carloscuny's review of Yamaha Cygnus X

“Little dependable friend”

★★★★☆

written by carloscuny on 06/05/2013

Good bike, overall good quality. My 2005 model is an old type carb w/o digital meters etc. Functional the same as more modern type.
The bike feels small for a 1.85 m large man. The fueltank is half a am used to with my YBR 125. That's bad. Room is enough under the buddy but holds no systemhelmet. A big top holds everything, an rearcarier and all other accesoires are easy to find.
Handling does not feel good. It feels every groove. Cornering to is so-so. Maybe a good fronttire and service will improve things.
Motor is good, fast acceleration but top is 95 then stops....
Fuel ecomomy is aroud 1l/35Km not exceptional, poor tank only 7 liters damn!

But dependability is great only changed oil once and a new reartire. Nothing else... Just driving. Great in citytrafic, fast outruns almost anything. Small size puts me always upfront...

Maybe I should do some servicing like valve adjust and carb :)
For the price 500 euro and around 14000Km Great Great scoot.

Yamaha knows how to make'm

Just have the latest type called CygnusX with fuel injection and digital meters with tripmeter, clock and oilchange indicator.
The old, 2013 review still holds.
It still does around 100-105 KPH and 3L/100, not exceptional just good for a 4 valve aircooled engine.
Headlight is very good extremely well with special motorcycle lamp from Osram or Philips
It is my second Cygnus since 2013 and used many other types like Honda Visions 110 , Kymco 125 and 200, UH 200 Suzuki Burgman etc.
The Yam is a topquality product for 24/7 EVERY DAY all seasons basic transport. It holds itself on the highway , I rode long trips without any problem.
It is my primary form of peronal transport in city and rural area with weekend trips over the highway 100-400Km.
Range is at 250Km, acceptable, always have small can with 1litre for emergency1
