“EXTREMLY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BADASSREVIEWER on 05/06/2015

I sent my CV to spring personnel (hanley-stoke branch) and spoke to one of the snobby consultants who immediately had a very rude and abrupt manner towards me. After asking why i wanted to leave my current job, I explained the whole jargon; I wanted to better myself, progress my skills. i got a very abrupt response as though this was a stupid reason?? before laying into me about the fact that i had a degree on my cv; I asked if i could register. She said she didn't have any time to see me. I never heard from them again. I am so taken back by their rudeness! What a vile vile vile company!

“Employers - Avoid this inefficient and dishonest company!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Krause459 on 26/09/2014

As the other reviews here state, this organisation is wholly imcompetent and shambolic. They have no system in place for anything and I would need a very long essay just to list the endless incompetencies, errors, misinformations and miscommunications committed by them. Moreover they have now proved to be extremely dishonest. We had an agreement with them in writing that their fee would only be owing if the candidate lasted more than 6 weeks. Unfortunately it did not go as we had hoped and he lasted less than this period. Since then they have come up with every excuse in the world not to issue us with a credit note for the £20,000 on their invoice: 1. we will issue it but credit notes take a long time 2. we talked with the candidate and he worked longer than 6 weeks (a complete lie - they didn't talk with him and finally the candidate sent them an email giving his dates which in any case we had on our payroll system) 3. we will give you a credit note when you employ someone new from us 4. we don't intend to give you a credit note as it's against our T&C (despite having two emails from them confirming they would work with us on the <6 weeks, no fee basis). If you have any friends, or know any other companies, needing to recruit, pass on this information. This company needs to be put out of business soonest!

“This is not a recruitment agency ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 319Silva on 29/08/2014

Like I said in the title, this is not a recruitment agency, it is a bad joke. In my contract it was stipulated that I get my payment every week. After a short part time job, I was paid 320 pounds after a month! You finish your job now, you’ll get paid after a month. Very nice! I didn’t get my P45 or my payslip, nothing. My honest advice would be to avoid them.

“Incompetent, disorganized and shambolic.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by efBird54 on 11/06/2014

After being hired by a well known museum through Spring Personnel, what seemed to be a fantastic job opportunity soon turned into a complete headache. Spring decided that, because of the bank holiday Monday earlier in the week, that none of the temporary half-term staff would be getting paid, because apparently the payments are processed on the Monday, to be paid on the Friday - Regardless of incoming direct debits and monetary commitments of those waiting for their money. Even a day late would have been better than not at all! On top of that, I now find myself sitting around waiting to be paid, because even a week later my payment was not processed. Apparently a mistake on my bank details section of the application forms meant my payment was rejected - But surely those details had to have been processed into a computer by a human being? Why was I not contacted? The past few weeks have been hampered by lacking even basic funds to get on public transport to work, frustrating phonecalls to an unhelpful payroll department, and a very bitter taste in my mouth. DO NOT use this company!

“Utterly incompetant bunch!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 24/05/2014

Over 3 days, I was contacted twice, regarding supposed temporary jobs about which I had been pestering them constantly since I gave them my CV two months ago. Well, I was overjoyed and immediately reacted positively when asked about the job first time although it meant I was going to take the tube and then change two buses every morning! The next day I got a message saying the employer had not got back to them although they had tried many times, so not to disappoint me, they had found me another employer. Fair enough, I appreciated their gesture. The girl at S.P. said she was going to let me know as soon as this, second, employer replied but that I was supposed to start the next day at 2pm! Well, being outside when she called, I rushed to get some office clothes to change as I didn't have enough, having been unemployed for a while now. I phoned her with my concern that i would like to have the details as soon as possible so I could plan my route (this one was straightforward, centre of London). The next day, they had me waiting by the phone all morning, and between emails and phone calls, had not told me clearly if I was employed for sure or not till TWO HOURS BEFORE I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE! I decided to have a quick shower and start getting ready just in case. As soon as I came out of the shower, I got a call from Spring, apologizing and saying the employer had withdrawn the position! . It makes me wonder. Why do they notify us that they have a position when they are not sure and heaven knows why the first one, two days before did not materialize! I am really disappointed with their conduct.

“Utterly incompetent and useless bunch. Having signed...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/04/2014

Utterly incompetent and useless bunch. Having signed up with Spring Personnel I was quickly sent for a job interview. So far so good. However, when I arrived for my interview, I found out that Spring Personnel had given me the wrong information and the university was actually expecting me to start that day . I had to spend a very awkward 15 minutes explaining to the university’s HR department that , as I was expecting to take part in a 30 minutes interview only, I had other appointments booked for that day therefore I could not stay. Luckily they were very understanding and we agreed that, in this case, my official first day would commence the following morning. After this first mix-up Spring Personnel managed to enrol me into a Student Loan repayment , even though I told them I did not have one and they also had my P45 to confirm this. As a result, I had 2 lots of student loan repayments deducted from my wages, for a loan I have never had. When I brought up the issue with Spring Personnel they told me straight away it must have happened because I gave them the wrong information. So I sent them a copy of my Starter Declaration , clearly showing that I ticked the NO STUDENT LOAN box, but they just shrugged their shoulders and told me to sort the issue with HMRC directly. HMRC was quick to update their records and to instruct Spring Personnel to refund me. I asked Spring Personnel when the refund was expected to reach my account, and was told that HMRC would be refunding me and not them. I had to call HMRC again so that HMRC could then instructed Spring Personnel to refund me- once again! After that, Spring Personnel said my refund would be with me in a week. Of course it never happened, and when I contacted Spring Personnel I was told they had already refunded my money to HMRC (??!!??) and that I needed to contact them directly. I called HMRC - again - and was told that Spring Personnel made a mistake as they were clearly instructed to send me the refund. Now, because of this mistake, I have to wait until my P60 arrives(a 6 weeks wait) , then I need to send a letter to HMRC directly to request my refund. What I found really appalling was not that Spring Personnel made mistakes after mistakes but the fact that no one at their offices had the backbone to apologise at least just once. Absolute waste of space. There are plenty of other agencies out there , DO NOT use these people!

“Clients DON'T use SPRING”

I run a medium size firm and have been looking to recruitment. Spring was the second company I contacted and have had a few talks about what they do and what I needed. It seems like they will do anything for money.

“Complete and uter sham...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/11/2013

Started with a telephone contact with consultant who wanted to rush me down to the office the next day for interview. They operate in a tiny office and are as far from professional as you can get. I was handed a form covering all details covered on my CV (references, education etc.) and asked for my bank account and NI number (I assume this is all they wanted as she relayed the message that the most important info was this..FACE PALM) from that moment I felt uneasy about the process. I never less reluctantly persevered whilst the room filled up with what job seekers and I'm guessing EU law would give cattle more space (literally 15 people in an office that accommodates 3 desks...DOUBLE FACE PALM). Soooo... as one of the first arrivals I finished the mundane task of giving away personal details first (of course I changed bank and NI info so both had a wrong digit). I'm waiting, 3 ladies frantically answering calls trying to run this 2 bit operation and they have the audacity to whisper about candidates which is extremely unprofessional. 5 minutes and I'm getting ready to just about make a hasty exit and I notice the contract small print. Now for one, the printout was so poor you could not see all the words so I hope its invalid...buuut...the alarming thing I noticed was as follows... THE COMPNAY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO AT ANY TIME DEDUCT ANY AMOUNT FROM YOUR WAGES (of course you must get minimum wage though). NEED I SAY MORE? STAY AWAY!!! Use reed or graduate bureau. /rant end.

“Total waste of time”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 11/01/2013

I had a similar experience with Spring. I was looking for temp work and they called me up saying they would have plenty of work for me if I came in to register. Once I got there, they had no record of my appointment but luckily I had a copy of their confirmation email with me. I kept in touch regularly by phone and email to confirm I was available for work, but they were always to busy to speak and no-one ever returned an email. Out of the blue they rang me up nearly 3 months later to say would I like a permanent role. They read a job spec over the phone and I said this sounded OK. The next day they said I had an interview at a well known company. I went to the interview at this company, having done all my research and preparation (no help from Spring by the way). It turned out Spring had given me the job spec for completely the wrong job so in the interview I was right up **** creek. They then said you always go to a job interview at your own risk! What a cheek. They are a shambles. Avoid.

“They couldn't care less”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Grullio68 on 08/01/2013

I was left really disappointed by my experience with this company. They had been mentioned by a friend as being OK for temp work, so I went to my initial meeting at Spring with high hopes. In the interview process, went over my CV and established the type of work I would like, a fairly easy and quick process. I wasn't interviewed by the person I had previously spoken to on the phone, as promised, and I did think the consultants were a little offhand, but I was still generally optimistic about what Spring could do for me. I was practically guaranteed work within a week, and regular calls and emails to keep me updated. None of this materialised. All the further contact I had with Spring was initiated by myself, with many of my calls and emails going unanswered. The company has a bizarre habit of sharing phones and email accounts, because it was practically impossible to speak with the same person consistently, even when you specifically asked for them. Needless to say, no work has been offered either, despite the promises that were made at my interview. In summary, I wouldn't bother. A complete lack of professionalism, and most significantly, you simply can't rely on them to find you any work.

“Awful, awful, AWFUL!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 28/11/2012

What a service, or should i say total lack of it. At first they seemed eager to get me into work, after all, it is in thier best interests to do so for everyone involved to make money right? They got me in for registration interview, told me i should have lots of interviews very soon due to my skill set, however something didnt ring true with me, at this stage it was only a gut feeling so an entirely personal thing, they just didnt seem very professional. Went for a job interview very quickly, felt it went well. then the problems, called for feedback, the person i needed wasnt in the office. The person i spoke to said they would call the client and call me back. No call. I called again, they said they had tried to call the client but only got answer machine. they would try again and call me back. No call. this pattern went on for a full week and so on and so forth. In a nutshell, dont bother with them unless they have a job you are really dying to get into. I've worked with many agencies in my time and Spring are BY FAR the worst ive had the 'pleasure' of dealing with.

I was completely stitched up by this company. They sent me on an interview and gave me plenty of information about the firm and job description etc before I went. But --- it all turned out to be a different job and not even for the same firm. I didn't get the job and the interviewer said it was because I hadn't prepared properly!!! Dohh!!

Complete waste of space. When I spoke to my consultant about this she didn't want to know and said you go to a job interview at your own risk.

“The worst I ever come across( worse than the most...”

written by on 04/07/2012

Anybody who work for Spring have to keep all the timesheets, payslips, emails and other evidence from them. Request them put every words they promise you in words or record it. They can not get the correct tax code, they refused to pay until the work and pay right legal organisation become involved, they sent an invalid P45, they break their promises most of the time, published corporate head office email addresses do not work at all, they are extremely unreliable and irresponsible. If they do not do what they are required to do legally, just report the issue to HMRC, pay and work right (BIS) and the employment tribunal. May them wish that they have never set up in business to drag down the UK economy!

Spring were a complete shambles. They sent me on an interview and they gave me information about the firm I was going to etc before hand. But ... they info was about the wrong job and not even for the same company. 3 weeks later I still hadn't heard from Spring (despite calls and emails) about whether I had got the job. Then I had an email saying I had failed the interview because the interviewer said I hadn't prepared properly! I had already explained to the "consultant" at Spring about the mix-up but she just said that it was one of those things, we all make mistakes, and you just go to a job interview at your own risk.

Complete shambles.

“Issues with incorrect tax &NI on P60 tax form - READ...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ChocolateCookie on 08/11/2011

I had the pleasure of registering with Spring Personnel Chiswick branch and working various temporary assignments from May 2008 to March 2009. I was sent my P45 in February 2009 and then my P60 for tax year 2008-09 in May 2009 - Great!! I had no issues with my P45, but my P60 .... where do I begin?! After recently receiving a letter from HMRC requesting I send this P60 and others for the proceeding tax years I noticed the P60 issued by Spring Personnel to be very wrong. They only noted the pay and tax deductions for the last temp job I had worked, which was just for 1 day! In fact I had worked at 3 previous temp jobs; first one for a month, second for 1 day and third for 5 months. Why weren't the tax details from those jobs listed? Only Spring Personnel know that! So it looks as if I worked for just a day that entire tax year! And stupidly I didn't thoroughly check this until it was too late. Luckily, after explaining my situation to HMRC office, they are willing to accept my original payslips, the last weekly wage I received from each temp job I worked as on it, it lists the cumulatives of my gross pay, tax & NI deductions. And there's more!!! While checking through my payslips with Spring I also realised that for each different temp assignment I worked, I was put on a different tax code. This seems very dodgy to me. As this is not the case with my payslips while temping with my other agencies. So whoever is reading this please keep hold of all your original payslips from your temp or contract jobs. Check that your P45/P60 tax & NI deductions are correct as stated from your latest payslip. If not, contact your agency about it as soon as. If in doubt about anything relating to your pay or tax call the agency and if they are of little help, ask to speak to the agency's accounts/payroll department. If they refuse to give their number, take it to the head office. Do whatever you need to do, to get what you have asked for. These agencies make alot of commission of your backs. Supplying you this tax form you're entitled to is the least that they can do. Your agency should send your P45 at the end of your employment at that agency or your P60 after the end of every tax year you've worked (5 April). If this is not so, call them up and demand it!!
