an additional Ā£400.... the base went down, then had to wait for the garage to be built, the garage was built but had no door... I was told the garage door would be fitted wk com 02nd september, i rang on 02nd to find out what day the installation would be to find out that the up & over "special order" door had never been ordered! The guy has gone on holiday... New date for fitting the garage door 26th september... Omg i'm pretty chuffed off now, delay the electrician, all the stuff from what was my shed / going into the garage is all over the conservatory, all round the garden (living a storage nightmare) the girl in the office (very nice) sent a hamper in way of an apology... Thank you! But by now i really just want to get the garage completed... so now i have waited the extra 3 weeks to get the door fitted... Sure enough the fitters rang & arranged to fit the door on the 26th... Great news ---- no the garage door is p.. Sing in water all around it... The timber frame to concrete panels have not been sealed there is no weather seal on the bottom of the garage door! i rang & spoke to a person, he now tells me that the weather seal is an additional item... For gods sake i ordered a garage that i would be able to use.... (same person that didn't order the door?) now i have to take photo's & send them in so that they can assess to see if they should send somebody out!!!!! hanson garages... My husband will now finish this job off!!!! We are really fed up & disappointed with your company... i am sure when we can weather seal the garage & i can start using it i will be happy with it... But the whole project has proven a sorry state... it's the smallest of garages but the biggest of issues i could ever have imagined from start to finish... i deal with customers on a daily basis.... I know about customer service etc.... i will not be recommending this company!

“Just the job”

The agent, Booths Garden Centre were extremely helpful from initial enquiry to the assembling of the garage. Hanson's office staff were also very helpful, friendly and their paper work was easy to follow and complete. The installation team were efficient and left the site in a clean and tidy state. The garage was everything we hoped it would be and we would certainly recommend Hansons Garages again. In fact we have ordered another one from them.

“Don't buy a garage from this company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by nickbrowne on 13/05/2019

I don't know how this company can advertise they have have product or customer satisfaction as I am disgusted with both. The workman ship is shoddy and if you try to complain, well what an awful attitude and they won't accept any responsibility. I have never dealt with such an awful company. A builder installed the garage for my elderly mother The garage leaks, there is a chunk missing from the wall behind the gutter, there are not enough screws in the roof to keep it on in the strong winds and the drains on the top aren't cut in line with the drains going down the wall so they get blocked. I was told they has no obligation to speak to me and I couldn't complain a year down the line even through it has a two year guarantee. This shoddy work has been found over the year period and each time the builders concerns have been ignored, they even tried to blame us. They have told me that they will not do anything about my complaint. I just don;t want anybody else to be in this position please don't go near them.

“Amazed they get positive reviews”

★★☆☆☆

written by sweavo on 08/11/2018

Positive: The quality of manufacture of the parts seems good. I expect what I have ended up with will last and serve well. The fitting team seemed competent and put up the garage plumb and (almost) square. Not Positive: Summary: * York Agent does not listen, needed several go-arounds with the order. * Head office uncommunicative and poorly managed. * Fitters a bit of a lottery. * Weeks to get to the point of having ordered the right thing. * The build took a month to complete. * Garage is not square and central. * Front door too highly spring and dangerous to operate. The agent was York Timber Products. I chose them because I wanted my garage to match that of my neighbor (they sit side-by-side on a shared drive). So it was to be a particular model with a black vertical front door, and personnel door and opening window in the right hand side. The agent basically didn't listen, it was a lot of work just to tell him what I wanted in between the sales bluster trying to persuade me that I didn't want a lidgett. When I gave the go-ahead, I eventually got paperwork back from head office that had a white door, no opening window, and the personnel door and window on the wrong side. It was the right model of garage though. I called the agent (who had my 20% deposit) to correct the order, and he did not want to take ownership of the issue. He said I should talk to head office. I called head office, who said I should talk to the agent. I talked to the agent, who said I should just update the paperwork I'd been sent and send it back. I called head office and explained what the agent had said and that I was starting to worry that lines would get crossed. I explained which parts were specified wrong and would it be OK if they send me a blank plan for me to draw the door and window on? I received an amended order with the door and window already drawn on, still not in the place I wanted them. I amended the order in red biro, and sent a scan back again. Once my neighbors' garage was finished, they pointed out a list of mistakes by the fitting team: the garage was far from central or square on the pad, and their opening window was perhaps 5 degrees out of plumb. Some of their trim was not straight and their front door snagged. Disclosure: their garage base may not have been adequate. So I called head office and asked whether they knew who my fitters would be because I didn't want the same team. They were actually quite good on this call, appeared interested to know more about the bad service my neighbor received. As the delivery date arrived, I got a call to confirm and ask for the remainder of the money. The fitters showed on the right day, and erected the garage in about a half-day on site. They didn't have the right front door because mine had not arrived. They had known about this issue for a week and not mentioned it to me. They temporarily fitted a spare door and left off the door trim surrounds. They were unable to fit the window in the position I'd drawn them because they were missing a part to put the roof joist over the window. They didn't stop and tell me that, just went ahead and committed the build to putting the window and door in the wrong places. They had known about this issue for about 3 weeks. The fitters left me to sweep up their mess, but I'm glad they did, because I discovered the key to the locking side window in amongst the rubbish. My wife was unimpressed by a stream of hilarious "jokes" from one of the fitters about making him bacon sandwiches and cups of tea. I had to follow up to get a date for fitting of the correct door. When it came, they didn't have the side trims, so another visit was needed. I got a call arranging their final visit to fit the trims, then they came several days early. This was not really an issue because this job didn't need us to be present. The end result is a garage that is technically not square but it's not bad enough to be an annoyance. What is an annoyance however is that the front door is very volatile. When you open it it springs all the way open, bounces of its stops, then a few seconds later swings down below head height. So I still have one final job of making the door less dangerous before I'm really done getting this fitted.

“Total waste of money !”

written by IBannister on 17/10/2018

Once this company takes payment in full they don't care what's happening after. I got a garage in warranty, with a gap between the concrete blocks and roof, the garage is always full of rubbish when the wind blows. The whole fascia is rotten and looks a mess is only a matter of time when water will be running into the garage. I am still waiting for maintenance to turn .....If they ever do. Costumer service is not existing... Best was to save up and have a proper garage build, not that RUBBISH !

The owner of this company has no quality or customer service they put a garage up in my property that was not corect on the block then moved it after complainung next day with crow bars damaged the panels and left a crack in the front brick pillar and the owner came to look at the garage after the best of the best had tried rectify the mess they had left he yhe argued with my wife and with me through numerous emails he refused to di anything i then contacted his customer services who egnoleged we had a poor quality garage after sending over 20 images she the said she would call me back with a date to replace damaged and poor quality panels then the owner called me to say they would not be doing any of this under the warranty by the way garage had only bee errected a few days then i argued with him again then he wanted to send me to a garden centre to see some more of his garages to compare hiw poor customer service us that if I had read more reviews I would of never used this sham of a company they give a ten year guarantee on the stucture but its not worth the paper its write in this company needs incestigating and closed down to save anyone else being treated like this the owners excuse for cracks in concrete is air in it when moulded not that they trued to move the garage with crow bars and put due stess on the panels and caused them to crack I have more big chip and gaps in most of the panels everyone that seen this says it shocking even builders laugh at it it just mater of time before I will be arguing with the owner again
