“Dishonest at best”

I contacted the man and van company for a removal. When they quoted me and sent me a Paypal link for payment I was quite surprised that it was for the entire £299 so I did not pay at that moment as I had booked the service 4 days in advance. A few hours later the Paypal link said that it had been ‘cancelled’. Concerned that I would not have a removal van for my move,when they sent the link again I paid immediately even though I was not sure that I would need it, as I checked out their terms and conditions which states ‘refund within 10 working days.’ 4 hours later I cancelled the job as I did not infact need the service. I asked if they could please refund me before the weekend and received an email confirming that they would ‘try’. 3 weeks and many phone calls and emails later, I have not received a refund. On the 10th day, and despite being told that my refund was coming, it did not appear so I opened a Paypal dispute. When I called the company they said that they were about to make a refund but because of the Paypal dispute it would take much longer. This is a blatant lie. I have a small business and use PayPal a lot as a payment method. All they have to do is refund me as they should do by obligation. I am angry and very very upset by the worry and frustration they are causing me. They are a dishonest outfit and I would strongly advise against using them. I only wish that I had read the previous review before paying them.

“Awful customer service ”

I was told my refund would be processed within 10 working days, 6-7 weeks later I’ve still had no response and every time I call, they say a manager hasn’t been in to process this further. As well as calling, I have emailed and written on Facebook but no response there either. The company were very responsive to get my business but when it comes to customer service, they are unable to write an email or pick up the phone. I’d advise not to use!

Hi, i haven’t received a refund either. That’s £300 which they took very fast (even telling me that the Paypal link would expire if I didn’t pay quickly.) I have also called and emailed and am told every time that the refund is about to be made. It is a complete lie. I am so upset. How can a company be so immoral? I have launched a Paypal dispute and if I haven’t received a refund still, I will take further action. If you are reading this review it means that I have still not received a refund. I would strongly advise against using this company.

“Poor communication and terrible management”

Despite the nice website and online forms that should make things easy, themanandvancompany company is poorly managed and has a total disregard for their customers. I was trying to arrange a van several days in advance via their online booking system. Got a quote on Friday, then sent an email on Saturday that I want to make a booking. No answer. I drop them a call same day, they say "sorry, we can see your details, we'll book you now and send an email with info on how to make a deposit" (yes, they want you to pay deposit/full amount in advance, no cash payments). No email received on Saturday. On Sunday I call again to check whether they have booked me. Apparently, they haven't, I am promissed that it will be sorted out within an hour and I'll get an email. OK, I receive an email asking for my address, etc and immediately send an answer. No response afterwards. I try to call them - they are closed, but claim that they can be contacted via email. I send another email asking for confirmation that booking was made. No answer. Then, finally on Monday morning, when I am supposed to move out I receive an email that the booking could not be made because I haven't provided my full address (gave post codes instead) I haven't paid the deposit (for which I have not been given bank details). In each email and phone call I was communicating with a different person, each of which seemed to be half asleep and not willing to help. Based on my experience I can only assume that they either have a terrible management system, if any, or they were deliberately not willing to book me. Since the first email they have had my phone number and email, however, not a single time I have been contacted from their side to sort things out. Instead, for each email I have sent I had to call to make sure that something was happening on their end. It's trully ridiculous that you have to go through such lengths to book a van. Booking plane tickets is 10x easier than dealing with themanandvancompany. Happy ending to my story - after receiving the last email I called the first guy I saw on gumtree and got it sorted out in 2 minuted with van available in 2 hours.

“Removal carried out as promised”

An efficient removal service. Telephoned to say they would be ten minutes late so I wasn't worrying. Worked hard on a very hot day in London !packed the Luton van like a "jigsaw" as I had been told they would do. Didn't take a break and did the move in the time allocated. Good service would recommend.

“Amazing Service”

I needed to find a company that was reasonably priced and after searching the internet took a chance on "The Man and Van Company". I was extremely impressed. The driver arrived exactly on time, between a friend, the driver and myself, we managed to dismantle a double bed, load the van with my possessions, drive to my new residence, unload the van and assemble my bed again - all in under 2 hours. The driver was extremely polite and helpful. I'm very impressed and would recommend this company to anyone who needs good service at a very reasonable price. I can't thank them enough for making my move so stress free.

The Man and Van Company did a great job moving mine and my fiancé's belongings - furniture, books, crockery, glassware, kitchen appliances, the lot(!) from our 2bd floor flat into self storage on 11 Jan. The 2 men moved the lot into their Luton van and then into storage at the other end in less than 3 hours, nicely stored with no breakages! I would certainly use them again when we move back into our renovated flat in a few weeks' time.

“Reliable and helpful”

I found a review site of this company where the owner, points out that there are plenty of bad reviews of her company on the web even though they've got plenty of happy customers. Since it's so tricky to find a reputable company as few of them have an actual physical shop, which makes it difficult for you to lodge complaints, I thought however good or bad a job they'd do, I'd review them, for sake of people like me struggling to make the right choice. To start with, I told them that due to my situation, I'd have to wait a couple of days before being able to pay, which you have to do before they do the job.n No problem, they said. On the day itself, I was informed 10 minutes before the scheduled time that the customer before me was taking more time than expected, and as a result the driver would be late by up to an hour. He turned up 30 mins after the initially scheduled time, and once we arrived at my new place, even though I'd paid for basic service, being just driver and van, he was helpful enough to help me with the unloading, which went by in a breeze as a result. They didn't ask to charge me more even though the service was basically upgraded. Because of the lateness, I can't give a 5-star rating, but I couldn't possibly fault them on anything else. I will definitely go to them for my next move, without considering any competitors. Many thanks!

I have no complaints about the service I received from this company from start to finish. The booking process was friendly and efficient with good advice on what I would need in terms of van size and how long, taking into consideration my circumstances. On the day of the move, they did arrive 30mins late due to the traffic - apologies over they got to it and we were loaded and on our way in 45 minutes. At the other end they unloaded all my belongings safely and in tact and even offered to put together my kitchen table for me as it was very heavy and difficult to assemble. Friendly, pleasant, helpful and a stress free move - what more do you need!

“GREAT VALUE SERVICE”

I just wanted to pass on my thanks to the driver who worked really hard to load the van quickly so that I didn't have to pay for any extra time. He was really cheerful too, despite the stairs! I had a 15 minute delay (which was understandable on a busy Saturday), but I was kept well informed by the call centre. It was really easy to book too. I'd definitely use them again and would recommend.

“Why you shouldn't hire "London's finest man and van...”

Ever since moving to London, I have used yer classic Man & Van to move myself from one rental to the next. By Yer Classic Man & Van, I'm talking here about blokes (99.99% blokes) who ape adverts to telephone poles and newsagent windows offering their services. No-nonsense geezers. But my girlfriend, she's classy. She wanted someone a bit more professional, maybe a "family run business" established in 1996, who pride themselves on being an outfit you can trust. Not just one bloke and his van, but indeed a whole COMPANY: that's right The Man and Van Company. You pay for them being a company and all. You pay for the brand-name and online booking form, and email confirmations. But it's worth it, because you're going to get a service you can trust, yeah? A cut-above a geezer and his 2003 Ford Transit with "Clean Me" fingered into the dust on the side-doors. WRONG! When a geezer has a breakdown on his way to pick you up, he phones you immediately and apologises. But The Man and Van Company waits until you've taken all your worldly goods out onto the pavement and put the keys through the letterbox (i.e. 1/2 hour AFTER the time arranged) to NOT phone you at all. And when you do phone them, The Man and Van Company tells you that they don't know WHERE their man and van are, and don't really seem to care either. Maybe because as you find out later they're more M&V pimp than M&V purveyor, outsourcing jobs to anyone who will do them and creaming a good part of the fee. They don't actually care about you and your worldly goods, they just want their cut of the action. So you continue to phone, all your worldly goods out on the pavement, and the keys returned to the landlord who has come round to check that all the surfaces were cleaned when you moved out. And maybe 45 minute later The Man and Van Company inform you that your man and his van has had a breakdown. Now what would a geezer do? I'll tell you. He'll phone his mate and say: "Listen, I've had a breakdown, but I've got these this couple, all their worldly goods on the pavement, and I feel sorry for them, go and do the job would-ja." What, you may ask do THe Man and Van Company do when faced with a similar dilemma. Well, like any true professionals, who you can trust, "London's finest man and van service" they shrug their shoulders and say: "Sorry." and then in response to your yelps of vulnerability. "Bye". And when, a couple of days later, you phone The Man and Van Company, all your emails ignored, unrefunded, to tell them that their technical fault caused hours of distress and a hefty fee to be paid to another company for stepping in at the last minute, on a Sunday afternoon to remove all your worldly goods, what do they say? [I kid you not, this from the manager of The Man and Van Company : "Why are you making such a fuss? A man and a van didn't arrive to take your stuff, it's not like we're talking about bombings in Gaza here are we?" Empathetic customer service at its finest.
