“Happy to be a NON_smoker. at last !”

I smoked for 40 yrs.I have successfully quit by being on a half dose of Champix. I am 5 months smoke free.

Over the years, I have tried everything that was on the market over the counter and by prescription to quit smoking including HYPNOSIS by a professionally trained physician. NOTHING worked for me UNTIL I used Champix in the fall of 2012. It has been 5 months since the day I quit. Nobody is more happy for me than ME. I was surprised how after only one week I had NO desire to smoke, I never even thought about smoking at all. I had the occasional dream that I smoked but I also was angry at myself in my dream for having smoked. I was so happy when I woke up to realize that it was only a dream that I in fact had NOT smoked.

The side effects I experienced were nausea, heart burn & ludicrous dreams
in the first 4 days of taking the 1mg day and night dosage. I found that taking the medication with food and taking only a half dose ( 0.5 mg morning and night was just as effective .With my doctors guidance I took the Champix for 15 weeks and have been on 0.5 mg each morning since then ( 2 months).

I have not been exposed to any smokers and fear what summer friend & family bar-b-q's will expose me to when people who smoke feel free to do so outside. I will walk away from them. I never want to smoke again.

The smell of a heavy smoker is offensive, especially a person that does not wash or dry clean their coats or wash their hands and brush their teeth after smoking, nor take a mint! From past experience I found that if you happen to be walking by just one person smoking outdoors, the smell of freshly exhaled smoke is the problem. It reminds me of the pleasantries of smoking. It would give me the desire to smoke again. So, for sure I will stay away from smokers , I am asking for trouble! There are numerous unpleasantries when smoking that I do not want to experience again.

Good Luck to everyone who quits this highly addictive habit. Stay focused in your desire to quit. Let the drug Champix, do it's work, take it on time daily. Take it with food if necessary to relieve symptoms.

Drink plenty of water daily to flush the toxins from your system.Drink a big glass of water especially when you have an urge to smoke.

Keep your hands busy by preparing plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables for your consumption. Never give up your WANT to quit smoking.
