“Warranty Useless”

★☆☆☆☆

written by lontrav on 18/11/2017

Bought my double oven in January 2016 with 3 year warranty administered by UK Warranty. First small things like the ovenlight had to be replaced which I did, next to go was the main oven element after 18 months. Contacted the warranty providers - had to wait 3 weeks while they ordered the part (when he eventually came back he brought a universal element not even a de dietrich one) then to be told the wire at back of oven was too short for engineer to get the oven out. In desperation bought new oven (not de dietrich) the electrician who fitted it showed me the wire was plenty long enough. So if you buy one throw the warranty straight in the bin they are not interested in repairing them and they will go wrong.

“Opinion Changed”

★★★★★

Having had serious issues with De Dietrich initially with a problem oven, they have now over exceeded what was necessary and are a credit to the brand. think the issues with new distribution company now being ironed out.Would now thoroughly recommend. Stylish product with a lot of cooking features you would usually find on a more expensive model.

“Worst kitchen brand in the world”

★☆☆☆☆

written by buHall148 on 30/06/2014

Never, ever buy anything from this company. We've had a coffee machine, built in, and a very expensive 90 litre oven and they've been the worst purchases ever made. For a premium priced product you'd think they would work flawlessly, but no. The coffee machine needs almost monthly service to function properly, otherwise it refuses to work as the "water tank is empty" - when it's completely full. As for the oven. Well the new version of this oven took a year to be delivered (probably because the French workers were too busy with their mistresses and smoking Gauloises to be bothered to, you know, actually make anything), and then the oven really doesn't function as an oven. Any temperature above 200 deg C and it cuts out and completely switches itself off. Handy, that. So, if you have money to burn and holes to fill in your kitchen with appliances that don't actually do anything useful, then by all means buy De Dietrich. Otherwise, your money would be far better used on anything else - a Calor gas stove for example, or just wood. And instant coffee. Completely, absolutely useless. And don't even get me started on the customer service. Which doesn't exist.

“Poor design, not durable”

★☆☆☆☆

written by sreindl on 21/04/2014

On the advice of a salesman, we fitted our kitchen with de dietrich products. They look good, but don't last - and the maintenance is very difficult. The combi microwave grill is useless, the oven was OK until the heating elements needed replacing - and the simple task took hours. Avoid this brand at all costs, despite the appearance - they don't last and they are a hassle to look after.

“Fagor (DeDietrich) Double oven Model FBI981X3”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SchleicherK6edriver on 07/02/2014

Thinking of buying a Fagor (DeDietrich) oven - take a hint - DON'T. We installed this oven 5 years ago on a kitchen refit. Twice during the 5 year warranty period the oven temperature control switch has become defective. On both occasions the wrong switch was sent to the repairer. On the first occasion the correct switch was sent after 3 weeks. On the second and current occasion, after sending the wrong switch, the correct switch was promised on a certain date, but this was not honoured, a second date was promised, again no switch, we have now been promised a third date - we are not holding our breath - the oven has been effectively useless for three months including over the Christmas period. I Mailed their service director electronically, which was totally ignored. I wrote to their Basingstoke address, this was totally ignored, not even the courtesy of an acknowledgement. Now planning to sue them for breach of contract and or making a claim for a replacement oven through the small claims division of the County Court. Incidentally their website does not even recognise the model of oven we have - what a great start! Will stick to buying British in future.

“De Detrich Are Rubbish”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/12/2013

Bought De Detrich DOD788B1 double oven with new kitchen. On carrying out cleaning process which also locks the door on the main oven, the internal glass cracked. Optiplan who fitted the kitchen point blank refused to help & after speaking to the MD who referred us to De Detrich who also refused as the glass was only guaranteed for one month! Not good when the unit was only 11 months old. Spares are difficult to get hold of & De Detrich don't seem to have any engineers. A poor show for an apparent premium quality product!!

I've just come off the phone from De Detrich service centre in Basingstoke. My oven failed the week before Christmas, the engineer arrived Christmas eve with the wrong part, he came again today with the wrong part! Parts will now have to be ordered from France another 3 days, customers are not compensated, my husband is self employed and every hour spent waiting for the engneer to turn up is money lost. The engineer lied to the service company, the customer service manager says she gave the service company the details and instructions but they say she didn't there are apparntly no notes on the system to confirm the instrctions. I have made umpteen calls and I still have both ovens with faults. But De Detrich don't care. I even said I would put this on twitter - I was amost dated to. So I will and I'll tell anyone and everyone what a terrible company De Detich are.

“microwave”

bought new microwave oven-after being faulty and out of 'warranty' took to local repairer---parts are not available, apparently spare parts unavailable, as they are 'obsolete'. What a poor investment after such a short time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will never buy this expensive rubbish again.

“Do not waste your money”

written by wasteofmoney on 02/03/2012

Purchased new kitchen and they recommended Dietrich appliances and these appliances spoilt my kitchen I without dount could have spent at least 70% less and got far better not only that their customer services should be prosecuted under trade descriptions. Three of appliances broke within 13 months but because i was not told by my kitchen fitter I need to register my appliance i was out of warrenty and having spent over £5,000 I was not happy! I could have spent less than half of that that and got a far better product, My advice is NEVER BUY Dietrich EVERY AS TOTAL WASTE OF YOUR MONEY BELIVE ME

Oh how familiar this sounds! Have 3 hob appliances and 2 DD ovens. The Teppanyaki blew up shortly after installation and the repair has not worked. The wok hob was faulty and still is, despite repeated visits by at least 2 different repairmen, neither of whom knew how to repair it. The convection hob is now also failing on the main ring and I think I might prefer to leap off the nearest cliff than have to deal with either RepairCare or indeed De Dietrich itself ever again - we have had months of utter misery and frustration and the company does not seem to care one iota - the best offer was a small % off new equipment (as if I would ever want to buy DD again!) and since then complete silence.
Do NOT ever buy De Dietrich unless you want to make your life hell and your kitchen a saga of failed meals...

I agree, I bought an double oven from Applicance City, and it was bleeping, and turning itself on running through all the program's and turning itself off.
I did not know this as it was happening randomly. So I called Appicance City requesting a replacement with a new oven @£898.00.

AC said that they would only repaire since the problem was reported 28days from purchase. Oven is not what i use every day, like a microwave or dishwasher, plus working I was not at home to notice the problem earlier.

After 3 days taken out for the engineer to call try to fix the problem, close to 15 calls and time taken to do this, I am still waiting to a brand new oven that should be working perfectly from day one!

Customer Service at Appliacnce City, DeDietrich and all the contracts involved to order, authorise, book the call out, engineers (who did know the technical side of the oven to fix it!) and chasing all the above I'm still waiting for Appliacnce City to receive the report from the engineer to find a solution to what has become a thorn in my side and bottomless costs to have an oven that is not showing to be dangerous and an oven that works!

“De Dietrich appliances”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 29/12/2011

We purchased a house which had the integrated appliances removed so felt obliged to mirror the same manufacturer as the oven and induction hob already present. We purchased an oven/microwave combo and a steam oven. To sum up briefly, extremely stylish, at the top end of the price scale. Very poor products, even worse back up, not intuitive. Knowing then what I know now I would have rather re-newed the hob and oven which were in working order and bought into a credible brand like Neff, Miele or Siemens. Do not touch De Dietrich with a barge pole.

“De Dietrich are Rubbish”

written by jimsells on 27/08/2011

I bought a new De Dietrich oven recently, had it installed but it was faulty. Went back to supplier but owners had retired, so spoke to manufacturer. They said that although they offer a 1 year manufacturers warranty, mine was not the latest model so refused to repair. I said oven was not fit for purpose but they said liability is with supplier so legally they don't have to do anything. Took my complaint as far as service director, but they weren't bothered, so I have to but a new oven. No goodwill, no customer service, no pride in their products...buyers beware!!!

I have had the same experience with De Dietrich, do not touch them with a barge pole, their product failed within six months of purchase and when it failed again less than a year later they refused to fix it, despite the fact that we had been given a 5yr warranty that they now claim they have no record of.

I too have had poor customer service and revoke of a 1 year manufacturers warranty because of poor communication between their customer support team. The made no effort to right the error after multiple calls with them. Terrible customer experience - stay away!

“Components are not fit for purpose.”

written by on 25/08/2011

Bought an induction hob 18 months ago. Within 6 months the sensors controls failed. These were replaced. At the time the engineer broke the glass top. Through Christmas with sticky tape on hob. Returned to same fault 3 months later. Six months later, same problem. Rang DE-DIETRICH to be told that all manufacturers have failure rates. Why pay for a premium brand, when by their own admission they compare themselves to the poorer performing machines. The frostiest after-care people i have come across. Had a NEFF Induction hob for 7 yrs prior to this and never had any bother. DO NOT BY DE-DIETRICH PRODUCTS.......THEY ARE EXPENSIVE RUBBISH.

“Branded as top end....performs at the other”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/06/2011

As with others posting reviews here, I am utterly disappointed with the reliability (or lack of it!) from what was branded a top-end product. When I spoke to De Dietrich head office in the UK I was told that their ovens only had a life expectancy of 5-6 years! Had I have known this I would never have purchased one. She said that this was 'industry standard'. However, when I called Miele and Neff (about the same price point and branded to the same market) they told me the life expectancy was: Miele 15-20 years and Neff 10-15 years. So 5-6 years is obviously not standard for the rest of the industry. As a way of compensation I was offered 30% off trade price. In reality with the other charges that were then added, the difference between the 'discounted price' and the price from my closest retailer was £50....the same price that it cost to have a repairman come out, take a 5 minute look and then tell me it's unrepairable. Don't buy De Dietrich its not woth the cost in the long run!

“The double oven controls are made of plated styrene. ...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Alastair Davidson on 11/03/2011

The double oven controls are made of plated styrene. The vapour from the oven attacks the styrene resulting in splitting. We are on our fourth set of 4 knobs; at £54.00 per set - an expensive spare. De Dietrich refuse to acknowledge the fault or supply under a 10 year guarantee. The latest set do not even fit! - although confirmed as correct by their appointed spares supplier.

“Owning a De Dietrich product is an absolute nightmare....”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 18/02/2011

Owning a De Dietrich product is an absolute nightmare. I spent £2000 on a double oven and hob as part of a new kitchen installation and they are the most unreliable appliances that I have ever owned. This coupled with the worst warranty repair service that I have ever experienced makes the entire decision to buy from this manufacturer an expensive mistake.

The oven clock ran slow. When repaired it was rewired so that top oven controls operated bottom oven and vice versa. Next engineer described wiring as 'scrambled and unfixable' so cooker was eventually replaced (4 months later). Next, the light in the new oven broke within 1 month, door seals lasted 2 months and elements blew within 6 months. De dietrich quibbled over warranty because they had changed the cooker and not properly registered the replacement so we gave up on one oven and just worked with the second one until it broke a couple of months later. Telephone help line was rude and uninterested - warranty work was subcontracted to another company and they wouldn't come out to look at the job for several weeks - claiming we lived in a remote area. We live in the middle of a major UK city! It just wasn't the same city that they were in.

Two of the the rings on the expensive induction hob would cut out unpredictably while cooking and the controls which were supposed to be touch sensitive were very variable and often did not respond if the air in the kitchen became moist.

Conclusion - De Dietrich appliances look good but are ABSOLUTE JUNK. Save yourself time and money and avoid. I only gave 1* in categories above because the site would not let me rate it at zero.

“We've had our De Dietrich range cooker for a while now...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 15/02/2011

We've had our De Dietrich range cooker for a while now - we were foolishly talked into buying it when we had our kitchen refitted, and knowing no better we went along with a salesman's advice. What fools we were. Within months, the rubber trim had come off around the doors of both ovens and proved impossible to replace or refit. The element on the smaller oven has blown twice, and the storage door jammed closed forever. The company have no customer care policy to speak of, and all repairs are funnelled through to a truly incompetent firm called 'Repair Care', who are the most appalling company I have ever dealt with in the UK. If something goes wrong, and it will, you are either in the hands of these clowns, or on your own to try and find a spare part and a competent installer. Avoid De Dietrich and save yourself a fortune.

written by Markhelen on 08/02/2011

Well were should I start! A great looking oven but what a load of rubbish and the american idiot on customer services needs his head looking at, he is sooo rude.
How this man can be allowed to work talking calls in customer services it surpasses me! Unbelieveable!!!

We have had the element changed at our cost... the electronic box that tells the oven the door is either open or closed and has broken for the second time, the fan is noisey and the matching microwave is also noisey!

What do customer services say - its out of its warranty period - tough luck!
I think they need to re-write their brochures saying.... for the professional cook - this rubbish wouldn't last 5 minutes in a professional kitchen - who are they kidding!

DO NOT BUY A DE DIETRICH OVEN - stick to NEFF!!!

A complete disaster. And when I complained to Die Dietrich got nowehere fast. Letter from a service manager said their warranty is operated by an independent organisation and they do not emply repair engineers.

They then had the nerve to conclude "we assure you of our best attention at all times.I am now in the process of buying a Leisure cooker at a fratction of the Fagor Brandt price!!

Die Dietrich? Never again.

“We bought a top of the range De Dietrich DOD 798...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by chrispaine on 26/01/2011

We bought a top of the range De Dietrich DOD 798 double oven just over a year ago, and it has proved an utter disaster.

Instead of using simple dials and knobs, all controls are activated by faint touch symbols, with different symbol combinations to touch for each task. Consequently our oven is plastered with sticky notes reminding us what to do to achieve the settings needed. It drives us crazy. It also suffers from some serious defects: it cooks unevenly, it fails to show the temperature inside the oven at any time, and the timer signals are virtually indaudible. We have had several service calls under warranty, involving the exchange of two different circuit boards, but this has made no difference whatsoever.

We had been happy De Dietrich users for over 20 years, and value the pyrolitic function. So we bought this machine on trust, without seeing it first. What a mistake, and what a fall from grace of a previously trusted brand.

I agree that the repairs service is *pathetic* - you can't get through on the phone, though it's a number for which they charge you, and having booked online I waited in all day yesterday and they didn't turn up - and didn't even ring. It's a good oven, very old but now needs repair. I'd never recommend de Dietrich!
