“missleading confermation email and text ”

written by Korbinf449 on 17/10/2014

applied for a loan was told congratulations you have been aproved they took 10p off my card i got a confermation text and email and was made to believe the money would be in my bank the same day. 2 days later no money so i called them was told i needed to pay another £1 off my card to prove its me which i did. 3 days after that i got a email saying i had been declined. now cfo send me emails and texts every day offering me loans and they must of sold my number because i get 25 texts and email a day offering me payday loans. very misleading and i needed the money to feed my daughter and live they do not care they are messing with people's lives. I wished i had read the reviews on here first because all payday lenders have bad names but this is the worse one. also never apply through a broker because they do hundreds of searches without telling you

I hate when lenders do that, I've had this happen to me as well, it's just as you say, they send you the contracts and you think the deal is sealed and then you wait and wait....and wait and then you log in to your account or you get an email saying 'unfortunately after further checks we can't lend' blah blah blah.

I mean, why don't they just stick a knife in someones back instead because it couldn't hurt much more than doing that to someone when they're in a desperate need for cash flow, not all lenders are this bad needless to say, some are much more sensitive and respectful when they have to decline and that's at least fair enough but the thing that I also get annoyed with some of these lenders like CFO that don't utilize thought and consideration is that they will say on their adverts on the one hand 'poor credit excepted' and yet then in the next breath they'll tell you stuff like 'we're a responsible lender and so we carry out affordability checks before we can lend' etc.

So then they shouldn't say 'poor credit excepted' in that case because that is a total contradiction, what else constitutes 'an affordability check' if it's not someones score on their credit report?

“CFO Lending - Fraud Accounts!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 25/02/2014

I was shocked to find a CFO Lending record on my Credit Report even though I have never heard of them! Countless phone calls, emails later they tell me that it's up to the police to sort it out, all they did was lend money. "Didn't you do any checks" I asked "all the information you have on record about me is incorrect." "Yes we do checks, you need to report it to the police we are not at fault" was their reply. How can a company like this lend money using incorrect details to anybody then let their victims suffer and say it's not their fault. Surely something needs to be done with this company!

I have got the Financial Ombudsman involved as CFO Lending really believe nothing is their fault.

It's a very long process and CFO seem to be dragging it out as much as possible, they are even now saying that they do not have the information on their system that they originally gave me when I first contacted them!

Seems like they are trying to hide things, and most probably will get away with it!

I am very surprised that the same thing happened to you as CFO Lending told me that they "changed their processes" so nothing like this could happen again... maybe they Customer Charter that they quote on the website "Transparency, Fair and Responsive" needs to be re-assessed!

HI

Same thing with me.

In the final stages of resolution with CFO after FOS involvement. Did you get any compensation at all. They have stated that they may make a payment of between £50-£100. I said it was not enough but must await their final response. Its took 18 months to get to this stage after someone fraudulently applied using my name and address. I received a response in February to say that it was all resolved and that I would not hear from them again, only to find they placed a default notice against my credit record in June this year again for non-payment.

I note that CFO Lending are subject to a "Voluntary Application for Imposition of Requirement" with the FCA and all debt collection activities are suspended.

Totally awful, my partner has a dmp set up but cfo took all the money exatly when he got paid and left him with nothing. We are fighting to get the money back. We will win, I have threatened them with the ombudsman as they had no reason to take the money. The dmp firm are totally useless also as they should not let this happen.

“Genuinely, the most inept company in existence.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/12/2013

Applied for a £300 loan on 12th December around 1pm, was told i was approved and money would be paid in by 4pm. Nothing arrived. Next day (today 13th December) received a call saying they needed to speak to me before approving the loan, fair enough, called them and confirmed my name & personal details. Received an email stating once again the funds would be in my account at 4pm via Faster Payments. Now 7pm and nothing, phoned them and got through, the girl hung up on me. Phoned again, once more phoned picked up and hung up on. Now tried calling 7 times for the last 2 hours and no answer. Absolutely useless, ignorant, shameful excuse for a company. I will do everything within my power to ensure this company is on the receiving end of a winding up petition, wrong person to take the michael out of.

“poor contact ”

I have had a loan with this company for about 12 months , i did have some issue with paying and eventually decided to get hold of my debts and speak to a debt solutions company . They sorted my debts out that were about £6000 , all of my creditors stopped interest and excepted the reduced amounts except CFO who have been difficult all the way through .I am at the end of my payment plan and all creditors have been paid , but am stil getting letters and texts from CFO saying i still owe money . I would never advise anyone to take any form of loan up with them as they are sharks , they do not send regular statements to show what has been paid and will never give you a straight answer as to what might be outstanding , texts showing amounts owed change from day to day some times low amounts some times higher. Don't get a loan with them they trick you into thinking that they are giving you a good service becuase they will give you a loan even if you have bad credit . I have had nothing but issue with this company and after a year of which the loan should be paid they are still saying there is money owing - i only borrowed £200

“Avoid at all costs”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 11/12/2013

I wish I had read these reviews before taking out a loan with them. As wit others, I needed to seek advice regarding my finances and as a result cancelled my CPA and attempted to negotiate a repayment plan. They then proceeded to raid my account on a daily basis, despite my withdrawal of authority. This continued for several months despite my bank refunding the amounts and would still be continuing today had I not closed my bank account. I wrote to them on numerous occasions but didn't even have the courtesy of a reply. Finally contacted the ombudsman and had my complaint fully upheld. They have ordered CFO to pay me compensation (yet to be received), remove all interest accrued and agree a payment plan which I can afford. One note worthy of mention for others in the same predicament. The terms of their own contract states "you authorise us until further notice by you and provided we have given you appropriate notice, to take a payment by debiting the account at any time after the Payment Date, for the payment of the Total Amount Payable together with any default interest.") I''m not a legal expert but would suggest if they continue to raid peoples bank accounts after the individual has withdrawn authority they have broken their own contract making it unenforceable. Please, please, please avoid this company at all costs. 19 of the 20 reviews on here are negative for a reason.

“Loan from them expensive but exactly what I signed up”

★★★★★

written by Gallifrey1980 on 23/11/2013

I had a short term cash flow problem and was on the internet looking for the money to tide me over, I was directed through to the CFO website through a broker, loan approved and transferred to my account within 48 hors for no fee. Unfortunately with a poor credit rating I am restricted at moment to high interest loan companies. CFO were transparent about their fees, their customer service advisor was very helpful and they took the repayment on the day they said they would. Can't really ask for more than that.

“Have got into financial difficulties and have...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/11/2013

Have got into financial difficulties and have contacted my creditors with a letter of explanation and budget sheet. All of my creditors have been great EXCEPT CFO. They will only agree to a plan if you send them a full bank statement.....yeah right. Have spoke with my bank & cancelled my CPA, little girl at CFO was unprofessional, rude was obviously on some sort of power trip and it would appear that she has a chip on her shoulder. i am now taking this to OFT as i have offered but they won't accept as a repayment plan and said they will charge £8+ per day. Hellbent on getting them shut down then let the silly little girl see what it is like to have no money.

“DONT DO IT”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 02/11/2013

I APPLIED FOR A LOAN WHICH WAS APPROVED. HOWEVER, THE MONEY HAS NEVER ARRIVED IN MY ACCOUNT. ACCORDING TO CFO I GAVE THE WRONG SORT SORT CODE SO THE RESPONSIBILITY RESTS WITH ME. DESPITE CHASING FOR 21 DAYS AS TO WHERE THE MONEY WENT ALL I GET WHEN I SPEAK TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM IS "I GAVE THE WRONG INFORMATION SO RESPONSIBILITY RESTS WITH ME". I THINK THEY EMPLOY MORANS WHO JUST READ FROM A SCRIPTED SHEET ON HOW TO DEAL WITH CUSTOMERS WITH PROBLEMS BECAUSE IF YOU ASK A QUESTION YOU JUST GET TOLD "WE ARE A COMPANY AND NOT A BANK AND IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVIDE THE CORRECT DETAILS". WHEN ASKED IF I CAN SPEAK TO A MANAGER OR THEIR ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT WAS ADVISED THAT IS NOT AN OPTION BECAUSE THE MONEY HAS NOT BOUNCED BACK AND THEY CAN DO NOTHING IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY. I HAVE USED THIS COMPANY BEFORE SO WHY WHEN THEY DOING THEIR CHECKS DID THEY NOT REALISE I GAVE THE WRONG DETAILS? WHICH, BY THE WAY, I DOUBT I DID.

The same thing happened to me!! I am adamant I did not give the wrong details. They are liars! They said I entered the last digit wrong but at no point did I even have to enter my details again as it was a refinance loan. I've complained to the ombudsman, you should do to.

“horrible being harassed!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jedishelley on 04/10/2013

I get this payday loan for £250 I pay in test for 2 months them find out I'm getting a pay cut from work, I tell CFO that I am going with step change a DMP as I am struggling with a few debts. After nearly a year on my DMP and never missing a payment they still harass me. I'm talking 7-8 phone calls a day on my home and mobile phone saying I have to pay all. Text messages every half an hour throughout the day and night, I even got one at 3am! Some say to pay all my loan off some offer to pay interest only some even offer to lend me more money. The past month has been the worst they are threatening me now, saying they will attempt to take the full amount on a certain date and we will be sending someone round to collect the debt. Also saying a money collector from CFO will. call round after 8pm to start taking my property to pay off the debt. I have calls after 9pm and answer phone messages left threatening me saying they will take the money the following morning! They are being paid through my DMP every month and agreed to their offer, they were updated of my situation. The terrible thing is they know I half my home broken into by 6 masked men one evening and me and my daughter were held a knife point, as a single mum this was terrifying they know all details of this yet still threaten to send people round! I am living in fear and they don't help ,matters stay away they are evil, liars and a disgrace.

“Dreadful”

written by shazbeard on 30/09/2013

I applied for a loan (car repairs) after receiving a text and email that I was "approved". Went online, filled out the form and got rejected?? b*ggar I though but fair enough, since then have been plagued by texts and emails (from CFO, Payday 1st and their other subsidaries) saying i am approved! Got seriously annoyed off and emailed them on a daily basis telling them to stop bombarding me. They have NEVER replied and now I get 3 a week....! I have since emailed them twice a day telling them to stop...thought I'd play them at their own game. Shocking company....please stay away.

“The worse!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dyliboiiiii on 10/07/2013

Beware!! Faster payments do not go in until the next day despite paying £15 for this! They bombard you with texts offering more money! I applied for a further £80 with them but they sent the money to wrong sort code so I never received it!! I called them and they said I am liable still to pay this plus interest!! I never even entered my sort code again after first loan which I did receive!! They are still blaming me! So I have only received £60 and am due to repay £210!!!!!!! Disgraceful!! It is their fault for sending money to wrong account. I am complaining to fso!!
