Was sent for an interview for a temporary job and was initially offered the job at the rate orginally quoted. Then, before I started, I was told that the client would not pay this amount and that I would have to work for a lot less.
The client asked to see me again for a briefing chat the day I was due to start. I asked them why the rate had dropped. They replied that it hadn't, and that nobody from Hays had contacted them about rates (Hays had lied to me). We compared notes about what they were paying and what I was receiving. The drop in rate that Hays had pushed on me - Hays were pocketing it for themselves.
The client was furious and, I think, must have complained to Hays. I reeived an email from the client (my propective employer) that regretfully they could not employ me through Hays.
