“Worst Experience of My Life”

★★☆☆☆

written by debasser on 14/06/2013

Registered to Hays recruitment by mistake, through what I thought was an application for a job. Got a phone call from them, wanting to arrange a meeting to discuss job possibilities. I agreed to this meeting as I needed work . Got a phone call later the same day, the agent explained that they had arranged for me to have a phone interview for a job the next day. I knew nothing about the position and I expressed no interest in it. I undertook the interview but did not pass through to the next stage. I got a phone call about an hour or so after the interview had ended from Hays, they explained that i didn't get through to the next stage of interviewing, they further went on to say they had cancelled my meeting with them to discuss job possibilities. Obviously they are just working for commission, don't give a rats arse about there clients. Would not recommend to anyone.

I have had several successful administration placements via Hays Recruitment at Wollongong, and found their staff to be very helpful and proactive in presenting opportunities.

Of course they are working for the commissions, after all, it's the businesses seeking staff that pay for their services, so it's only right that those businesses are the 'clients' that hold top priority.

Hays does not charge the jobseekers who register with them, instead they providing a job placement service free of charge. They manage an extensive and constantly changing database of potential staff, none of whom pay them for their efforts, but all of whom want the 'right job, right now' (and no doubt bombard their recruiter with constant requests for a status update).

Be grateful that they found you an interview opportunity so quickly and put you forward for a companies consideration based only on the merits of your written application. It might not have been your ideal job at the time, but a willingness to grasp any opportunity is a valuable quality in any jobseeker and would have shown them that you were willing to try.

You say you knew nothing about the role, but since your interview was the following day, you could have used a number of resources to research both the company and the advertised role. That would have shown both Hays and the employing company that you had drive, initiative, and a determination to work.

If you couldn't be bothered to try, why should they?

Please Boosubkitty blatantly works for Hays, they need to be closed down worse company ever. The next step after reviewing them on this site is to seek legal action if they owe you money.
