They offer only 1 option to ship to the US, including a gas fee for items that weigh maybe 4 ounces. It's a money grab disguised as a service taking advantage of travelers, $124 for 2 small bottles of very old balsamic.

They'll take your items, "security" will tell you that to get your item back it'll be "a tenner or so"...but no. To get back a bottle of aftershave it would have cost me about £50. They're pirates and security at Bristol and London are in on it. People that run companies like this and the people that allow it deserve to be fecally incontinent forever.

Heathrow confiscated my duty free Hermes body lotion. It was packaged and sealed by San Francisco duty free shop. Security told me it had not been packaged and sealed properly although it was in the proper packing with the receipt. They said because it had been closed by staples instead of sealed it didn’t pass. I said this was how San Fran had sold it to me. It cost £52. Mailandfly wanted to charge me £120 for a return in the UK. The whole situation is totally outrageous

Must confess to have felt more than slightly concerned after reading some of these reviews of the Making and Fly Service - but cannot speak highly enough of them. We had duty free taken from us at Heathrow on Sunday morning and were advised we could use Mail and Fly to have our items sent via courier to our home address. Filled in the form on Monday afternoon and our parcel arrived by 3.15 on the Thursday - all safe and sound. £24 is not an outrageous to pay for a private courier service from London to the North West of England and the most important thing is we got our duty free delivered safely and securely as promised. Thank you mail and fly - if Duty Free shops abroad fail to seal your bags in future use them. Our experience was first class.

I left an item with Mail & Fly at Heathrow Terminal 2 on 23 October 2022. On returning to Australia, I paid the fee to retrieve the item. Over two months later, I have still not received the item; and according to the Mail & Fly website, it has not yet even been dispatched from the UK. Mail & Fly appears to have taken my money and effectively taken the item. Are the security officers at Heathrow part of this racket? It would certainly explain the cheeriness with which they offered me this service. My advice to travellers: do not use the Mail & Fly service; leave your item at security and simply replace it. This will be quicker and cheaper. And no one gets kickbacks.

Brought a (nearly full) aftershave and which was 125ml - fair enough, I hadn’t realised. Was told by a nice lady at Heathrow that it’s simple to get back using this company. The nice lady is mistaken. The company is a joke. You are first lured into a false sense of there being a system by being provided with a reference number - only to be told they are unable to post your item back to you (I live in London). Literally a fake service.

I was forced to leave 4 fuel injectors at London City. Items NOT on the list of dangerous goods! As with everyone else they said £8 delivery but then the total came to £27 to make a courier delivery of my unnecessarily seized items back to my home 7.5 miles away. The security staff seem to be inadvertantly colluding in this abuse. The junior staff didn't know what was allowed and were given bad advice my their supervisor.

My wife and I unfortunately fell foul of having liquid/gel in our carry on suitcase whilst going through security - yes it happens a lot. In the past LHR simply destroyed the confiscated items although the more sceptical of us would think that without prejudice some of the security staff may be smelling a little sweeter than previously! The new system is the security person will save the day by offering you the mailandfly service! You immediately love this person who 5 seconds ago you despised . So what’s this amazing mailandfly system you ask - well don’t get too excited , basically LHR security personnel will put your restricted item in a clear bag and give you a code so that when you are home you can receive a cost for delivering your goods direct to your home. The cost for this service will almost certainly exceed the value of the items and here is the punch line - MailandFly (Bagport UK Ltd) keep your goods and most likely sell them. So in summary: LHR seize your restricted goods at security Mailandfly service is offered without you really having any idea of cost. LHR no longer need to destroy the goods. MailandFly structure the cost so that it is not economically viable to go through with the transaction. Mailandfly keep your goods and sell them on. You have been warned!

What I object to is being misled about the cost of delivery by Mail and Fly. My wife and I did make a mistake, and security had the right to confiscate the small item which we put in our hand luggage at the last minute because of problems with checking in our hold luggage. But the security staff gave us the impression that we could get it sent home for £8. In fact when I tried to arrange delivery I found that it would cost us £26.47 including £17.10 shipping and some fuel costs. (Doesn't shipping cost include fuel? I would think that you need fuel to ship something, and should include it in the shipping cost.) They were going to have the item couriered when ordinary mail would have been fine by us. I wonder if they gave us the impression it would be cheap, so that they could get the right to keep and sell our item. I would definitely not use this service unless it was for a crucially important item. Our experience has taught us to be even more careful about choosing what we put in hand luggage, so that we never need to use Mail and Fly.

I had a 50-year-old wooden toy pistol that my son had decided to bring home after a visit to his grandmother's in the UK. While I understand it was originally made to loosely resemble a toy cowboy pistol, it's essentially a rotten piece of wood (that apparently could be used to fire elastic bands). I was dealt with by a manager of security at Heathrow, who explained that it simply couldn't be allowed through. While very pleasant, polite and understanding, and did suggest I returned to check-in to check in the item, he was also quick to recommend the MailandFly option. I took the strip of paper with the code on and several days after arriving home checked to see the cost: £55 to send something on a two-hour flight to the EU that weighs a few grams and has no value other than sentimental. I'm sad to lose something I had as a child, but this is utterly ridiculous. I understand fully that security need to do their job, but I'd rather they were honest and just confiscate the item rather than push what is clearly an outrageous money-making scheme. Again, I can't help fear that this is yet another example of the UK being in thrall to the Arthur Daley-style quick and easy money-making that have no official backing or recommendation (witness the hundreds of Covid-19 "testing" sites that miraculously popped up overnight and are somehow, staggeringly, listed on the government's own web pages). I shan't bother and write it off.

I was at first excited by the possibility of recovering my (store-sealed) gourmet gift hot sauces, confiscated at Heathrow -- apparently even if your liquids are all below 100ml there is now a cumulative rule and you can't fly with over x total amount -- the domestic airport was fine with the sauces but Heathrow wasn't. However, the Mail and Fly site would NOT work. It wouldn't load the item search despite clicking the right button. After 10 attempts, it would load, then would not recognize the item number. Today it finally recognized the item number, only to tell me that the item had just today been discarded. By now I was only entering the number out of curiosity as meanwhile, I had looked up their prices -- it would've cost me 3.5 x the price of the hot sauce, to mail it to myself when back -- and 10 x to mail it forward to where I was going. Why don't they let you come pick up your item with the bag slip, if you are coming back through the airport? -- I'd really like to know if anyone successfully got their item back? Although for these shipping prices I can't imagine what you'd want to recover that badly -- angel tears? Avoid.

I used my mobile can only use PC or tablet. However, total charge is over £44 with £15 for dangerous goods. These are standard Toiletries Confiscated at departure Baggage control as I had 3 clear bags. Nothing dangerous about items plus additional admin fees are charged. This service is absolutely disgusting and an example of outrageous profiteering. Let them keep items.

They confiscated my Leatherman and then made a kind gesture to return it to me. I was given a tag with reference number on it. The tag indicated a cost of £6.00. When I logged on and entered the reference by the time they had added all the different elements of the charge the cost was £28.00. It’s simply rip off Britain, another method someone has cooked up to swindle money out of people.

They literally took two bottle openers from my luggage. They have never confiscated such stuff before. They sweetened me with the excuse that they would send my items back home, but then they asked 16.5 pounds for shipping 2 bottle openers worth 3 pounds.

My partner got his aftershave confiscated because it looked like a grenade. It was 90ml & in a clear plastic bag. He’s taken it through Belfast & Manchester with no problems. Cost to return the item £113.99, I kid you not! It’s £92 alone for dangerous goods shopping cost. Absolute joke, imo shouldn’t cost less than £10. That’s £6 admin & £4 2nd class signed for postage! Apparently they aren’t anything to do with HR but I beg to differ. What’s even more bizarre... you can buy said aftershave in duty free!

Having read some reviews, I can see why people dislike the service. But, me personally found it a saviour. I didn't realise about my aftershave being a 150 ml bottle. Security informed me that I could not take it and gave me the option of this service. When I logged on to get it shipped I was shocked at charge. But when I spoke with Bag Port they were very helpful. It was dangerous goods by air and so had a ridiculous surcharge, but they advised me of alternative. I got my aftershave back at a reasonable price then of £6 plus shipping and packaging to a UK address. Thank you Mail and Fly.

First time in almost 10 years of carrying a small laser pointer in my hand luggage that i use for doing training sessions, i got questioned about it. Jumped up idiot at security who was obviously on a power trip made a big deal about it, even although it was not on the displayed list of prohibited items. He said i could use this service as it only costs £6 to post it so i could get my £300 pointer back (yeah i paid a lot for it because of the power). So after agreeing on Thursday and trying every day on the website to get it to accept my reference code, it eventually worked. £64 to ship it to my home!!!!!!! what an absolute joke to post something the size of a pen, even without the insurance is still going to cost £32.Will be reporting the service to appropriate administration. Im guessing the security at bristol airport are on commission as they were handing these bags out like candy. So word of advice -- don't take anything you treasure through bristol airport security as they will force you to use these modern day highway robbers to get your items back.

Working in security at airport I see people like you every day. You shout and rant yet it is your own error. You took the prohibited item with you. It isn't rocket science, it is common sense, something people like you don't have. The service is clear, it is £6 to store it, for about 5 or 6 weeks I believe. If you can't collect it then you pay for shipping and packaging. Those charges re the courier firm they use. So get a grip and check your luggage in the first place!

I’ve got to laugh at you you joke. I asked the security hitler at the gate where it says no laser pointers allowed and he couldn’t show me anywhere.

Where does it say that they allow items to be collected ... please tell me how and where ??

So I got my thinning scissors taken off me because it was over 6cm, and this tool has been with me for 13 years. It has been 4 days now and I am unable to retrieve my item because the code doesn't work. Upon reading other reviews, other people pay and do not receive their items. My scissors cost 50 pounds and I would not be willing to risk the mail service regardless if the code works. UK terminals who operate with these cheats are cheats themselves...Don't waste your money, just throw away the items and don't let them sell on your item!
